He was suspended on the Friday and she talked to Marian on the Saturday. Her silence on the issue beforehand could easily be put down to management at the station telling people working there not to get involved with the controversy.

But, sure let's paint her as a plotting Lady Macbeth feminist because she has boobies… that's way more fun.

Christ Donohoe mustn't have got the memo...

Not sure if this was covered but I would have been happy if Jonathon Healy had taken up the cudgel.

Don't like the current stand in ;-(

Haven't listened to NT since George was suspended, won't be listening again either

Jesus Christ no. CK might not be a radio natural (yet) but she's miles ahead of Johnathan Healy. I abhorred Hook's show so it's really saying something when I can say it was an improvement on Healys awful slot.

I wonder how many other posters will actually make good on this promise in the medium to long term.

I find her pretty awful to be honest. Can't listen.

Listening to her at the moment (first time).

    What's the problem?

Plenty of other stations out there.
I was always a lazy listener, NT would be on 24/7, some shows I didn't enjoy as much as others, but it just became habit to leave NT on the radio.

What feminist agenda is she pushing? I'll admit that I haven't been listening too closely - I'm only at my desk sparodically from 12-1 and don't normally listen to any radio on my lunch hour but I didn't think she was ott in that department. Maybe it's something I'm not that sensitive about…
On her first broadcast after GH's suspension she signed off her intro with "and yes, I AM a woman"

I immediately switched off and haven't tuned back in since. I don't know what point she was trying to make and quite frankly I don't care, and I couldn't care less what the gender is of a presenter. She can peddle her us and them nonsense all she likes, thanks to tunein there are thousands of alternatives.

She said she was a woman!?!?! Unbelievable!!! I bet they were burning their bras throughout Marconi House after that happened.

I hope you had a strong cup of cocoa afterwards to get over the shock of that…

I think she said this in response to the criticism leveled at NewsTalk i.e. there are no women broadcasters.

We won't have any of that talk here. It was clearly her attempt to push an us-v-them feminist agenda by rubbing her gender in our faces!!!

The irony here is I think you're the one actually trying to accuse me of an overreaction, calm yourself down like.... Yikes... Such histrionic rabble, well done :)

Tbf, you switched off a radio station and haven't tuned back in since because someone had the temerity to say they were a woman. Seems like an over-reaction to me.

Because I chose to listen to other stations? Are you serious like, I can listen to whatever I like whenever I like. Am I obliged to listen to a show I had probably only listened to about 6 times in the previous year?

Life lesson; people are entitled to make their own choices for their own reasons, get used to that. I'm sorry if my innocuous opinion offends you, that's your choice I guess. PM me if you want to talk about it, I'm here for you.

switched to 8radio/lbc now. it's great for the blood pressure to listen to another country screwing things sideways. sometimes tune in to moncreiff in the afternoon if i remember, then out again for drive.

i think the whole point was... well, what was the point in saying it in the first place. most people just want a decent broadcaster, male or female.

Looks like George is still having a bad time.

The Corkman deleted his Twitter account after abuse directed at him and his family with one tweet demanding: “Why don’t you hang yourself with 1 of your flashy ties!”

So she gets a free pass on her machiavellian behaviour because she has boobies then ? She is always talking about equality, and I think the equality in this case would be to call her on her backstabbing behaviour in the same way we would if she were a man.

Is there anything to be said for bringing back Eamon Keane?

You know that wouldn't be the worst idea ever... Actually, I wonder is Healy sniffing round for his old job. I can't think that he would be happy that his old job has been given to somebody else. He is possibly the worst broadcaster in Ireland, though he seems completely oblivious to the fact.

Somebody suggested Anton Savage earlier on. I don't know the politics of it, but he is fantastic, would love him on that spot. Getting sick of Ronan Collins already.

It suited her to say too little too late so that exactly what's she did..

    And look at her now..

One step closer to that job she so desperately wants..

If you actually read your link she will be presenting her own show on Sunday mornings. That actually means she less likely to be long term replacement for George Hook. So where does the theory about back stabbing bitch fit in?

And the comment about her being a woman was a clear dig at Fintan O'Toole & Co. who attacked Newstalk for the lack of female presenters.

From what I've been told she definitely didn't stab him in the back, she was highly critical of what he said but didn't want him suspended. She was the logical replacement as I believe she has filled in for him before, but there was no agenda to take his slot by her. I don't see why she should turn the offer down (as a supportive gesture to GH), it's a good opportunity for her. I'm sure he'd be happy for her to get the gig if he can't have it.

I gather people within the station have had it in for him for some time now, and were happy to apply pressure to the bosses.

The machiavellian behaviour of not condemning him in the immediate aftermath of the controversy, filling in for him as she always has whenever he has been on leave this year and then defending him on a rival station the day after he gets suspended? C'mon…

I wouldnt be a big fan of her but I have seen nothing to indicate that she stabbed him in the back or took advantage of the situation.

I also dont buy into Chris O Donoghue orchestrating Hooks ousting

That's doubly disgusting given his openness about how he struggles with mental health issues.

O'Donoghue was acting on his principles, it wasn't personal on his part.

The leak has been pinned on him by many, I'm told it 100% was not him

Thing I don't understand is this petition.

Isn't the whole point of a petition that people literally sign their name to support a cause?

Isn't it slightly silly that we don't know who they are?

These tech segments are terrible. Everyone buys a new iPhone every year apparently, and "Samsung" equals all Android phone.
