Dab some alcohol on it. Vodka if you have it :)

Only alcohol is an unopened bottle of wine. Wish I had the vodka. That works better than Zovirax which it's now too late for. Anyway. Very trivial :)

Smoke alarm coming on intermittently for no apparent reason. Been in the house a week. Hope it doesn't go off during the night.
Don't want to be alarmist (pun intended), but are you absolutely certain that it is a smoke alarm and not a carbon dioxide alarm?

I'm almost sure it was that and not a carbon monoxide alarm but not 100% tbh

Just a suggestion, but it is worth being 100% sure. If it happens to be a CO2 alarm, there could be a good reason for it going off intermittently, a reason that you need to do something about urgently.

I'm probably wrong, and it's probably not a big deal - but don't take the risk. Even if you can take a good close-up photo of the alarm box and post it here, I or others might be able to help confirm the issue.

Just had a look in the kitchen there. My bad. The carbon monoxide alarm is clearly marked and it wasn't that one. The lights on all the smoke alarms are green so can't see that it's a battery issue.

I'll post a picture as soon as I can.

Many thanks for the advice & concern.

My mother won't talk to me because I didn't tell her about the guy I'm seeing. She also doesn't approve. In 27! I can do what I want but she can't seem to get her head around that. Very annoying!

Unless the job is to become the face of Zovirax I don't think they'll care.

The box the cling-film roll is contained within is designed by engineers to cut a straight line across it for the next person to use. Lots of 'experts' think they know better but leave an unfurling puzzle for those who come after them... sorry, but you're a bit dim.

Why does my hair have to be such a cnut? How come it looked nice when I practised this hairstyle until now I want to wear it out and I look like someone else? What's that bit doing, just hanging there antisocially?

I cannot wait until it's grown back fully so I can just pay a hairdresser to do this. I'm necking enough supplements so it would want to get growing, fast.

Why would you be sending me an email at half eleven of a Sunday evening when I'm in bed? Why? You work 9-5 too, same company, same building. Wait until the morning like any normal person, ffs.

Was it some kind of awful, offensive post?

TA neighbour has abandoned his dog and it's practically living in my garden, winding my dog up.

Probably gonna get flamed for this but it really annoyed me so I'll post it anyway.

I was late for work this morning because a man in an electric wheelchair decided to drive his wheelchair down the center of a lane rather than use the footpath in rush hour traffic. Because its a wheelchair, it isn't designed to travel at high speeds and was going at about 10mph with a trail of traffic absolutely snailing behind him.
Before anyone mentions it, the adjacent footpath on both sides of the road was more than wide enough to accommodate the wheelchair and was also sloped in a few places to allow him get up and down off the step with ease. Regardless of the fact that it seriously slowed everyone else down, he actually almost got hit by a lorry at one point coming round a corner (I was behind him on the bus) which could have caused a serious accident, and I also highly doubt he's insured to be on the road.
This also isn't the first time I've seen the same man on the same stretch of road and around the area doing the same thing.

I know I sound like an insensitive assh*ole but it really annoyed me. I'm all for equal access to amenities for all members of society, regardless of physical state, but this guy just seemed like a d*ckhead. It was just so unnecessary.

This week I've bumped my funny bone TWICE. Once against the sharp edge of the car door, and a couple of days later against the corner of the front door. I can confirm that it's a misnomer*, it's not funny at all. So, double TA and double OUCH - it's still sore, in fact. I've tried to kiss it better but, as we know, we can't kiss our own elbows. :(

    (*I know, I know: funny --> humorous --> humerus)

Two more bumps, this time one on each side, and two more dead arms. Ouch and :mad::mad:. It may be a sign that I need a neurologist... :/

I was in the office of a large public body in Dublin some months back. They had a sign in the gents loo, along the lines of "Will the person who keeps wiping the mucus from their nose on this wall please stop".

Get a bike. You'll be in work, showered and at your desk while others are still on the bus.

If it was rush hour traffic, he was probably going faster than the traffic. I find it funny how some drivers lose all sense of reason when they have to stay behind a bike for 10 or 20 seconds, given that they spend hours starting down the boot of the car in front.

Learning to drive in my early thirties. It's going pretty well. Had a lesson today and at a right turn at a crossroads I didn't quite complete the turn as fast as I should. As I was looking into the new road, a woman waiting to exit beeped at me and I could see her flailing her arms wildly inside the car while her face was contorted into what was no doubt a string of abuse aimed at me.

Maybe the fact that I was in a car covered in about 17 million Ls together with 'Driving School' written in massive letters on its side might give her some indication why I wasn't driving like pro.

People who have no patience for learners are assh*les who clearly forget they were once learners themselves.

Didn't particularily bother me but I could understand how it could phase a more nervous or less confident learner.

Eugh maddening. I always stay a little back from L drivers so they don't get all hurried and stressed. TA people who forget that we all had to learn at some point.
