We had the same record in finals give or take in the hurling.
We had that history that burdened us. We lost one of our legends which could have added a weight. It didn't, take your history, think of your legends and when it's in the mix the next day, let Aidan or Cillian or Andy or whoever repeat David Burkes words - not again, we're not letting this happen again. Go and ****in win it by whatever means possible.
I hope to goodness, that if you do win the damm thing (yes, I said IF
) that you are given the credit for it in the here and now & people and the media focus on that primarily. Leave the past where it is. Respect it, but don't be obsessed by it, or constantly remind the players of it.
Heard a lot of Joe Canning interviews over the past week. The tone of them all seems to be "Well Joe, how much has your life sucked over the past 10 years? "

There are not just physical inches, there are the mental inches. Rochford has been forcing the team to gain these crucial mental inches by pushing them to the brink physically and mentaly each and every training session, so they would have to fight beyond the physical for those mental inches each and every match, leading to a perfect peak for the AI, the perfect outcome for the perfect cunning plan.
