Even the oil companies don't pretend that climate change isn't a thing.

Would ye be up for a NFL fantasy draft this year? Probably too late for Week 1 but perhaps we could do one next week in time for Week 2? I'm happy to organise.

I am always up for a draft.

Can we start from Week 2? Ideally we don't want to run into Week 17 where a lot of backups will play.

Sure. From what I recall it's pretty flexible to set it up however you want schedule wise.

Just had a call from James' Hospital saying my consultant has a cancellation for tomorrow morning's slot if I wanted to get some metal removed from my shoulder. I took it, but have a flight booked to London on Friday evening, which is most likely off the cards. It's local anaesthetic and a small incision in the shoulder with only a couple of stitches... Anyone have previous with this kind of thing? Will talk to the consultant about whether or not I can fly tomorrow, but couldn't help looking to the internet for some rock solid medical info.

On the plus side, I'll make the boards beers if I don't go to London :D

Depending on what kind of painkillers you get you may end up flying twice in one day!

No personal experience, but IMHO provided you have someone flying with you who is happy to carry any baggage, you should be fine. If you get any sedation, you won't be able to drive to the airport.

But if it's only local anesthetic, as they say in the trade "man up".

Shouldn't be any trouble travelling with that, assuming you've only one bag?

    Edit: Shrapnel????

At least if you do fly, you'll get through security quicker.

Should be fine. It's a local. You might have tenderness for a few hours/overnight but it should be fine on Friday if the procedure is on Thursday. If it's local it's superficial so no worse than a cut. I was in an accident on my bike a few weeks ago and had stitches and a local to remove glass from my elbow and it was grand.

Had a few plates put in after getting nocked off the bike left me with a collarbone break right where it joins the muscle. Getting the easier-to-get-at bits removed so that I can finally use a backpack with both straps. Might get back to rugby too, if an MUA to free up movement is successful. All the excitement!

Does anyone remember that time dregin and sullivio ran into each other on their bikes?

This hurricane is so bloody inconvenient for me. It's still not confirmed if the Buccaneers game is going to be on Sunday. How terrible for me.

This one is mental. 185mph winds. Basically the whole of the Caribbean is closed.

Yikes. Be awful for the people on the affected Caribbean islands.

And they've no idea where it'll make landfall in the US?

Florida most likely, there is a mandatory evacuation of the Key West region of Florida

Florida sometime Sunday/Monday I think, but that's a few days off so may change. The winds will have weakened a bit by then.

185mph winds at the moment. That would be terrifying, although it's the water that does the damage when these storms hit.

Florida and Texas. Two hot beds of climate change denial being massively impacted by weather systems caused by climate change.

I was going to bring that up but didn't want to upset anyone...but yes the tragic irony...but hey they're great hurricanes...

Yea I was just reading up on it there, apparently it's not likely to be a cat5 any more by the time it gets to the US as the Caribbean islands will weaken it.

Nooooo!! Not Key West. Love that place. Was looking at going back there in a few weeks. Hope it's not ruined. Yes I know I'm selfish.

Is it fair to call Florida a hotbed of climate change denial? It's a swing state, after all.
