This is likely not the right thread to post this but I didn't want to start a new thread and this was the only general NFL thread i could see. I've been a sporadic watcher for a few years now but am hoping to watch on a more regular basis this season and will likely sign up for Game Pass. Just wanted to know if anyone knows of a good preview show for the season ahead? If there's one on YouTube, Game Pass or even Sky. Just something to give me a rough idea of who/what to look out for and whats expected of certain teams. Thanks.

BBC actually had a season preview Friday night. I'm sure its available to stream somewhere, might need a VPN to get iPlayer or it might even be repeated. If its anyway like their weekly show then it would give you a decent grounding in what to expect/look for in the season. Sky Sports usually do a preview show as well but if memory serves that will be on this Thursday before the opening game.

Looks like TJ Ward is being picked up by the Bucs.

It would certainly bring some steel to the secondary, which has been a glaring weak point for the past few years.

Offensively if Winston can take care of the football even 10% better the Bucs are capable of winning 10+ games.

Would be nice to see playoff football back in Tampa.

Ward was terrific in Denver for three seasons after coming over from the Browns.

However, in the past season he had a lot of injury issues, particularly hamstring problems - he has lost a couple of steps and was a major liability in pass coverage. Ward is excellent against the run and in timing safety blitzes - but don't expect him to do anything in coverage. It is worth noting that the Bucs are only giving him a one-year deal - that is an indication of where he is at now.

I wish him all the best - great player and a great locker-room leader.

Major liability in pass coverage? Sounds like he will fit right in.

I expect the Bucs to be the best defence against the run this year but lose games to the likes of Eli due to being picked apart in the secondary.

Derek Carr, Carson Palmer and Drew Brees threw all over us last year and noy a huge amount has changed for the Bucs. Ward, Tandy, Hargreaves and Grimes all are big play makers in the secondary but all are liable to get beat for 6 on simple plays as well.

It's the Buccaneer way on both sides of the ball. Boom or bust.

Redskins second rounder from last season Su'a Cravens says he's retiring. He was injured for a lot of last season and is out with a knee issue at the moment. Don't know if he would have been a star or not but still a bit of a blow.

The cowboys doing cowboy things over the weekend..
Traded for two players over the weekend and created a wee bit of history in the process.
Bene Benwikere - for a conditional 2018 sixth and in doing so Jerry Jones has now completed a trade with each of the 31 teams in the NFL. He was part of their initial 53 man squad on Saturday
Jayrone Elliott - for a conditional 2019 pick
Also picked up Brian Price off waivers from the Packers.
In doing this the cowboys cut Cedric Thornton and Mark Nzeocha who were on their 53 man squad on Saturday.

Thornton counts as a $3m hit against this years cap which is a bit of a surprise but the Cowboys did have space.

Funny story about the Thornton, I got game worn cleats this off season from a Cowboys kit guy. Sean lee and Barry Church cleats. As an added bonus and unknown to me the guy also threw in a pair of game worn gloves from Thornton in with them. I was thinking hmmm he has very small hands cos they fit me very snugly and I'm not exactly a 270+lb D line man....

I don't know how it fits around your lifestyle but I find podcasts to be the best way to keep up with news around the league, etc. And every NFL podcast is all over the season preview thing right now.

I'm sure everyone has their own preferences but I think NFL.com's 'Around the NFL' podcast is the most enjoyable one out there. It's more about the characters and stories in the league then then technical side of the game which is probably why their overseas listener figures are so high.

Ya that and the dave dameshek show are two of the more light hearted pods. I like "GM Street" from the ringer and the Bill Barnwell show. Also some of the MMQB podcasts

Dunno if this was mentioned elsewhere, but the Bears cut Aguayo over the weekend. It's a tough business.

But because they had him for two weeks of pre-season they're on the hook for his $475k guaranteed wage for the year. That was such a stupid waiver claim.

It wasn't that stupid. They needed competition because Barth is ****e. Aguayo failed but there was still plenty of reason to think, given his college career etc, that it was down to the hype getting to him etc. The cost is something that the bears cap situation allowed them to absorb so they decided it was worth a try, the worst case scenario being that Barth was forced too compete for his position. It wasnt like the money was being taken from the GM's account, it's just one less Ivory backscratcher for the McCaskey family.

Hurricane Irma is looking like a big one(currently a category 5) and may effect the state of Florida at the weekend. The governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency in the state. The fact that both the Bucs and Dolphins play in Florida makes it difficult as the state of Florida is affected not just Miami.

The league I think needs to make a call by tomorrow Wednesday on whether the game will go ahead on Sunday or be moved to a neutral sight or moved forward or back in time to get around the hurricane.

NFL just announced that the game won't be played in Florida anyway

Looking like that Dolphin Buc game will be moved to week 11 when both on a bye week. Tough for both teams not to get bye later in year

Yeah 16 weeks in a row is rough stuff.

They should play it on Sunday in the new Georgia Dome. Afaik the Falcons are away Week 1.

16 weeks in a row is fairly brutal, also dolphins have a game in London aswell don't they?

Wow that's rough, no season opener and 16 weeks in a row.

Surely a neutral venue is a better option? I presume that's off the table as the NFL doesn't want to lose any ticketing money.

Crazy that the NFL had no back up better than this. Every NFL game should have a back up plan in case of a worst case scenario. These situations happen yearly and it just looks like the NFL wings it every time.

Would eliminating the bye week break the cba? I mean, presumably not, but I just wonder why it wouldn't.

NFL taking advantage of the coincidence that both teams are on bye the same weekend, wonder what they'd do if that solution wasn't available. Whatever it is, in the interests of fairness they should have done that. Puts them at a serious disadvantage on the season I think.

Zeke Elliot's suspension stands which is no surprise as the independent arbiter was not independent.

But since there was a delay in the decision (it went past the deadline for implementing suspensions for Week 1), he's able to play this Sunday.

Looks like Zeke's 6 game suspension will be upheld, though some talk that it won't begin until Week 2 which kinda confuses me.
