I hate it when this buffoonery comes on after Pat Kenny.

A death involving a person on a bike in the UK allows him to start the show with his weird anti cyclist obsession.

This is irresponsible at this stage. And that's before he starts drawing inaccurate parallels between our civil war and the American civil war.

He also seems to be unaware of the rules of the road.

He's just been pondering whether a motorist needs to look in his left wing-mirror before taking a left-turn across a cyclist's path. Of course they should, and shouldn't turn left until it's clear there's nothing comingup on the left hand side.

I hope George doesn't drive, or.if he does, that I dont encounter him on the bike.

Yet, his Today FM counterpart Matt Cooper (49) took more offence to Hook's "criminals" comments by retorting: "George, you're the criminal. You've a string of road traffic convictions".
"I found three last night when I was searching on the internet for a short period of time. There was a judge who said you were close to being a "serial" road traffic offender," he said. http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/television/george-youre-the-criminal-matt-cooper-slams-newstalks-george-hook-on-ireland-am-31349206.html

Oh, he does - big time, especially since the motorway to Cork was completed. He used to take the train. I imagine Hook drives like Mr.Magoo and leaves a trail of destruction behind him.

Heard a snippet of Hook over lunch. Predictably he got onto the bloody statues in relation to the Charlottesville incident (like nazis really give a toss about statues) and predictably took the view that they shouldn't be removed. TO HIS CREDIT, he actually conceded to counter argument put forward by visiting lecturer (sorry, forgot name).

I've no time for Hook anymore. He is such a laughable hypocrite it is just painful. The Rubberbandits need punishing for a few jokes about the Catholic Church but statues honouring men who were traitors to the United States and fought to preserve the enslavement of African Americans are all fine and dandy? Pathetic.

What a way to close out your career... becoming a shill for Trump and defending confederate traitor memorials...

Georgie's latest rant involves having a go at the water protestors for not marching against gangland activities. It's surreal. Sooner he retires the better.

Pete the vet was great at the end of the PK show.

It's not your fault George, you're just not educated about these things. You live in the last century.

    Love Pete the vet.

How about George starting a crusade of his own, he could start with Denis O'Brien's dominance in the Irish media.

I know people slag off Matt Cooper but the man deserves some credit, he is the only employee I'm aware of that has the b@lls to be critical of Dinny.

I heard Hook reference my favourite quote this morning in relation to the Dublin murders and apparently their author Micheal 'last sting of a dying wasp' McDowell is to be on the programme today. Failed Minister for Justice, failed AG and failed politician what can he possibly have to say that's worth hearing?

Even the intro line "The show that hits the high notes without harping on about it" is a contradiction.

    Jesus.

It's been said before, but Hook is basically low level trolling you, he's there to stir up a bit of controversy, agitate people a bit, it's all done on purpose.

Compare him to when he hosted his evening show, there's no comparson really.

The gangland boyos would only be delighted if people were marching about them.

Think of all those lovely empty houses while the owners are off roaring and shouting in front of Leinster House...

I hardly think gangs are interested in petty crime these days - bigger fish to fry...

Ah yes, the man with a plan. The plan maybe flawed, the plan maybe wrong, the man maybe weird, the man maybe unintelligent but the man does have a plan.

You could say the same thing about Ivan Yates, but thats not a bad thing, at least it's better than being all pc about stuff and not accepting another point of view. Whether you agree with them or not.

Can't believe Im defending Ivan, but at least he doesn't contradict experts in their field with his own anecdotal evidence

Marching classes wouldn't have anything worth robbing anyway, maybe a few flatties to pull off the wall and perhaps five or six 4g devices............

Outrage outrage. One minute the pinko liberal left are all trying to stop the terrorist being deported and in the next sentence he is saying not one Irish citizen wants him not to be deported. He doesnt even stay consistent from sentence to sentence. Whatever point he is trying to make is lost. Its just outrage.

Does it seem like all of newstalk is to generate controversy and get texts in, then play the victim when someone tells them off.

I often catch the start of it after Pat, before I get a chance to move the dial.

What was the crisis yesterday that had him demanding Leo come back from wherever he is (Canada?)

Cant remembe it myself. i often zone out on George. I think George is just trying to get the Taoiseach's attention and pick a media fight.

I mean George has said in the past that no matter what happens, he always has and always will vote FG. So why would anyone in FG bother to even acknowledge him

Hook claims housing. He went on the same rant two days in a row. Varadkar tweeted something back after his first rant which seemed to have rubbed Hook up the wrong way and he lost his balls again. Hook seems to be upset more so about the PR machine around Varadkar than anything else.

Varadkar shouldn't even rise to Hook's nonsense, he should be above that. If he's not careful, he'll say something that will send Hook off to his solicitors again.

Varad is building some bridges between us and Canada. They are close to us in many ways. We are a small country and will need friends.

Hooke should leave his rants about that until Varad gets home
