Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

no dedicated thread yet for this, starts in 3 days :)

    the big questions,

    1. will NZ match the ridiculous record of last year where they achieved try bonus points in every single game, to end up on the maximum of 30 points?

    2. has the green shoots of a revival of bok rugby began?? will the team selected be based upon a majority of lions players and will they play expansively?

    3. how much in the doldrums is Aussie rugby ? are they good enough to scrap for second place again?

    4. those argies eh.... ;) can they improve on 1 win from last season?

Has there ever been talk of changing the fixture lists in the comp.

As per usual Arg and SA are away in 3 of the first 4 weeks and Nz and Oz are at home in 3 of the first 4 weeks, actually Nz have 3 home games in a row!

I think as a tournament it could do with a bit of change in the fixture list.

Cheers Syd. I was just coming on here to start a thread. I know how excited a lot of posters here are about watching some top quality rugby for a change. Especially IBF :D

There are a lot of interesting subplots in this year's Championship.

For the ABs: will McKenzie or Havilli nail down the FB spot with Smith on sabbatical and Jordie injured? Can Savea win his spot back? Best midfield? Franks is old and carrying an injury and Faumauina has gone; who is going to step up at TH? Is Jerome on the way out?

For the Wallabies: can they restore some pride in the jersey and credibility to Aussie rugby? They have a lot of rookies, will they make the step up? Any superstars? Will Cheika get a rise out of Hansen? When will Cheika lose his **** at a press conference?

For SA: Are the Boks back or was the France series a false dawn? What style will they play; traditional or expansive? What exciting young prospect will burst on the scene?

For the Argies: are they improving or have they plateaued? Can they get more than one win? Can they get their first win over the ABs?

    Can't wait for Saturday!!

Lots of subplots because the main story is a foregone conclusion?

'Lovely calm voice of Wayne Barnes there'

Not sure i'd ever call it that

    Looked it

Thought that was forward. Kerevi looked like a prop chasing back there

Surprised it didn't get called back to have a check at least

That last pass was worth a TMO check

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    Beale taken out there too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

McKenzie taking his SR form into this.

    Dropped?

    Nope, great try

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

That was far too easy. No way Folau should have been caught on the outside like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

    Dreadful defence

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

That was truly awful from Folau. Who did he think he was going for turning back in like that?

My God this is a slaughter. Aussie defence is terrible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,564 ✭✭✭RugbyLover123

Exactly what Oz rugby didn't need. This could be a record score line..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Ben Smith so good under a high ball in a way that only NZers are able to be thanks to their background in Maori football. I believe Smith played midfield for Otago in the All-New Zealand Minors final in 2004

Australia looked good for first 15 minutes and still were leaking scores. This could be an awful spectacle if the Aussie's let their heads drop.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Some good attacking work from Aussie there but needed to pop back out to 10 there rather than go around the fringes.

Lets hope Argentina/SA put up more of a fight on the home turf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Ah lads, give us a bit more than half an hour of a game, like!

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

This could get very, very embarrassing for Australia

Big credit to SBW, he's looking good today but he didn't even get the benefit of that hugely important training match. He's inspirational, its been a hard road for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,720 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    Barnes is annoyingly chatty today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Can we cut the Australian team from international rugby

I suspect Aussie would lose just as heavily if it descended into an all-out brawl.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

I don't even know what to say at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Let's be kind to the boards.ie servers, and comment only after the minutes when NZ don't score.

NZ making yards way too easily all game.
They do not even have to do anything overly special to gain. Aussies terrible

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

The pass for the first was undoubtedly forward.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,186 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

The Australian defence is woeful. No organisation and structure. That player Speight may as well be on the sideline though he is hard to miss with the hairstyle.

All blacks don't kick penalties either as opposed to aussies kicking penalties when in attacking 22.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

McKenzie deserved that. Poor pass to Hooper there, right into his face.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Kuridrani seems to be a big loss at 13. Defensively the new 13 is at sea.

Absolutely masterful. The ground covered by McKenzie, and the time Ioane bought with the step. So simple, but so devastating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,189 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Barrett strips Hooper of the ball in contact. New Zealand score off the turnover.

    This is embarrassing for Australia.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

NZ defensive line not getting stretched really there at all.

    Chieka sounds unrecognisably meek.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

That was a farce defensively. How the hell was Squire allowed make that ground!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Miss a single tackle against NZ, and it's possibly going to lead to a try. Miss as many as Aus are missing, and it's a certainty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Most points ever scored against Australia in a Test match and there's 30 minutes left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

    Game on now. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Sky were showing the 2011 HEC final highlights beforehand. An omen for the best ever comeback in Test rugby?????

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    Good score there.
