There should be some way for folks to show their feelings re the legend that has departed Galway GAA. A number of books of condolences at clubhouse's in the city and county maybe ?

    Just my 2c.

Nice tribute from Pete Finnerty and Brendan Lynskey on off the ball. Both men finding it hard to hold it together towards the end. Goes to show the esteem in which Tony was held and he seemed to be a bit of a character. Sad to see a man so young pass away.

RIP Tony Keady an absolute legend of the game, an old style tough as teak centre back who could hurl as well, I always thought it was a shame that a lot of hurling people only ever remembered him or spoke of him because of '89 he was so much more than that to the game, Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.

Well, that should make it easier on the ticket front at least.

Neutrals will be up for this now.

Will still be a lot easier than if it was Galway v Cork.

Better for tickets now that cork aren't in it but I'd have preferred cork in the final. Galway could have bullied and physically dominated cork. I'd be more concerned now that Waterford are there.

Congratulations to Waterford today. Better team won by far. Don't be making statements like that though yet. Waterford played in an All Ireland Final in 2008 and we know who filled their their underwear that day. It's going to be a big occasion for Waterford. They haven't won the All since 1959 so best of luck.

Probably went as well as it could.

Cork were probably the better team until the red card, so the worst team might well have won which is what we wanted.

What Waterford will do is give us a spare man in defence and we've came up against this a few times over the past few years with success.

Mac can take AG is he goes down the middle and DB will hold Maurice or whoever who they decide to put into FF.

We won't be as wasteful with balls out of defence and lads like Harte and Mannion are well able to bang over long range points.

Added bonus that C.Gleeson is gone for the final and Austin might have a case to answer.

TBH I don't think it mattered either way who we played as Cork would have played us man to man and we'd have them in the air in a number of lines while Waterford will allow us to have an extra back while Cooney and Whelan are well accustomed to working against an extra defender.

We've hit over 20 scores in our last 6/7 competitive games, we know already we can win a game without scoring a goal(funny how ppl kept saying going into the Tipp game we hadn't a hope without getting some yet we won anyway) as our point scoring has been so consistent.

Would have preferred Cork to be honest. I think we would have eaten them without salt in the final.

Waterford will be a tough nut to crack. They are very dogged and more physical than Cork. We are used to playing against the sweeper system though. Everyone we've played this Summer apart from Tipp has used at least one and sometimes two sweepers. Albeit Waterford have better players than Wexford, Dublin or Offaly.

Looks like it could be a handy one for Galway - Austin Gleeson could be banned:

Have to feel for lads missing out on an All Ireland. Letter of the law neither Gleeson will be there

Very very tough for a player to be banned for the biggest game of his career to date. Awful nightmare. Both Gleesons would be a massive loss for Waterford

I thought Adrian Tuohy's was intentional too. He was just way more cute about it than Gleeson today but he knew what he was at. Gleeson's discipline will count against him though.

I hope he doesn't get banned. He deserves to, but I'd hate to have an asterix beside the win like Clare have against theirs. We're good enough to beat them at their strongest and I hope they have them all.

So it's the first time ever we are meeting in the senior final. It's going to be a special day no matter who wins, I'm not going to begrudge ye an all Ireland. It's going to be unreal not seeing the usual suspects jerseys around on final day but we both proved were no longer the bridesmaids of hurling

Best of luck, may the best team win. Hurling needs the 2016 hoty and yhoty too play in the final (bit biased lol)

Really? I only saw it a couple of times but to me, it seemed he didnt even look at the opponent and an outstretched arm just caught the helmet by accident. I would be very impressed if he was graceful enough to intentionally grab somebody's helmet while running at that pace in the direction he was running! But maybe I am not remembering it correctly and need to watch again.

I agree. You can't even compare them. Touhy had just won the ball and was breaking away with the player completely behind him. I can't see the thought process there where he says I think i'll reach back here and rip yer mans helmet off.
Gleeson was completely malicious and intentional. He had only one thought on his mind when sliding past Meade and his has form for this kind of petty rubbish too.
