See WGC rules: No alternate list, you either qualify or you don't, simples :)

    Eligible players are:

-- Playing members of the 2013 U.S. and International Presidents Cup teams. NOTE: In odd-numbered years, playing members of the last-named U.S. and European Ryder Cup teams shall replace the last-named Presidents Cup teams.

-- The top-50 players, including any tied for 50th place, from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday, July 21, 2014, and Monday, July 28, 2014.

-- Tournament winners, whose victories are considered official, of tournaments from the Federation Tours since the prior year’s Bridgestone Invitational (with an Official World Golf Ranking Strength of Field Rating of 115 points or more).

-- The winner of the following tournaments from each of the following Tours: Japan Golf Tour Championship (2014) and Bridgestone Open (2013) from the Japan Golf Tour; Australian PGA Championship (2013) from the Australasian Tour; Dimension Data Pro-Am (2014) from the Southern Africa Tour; and Thailand Golf Championship (2013) from the Asian Tour.

Ok Cheers. So the European Tour website made a balls of it adding alternates to the list.

Exactly, ET website is still a crock of sh1t

It's also ridiculous that members of the Ryder cup teams are singled out. Basically Davis Love III and Thomas Bjorn picking a chunk of the field ( although they'd probably all have qualified anyway).

    ???

That is the entry requirements, also Thomas Bjorn was not last years captain.

I'm saying why should 7 or 8 players who could be picked on a whim by a ryder cup captain automatically get into a lucrative competition that has nothing to do with the ryder cup? Qualification should be based on solely on how players performed individually based on world rankings or results on the major tours.

I'm also aware that the picks probably would have all qualified by other means but I disagree with it in principle.

Can someone clarify something for me? In the 2nd video they joke about a "new drop". Is that a rule change? Haven't heard anything

They play the proposed 2019 rule changes in Crossfield's videos. This includes putting with the flag in, dropping from just above the ground, etc. http://www.randa.org/News/2017/03/Preview-of-proposed-new-Rules-of-Golf-unveiled-by-RandA-and-USGA

New found respect for Shane for putting up with that Crossfield gobsite for 8 holes

Remind me of Austin Powers, bit annoying but kind of harmless enough in small doses.

Very tough on Shane at 17 after super golf. Seemed an unusual place for a yellow hazard.

Hopefully he can reproduce today's golf tomorrow

Was it not anywhere he dropped it near where it went over the hazard line was closer to the hole? Therefore he had to either cross to the far side of the water or drop it where he hit it from. I thought chose to take advantage of the drop zone so that he could play from the short grass

If it's a yellow hazard he would have had to either drop where he played the 2nd from or back in drop zone.

No yellow he'd to keep the hazard in line. Red at point of entry.

Just very unusual to see a player beyond the hazard then having to go back🙈

Is it definitely a lateral hazard at that point? Didn't really take any notice until I saw where he was dropping

Yeah that's what I thought. Even if there was a point within two club lengths that wasn't nearer the hole he'd have been dropping in that heavy rough again. He probably thought he had a better chance from the drop zone. He was unlucky it spun so far back and then unlucky with the putt.

It was defo yellow all the way around, just unusual and unlucky to have the lie he did where he did I suppose.

Well if it's a yellow hazard you must either replay the shot or drop behind the hazard. The extra option of the point where the ball crossed the hazard is for lateral hazards.

Ah I know that, just surprised it wasn't red on that side.

Nice interview with Shane after the round as well. He really needs a good weekend too.

Really moving on the back 9, eagle has him at 13 under, tied for 4th , only 2 shots behind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

It all happened on the back 9! That bogey on the last was a killer, but still a decent round.

Looks like he's going to finish tied 5th and just miss playoffs

Finished tied seventh. Will he keep his tour card after that result?

He will be out of the top 125 (projected 127) so won't make the playoffs but he's ok for next year on account of the three year exemption he got from the 2015 WGC Bridgestone.
