Just normal girls, sharing their lives with the world, who don't mind sticking to rules and regulations?

Grace featured the new rimmel lipsticks on her snaps today no #sp but Tara shared them too and she did #sp on the snaps

She didn't really sing their praises though, so I doubt it was an ad. She said she wasn't sure about the one she had on.

I think they were just a press sample, Rosanna Davidson got them too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

They sound more like press samples, which they don't have to #, they don't have to even show them if they don't want to.
Most do though, as if they don't they might not be sent anything in the future

Ya that's true I guess! she didn't sing their praises which I'm sure she would have if it was sponsored just thought it was interesting like the cheerios one person shows it and doesn't put the hash tag but someone else shows it and does

I honestly don't think she even cares to cater to a target market, except maybe mums. All she does is unbox freebies, it's beyond lazy. As I said, I'm only following out of curiosity to see how she tries to break ASAI guidelines, she just can't seem to help herself.

I hope people are reporting when they post here! I know the ASAI don't do much but even a rattle on the knuckles is better then anything! Maybe some people need more then one tho!

What's the point in reporting though? She was already investigated and nothing happened except they advised her to use the hashtag on her posts. The ASAI can't actually impose any sanctions or fines (or so I believe? Open to correction on that) so there is literally no incentive for anyone to report, which is frustrating.

Yea I think you're right. I think the idea is that if enough people complain, it'll launch an investigation and having your name out there so publically like that will have brands avoid working with you. But clearly this hasn't been the case with Grace. Nothing happened to her bar a few articles about her, and she's back at it now as bad as ever. The ASAI seem to be taking the approach of naming and shaming and hoping they'll be embarrassed into compliance.
I think it's clear however that the blogger doesn't seem to care and brands don't care. Reporting seems to be a big waste of time.

It's better than not reporting imagine how much worse she could be if she wasn't mentioned in those articles,, she has improved since the start of the year when she was claiming she bought a currys tv she was given for free and promoting baby food,,
I do believe the more she gets reported and investigated the less companies will work with her the majority of companies she promotes now are fairly unknown ..

Really they should issue massive fines to the companies that are paying "influencers" to promote their products and not ensuring they are using #ad/#sp. That would stop them working with certain influencers fairly fast. But it seems most companies don't really care, they're getting a boost in sales so they're not going to complain.

It seems like some companies are actively trying to sidestep the rules too, Grace said that skinny tea brand actually told her not to hashtag and the #iworkwithpenneys is clearly coming from Penneys themselves as there a number of bloggers using it. I think it's time the ASAI actually got the finger out and went after the companies.

Maybe if we take a different angle to it and start reporting the brands who are being advertised instead of the blogger. I may do that next time.

Blogger needs to take responsibility for themselves too.
Look at Suzanne Jackson, pretty much 3 weddings rolled into one, highly doubt she put much money into it, huge spread in a magazine, companies and venues being recommended left right and centre, 3 wedding dresses modelled and not one word in #ad or #spon or gifted.

Word is, the k club wouldn't give her the venue free of charge so she didn't advertise them.

That's exactly what they should do fine them and then see how quick the companies ensure these influencers follow the guidelines

That wedding was one long advertisement nothing personal or private about it.. not one thing paid for .. even the rings were free

I think it's vital to keep reporting, if viewers don't kick up a fuss, the ASAI will do even less than they do now. It'll be a slow start, but without viewers making an effort to call out wrongdoing, there will be no change at all. Let's not forget, this is all relatively new in Ireland, so rules etc won't be changed overnight. Please don't give up reporting when you see something wrong!

Is Terrie mcevoy sponsered by black magic tan does anyone know she's advertising it with no # ,, she advertises a lot of products without the relevant #

She's not using #ad as she's using #brandambassador which she seems to think is sufficent. She's also brand ambassador for sosue and spotlight teeth whitening and doesn't use #ad.

I'm starting to think maybe the #brandambassador must be covering her somehow as she uses #ad/#sp for so many other brands so I don't believe she's trying to hide the fact she's being paid.

Maybe I'm being influenced by this #brandambassador and buying into the hype :D

I'd say she uses brand ambassador so it doesn't look like another ad.,, all she does is promote products there's a good few products that she just doesn't # anything on ,,, there was a stage where every snap and Instagram pic was tower jewellers so I unfollowed for a long time I came across her Instagram again today and nothing's changed it's all plugging brands

I followed Terrie for a while but I found her to be an actual head wreck. Funny how the whole blogging thing just fell into her lap she didn't even pursue it. I feel like she'll promote anything because she's not that into it as she's a nurse, so to me she doesn't actually care about how she's perceived really she just wants to make money from it. Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's what you're into, but it's for sure just a gig on the side to make money rather than an actual career like others.

I feel the same as she's not a blogger she will promote everything and anything for a few euro with no loyalty to her following I just get the impression her attitude is if they want to buy the crap I promote then that's there own stupid fault .. that's why I unfollowed her she doesn't review anything just says look at this it's great no actual real opinion... there are a few influencers out there I don't get like her why are companies sending her brands does she have a blog now or something??

I find Terrie McEvoy such a head wreck, I had to unfollow her! The constant #mylifeissogreat was beyond annoying! I had to delete her after she fell off the bike and went on about it as if she lost a limb - it was so dramatic and attention seeking!

The beautiful truth used #prsample on some snaps lately, I thought that was a nice touch. She normally does say if things were sent to her or bought by her.
