Selling on behalf of an elderly gentleman.. would ya ever go an ****.

I'd say he knows the man that was selling it and guessed it's worth more so they deleted the add and re. advertised.

The original add is coming up as seller updating add or something along those lines as opposed to the usual "sold" too.

I commuted Southampton to London for a week in one of these about 18 years ago. It was a 740, V8.. never been in anything that impressed me as much for comfort and smoothness including E65 and S class Diana car. Great job and GLWS.

Always like to hear of people who drove them near new, such a formidable car in its day.

Lovely car, Voodoo, why are you selling? You only just bought it back!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,653 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

So many reasons to be honest.
I bought it back with the intention to keep it and drive it periodically. But when I saw the bits that needed doing and I was halfway in, I knew I couldn't justify the running costs and refurbing along side another car that has already high running costs.

It costs me €3000 a year to tax and insure the 740Li before a km is driven, €1800 to tax and insure the 728i for the odd weekend, plus the money I had to put into it was just silly.

Plus i'm in the final stages of a significant house restoration and things need to get finished.

So I kept at the refurbing and it's now in fantastic nick, good enough to get a return on the money put in and a little more.

Which is sad in a way, I've never put more time or effort into any project in my life than this E38 over all the time I owned it. I'd be just as happy to see someone else actually driving it though than sitting in my store as a showpiece.

I'd love to own it if insure wasn't such a hassle for me :(

If you already have insurance, two companies are quoting for classics on this model, €490 is what I got and a chap that saw it on Saturday got €420.

Age is the issue here :pac:

    Still under 25.

Anyone remember the LS 460 that Swinford Motors had advertised at 6500k? Any way I wasted a day travelling to see it a few months ago only to be told by Derek they wanted 9500K for it. I phoned this evening to see did they drop the price and was told they now want 12950 for it....

The salesman in Swinford was a total arsehole on the phone....

I even said I'm a genuine caller as I'm driving a GS and he replied I don't care!

I think this one is more of a barge tho. 4.2 V8, NCT till 2018, has tax till september, and unsurprisingly 1 owner. Its always so easy to spot a genuine ad. First thing to look for is a first and surname in the contact details! €2250
