I'm aware of the love the C6 gets but anyone else think it's an awful looking thing? It's Ssangyong ugly.

interior is nice but the outside is woeful.

    Polar opposite here,

My wife begged me to get that C6 at auction for her. She loves my Lexus too.

Does less than nothing for me either but they obviously have a following. Horses for courses.

A C6 is at a different level of refinement and luxury to a C5 though.

I love the outside, especially the hind quarter. The dash leaves a bit to be desired but it' typically Citroen, which is cool for that car.
But yeah, each to their own.

The typical Irish C5 and the C6 are a different level but high spec C5s arent far off C6.
The V6 C5 engine is the same as the C6 , also the C5s hydraulic suspension is of a similar level of comfort to the C6.

Putting a v6 in a car like the first gen c5 leads to one seriously overlooked car alright. I'd say you'd have a hard time finding too many of them about. They used to have it in gran turismo lol.

I see they stopped sellling the 2nd gen c5 sometime in the recent enough past. Thought it was a huge improvement over the first gen in styling, finish and overall desirability but sales must have totally tapered off.

Yes that Citroen is an absolute Marmite car. Some will love it. Most will think it's pig ugly. I think its rotten.

Really like the C6 as well. Gotta come down a lot in value until one would be worth a punt. Have had a few Citroens now & can be got reasonably cheap as they're not everyones cup of tea & you need to be a bit mechanically sympathetic to own one.

I couldnt justify paying that tax on that older shape S class. Would be great for a taxi!

ah ok, suppose it would be a pig on the juice too. I just cant see virtually any market for this older s class

LPG it, would make the fuel bill much more palatable.

And that's exactly why they sell for almost nothing.

That's actually a very nice looking car, I like the understated wheels and that colour is quite rare on a Merc, looks great.

    Something I've wondered about....
There are a fair few people who are tax exempt for various reasons, 'motobility' for disabled people, some carers etc. Do many of these cars get used in these circles. I'd imagine it would make for economic, reliable, and comfortable enough motoring.

My dad used to be tax exempt but as far as I remember (this was a few years ago) only on a brand new car on which he also didn't pay VAT/VRT.

i.e he couldn't buy a ten y/o S class and pay no road tax.

Doesn't have to be brand new to be exempt from tax and vrt. If you are entitled to these exemptions you can also apply to for free tolls as well.

What a fantastic colour - the silver and black ones are ten a penny, but the navy oozes class IMHO. It probably says ''I'm not worried about the trade in value of the car when I'm finished with it''.

Anyway, Jeeves fetch my navy handbag and shoes, I'm off for a spot of lunch.

Here's one. Drool, majorly. I'd take it over an A4 any day.

and 210 bhp V6 on top of the looks. And hydropneumatic suspension that actually works...

    That's an amazing car.

Two front windows regulators gone. Could be expensive, could be cheap... probably not cheap, though.

    Good find regardless.

Crazy to think that at less than ten years old this is worth under five grand. NCT to Jan 18, few weeks tax, €4750

.... it's been on DD for quite a while. I've been tempted but the window regulators remind me of the flakiness of French cars and from what I remember it's close to needing a timing belt change. For the same money you can get an 07 GS300 - not as comfortable but a lot more reliable.
