****ing Fergie, could have had Strootman wrapped up for a bargain and our deep holding midfielder problem sorted for years.

he would have been in the physio room for most of it :p

The universe my friend. Signing for United could have put him down a different path and trajectory of variables where his injury might not have occurred :D

They've become the most annoying club in Europe, they need to get off the ****ing high horse and stop commenting on other clubs/manager decisions.

I would find it annoying, but then I remember he represents the club nicknamed FC Hollywood in their own country because of all the non-sense and drama that surrounds the club.

Glasshouses and stones. It's a bit like Barca and their "more than a club" non-sense pretending to be holier than thou when they are anything but.

Considering they bought him last summer for around the €35million mark, and he's not lived up to that price tag I don't see how they would expect €50million.

With the clauses that kicked in he has cost them more then the initial layout so I think they are trying to recoup what they spent so far.

Sorry I know it's probably been asked already but who was on co-commentary last night alongside Paddy Crerand on MUTV?

Watched it on ESPN myself but if he said the phrase "big and powerful" 25 times, it was probably Bojan Djordjic.

Did he do enough to trigger any clauses?

Barkley is a good player, no question about it, but he is not good enough for Man Utd, decent squad player but for the prices quoted, no thanks

I agree and most importantly he's not the sort of player that is needed even if he was good enough.

Having watched both friendlies v City and RM, I think they really were two very different games.

Against City in the NRG Stadium in Houston, the roof was closed with the air con switched on. This made for a far more intense game, one that both sides wanted to win (Even 2-0 down at 90 mins, City players were were running to get play resumed when the ball went dead) and had the energy to pursue that desire to win. It was only a pre-season game, but it was actually a decent game of football.

Yesterday's game in the blistering heat of California was a different story. It more resembled those early games v Salt Lake where the players were mostly just trying to keep the ball and regain some fitness. The first half was decent yesterday, but in those conditions this was only going to be a fitness exercise. I'm looking forward to seeing how we really fare against Real Madrid in the Super Cup in a few weeks time.

Apparently it was 86 fahrenheit, which is probably 30 degrees.

That's high for our guys, but I suppose it depends on the humidity too.

I've found 30 degrees to be pleasant with a coastal breeze in the Algarve.

I almost lay down and gave up while walking around Washington DC in 30 degrees.

    Agent Pogba...

Lukaku to MUTV: "Everytime me and Paul Pogba would go to the city to have dinner, he would drive on purpose past Old Trafford (to show me)"

Almost did the same myself in Southern France, 50 degrees weather was a bitch.

Yet the lads in the first half could handle it and that was against Madrids first team players.

I did think about the conditions and they may have had some effect but not to that extent.

Maybe the double training sessions and fourth game in 9 days would impact on them.

I imagine they have expelled a lot of energy trying to get fitness levels up for the season ahead. Minds not as focused with the second string side opponents and early injury to Ander upsetting balance.

Had put that in my post originally but thought that it was getting a bit long winded as it was - The players did seem to cope with the conditions better early on and it provided for a more entertaining first half.

Anyway, I'm just saying that the energy and intensity on display was higher in the City game and feel that the conditions had some part to play. Not using the weather to excuse the poor performances or decisions yesterday - the heat didn't make Lindelof kick Hernandez rather than tackle him, but it played its part in the quality and tempo of the match.

one thing about it being a young madrid side in the second half, the young madrid players may have been operating at a higher intensity than United did in either half or madrid did in the first half. Those young lads had points to prove and places to win, while the United players may have been basically out for a stroll (which I am disappointed with, but ho hum)

Has there been any talk of us being on for Renato Sanches? Seems strange we wouldn't be in on any potential loan with option to buy deal that could be available. Nothing to lose.

    http://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2017/07/24/59763da0e2704efc708b4575.html

Marca have footage of Jose talking to Bale before the match, saying...

"No puedo comprarte porque no hablaste..."

    translates to

"I can't buy you because you don't talk"
