Loved watching A Pereira last night. He was the only positive for the majority of the first half, until Tony got bored and unleashed the silky feet.

Hopefully Pereira is involved a fair bit this season.

Missed the game but I keep hearing conflicting things about Pereira's performance.

It's mad the huge difference of opinions. Some saying he looked the part others say he looked dreadful.

During the game I looked up BBC live commentary and they were praising him, came on here to see what people thought and first thing I saw was saying he looked lost out there.

Only a preseason at the end of the day, would love to see Pereira sneak in some game time this season, but I do feel he may be loaned again.

One consistent opinion I keep seeing however is that my man Jones had another good game. Forget Lindelof, Bailly, Rojo and Smalling, Big Phil is coming to take that CB spot.

I'm not even sure how transfers work anymore to be honest.

More I read and learn about modern transfers I marvel how any deal actually gets done. Long gone seem to be the days of managers or execs ringing each other enquiring about a player, having a cheeky query on another player while on the line and then thrashing something out.

Seems like nowadays the player arrangement are all done in the dark before the clubs even first speak. Which is a bit ridiculous.

It's the next big "void" of dodgy **** in football that one day will need to get sorted through and made transparent.

As much as there are pitfalls, wouldn't it be lovely if you lodged a bid formally, and that it was announced either by an impartial body or by the receiving/bidding club. And you just knew what was going on :)

Pereira for me when he came onto the scene was a player I figured wouldn't make it. You need to be a massive talent to break into the first XI in the positions he was playing in, the likes of 10 etc. And I didn't think he was good enough.

He has looked a lot more composed and confident on this tour and looks OK in terms of his midfield performances. I wouldn't be raving about him, but I'd definitly be more positive then I was before and imagine he will likely stick with the first team for the season as an understudy to Pogba and Hererra. No way he's playing deep lying.

But when you see Hererra go off last night, if that's in the league or champions league who is coming on ? Carrick, Feelaini...and that is it. Hardly inspiring options.

So I think if he accepts he will get opportunities with the games we have, a perfect understudy to Herrera and Pogba's roles. And by god do we need some re-enforcement there.

He was really good. Solid and unspectacular so probably doing what he was told to do by Jose. Very good at keeping the ball and winning it back too.

Nice little bit of smart play by him

On herrera going off I thought McTomminey was very good when he came on too. Great ball for the fellaini chance.

It's a funny thing. I always have had Pereira tacked down as one to make it true, by god I've been way wrong with those predictions many times.

I think at this stage it's more so of hope rather than belief on my part. He did play a lot of football in La Liga last year that no doubt would have helped his improvement but time will tell if he's good enough.

Yeah, not so long ago we had so many CM options, now we really are bare. Makes me believe Dier deal will be done before window closes.

I liked Lidleof last night too. Aside from his nuclear bomb of a tackle, I don't recall him making any mistakes?

I don't think Madrid had many, if any, clear cut chances on target. Fosu Mensah looked good too, but he'll be a bench option and nothing more I suspect.

For me when I see a young player they need to make an explosive start, or be an incredible talent for me to think at the preliminary stages they are going to make it.

Simple enough for me considering the size of the club, what we need to compete for, and that there isn't really time to wait. Ferguson was fine doing it because he was there so long he was managing the squab building well, gently introducing people every now and then, but the core was the core.

And I've been of the belief "the class of 92" was just a once of, like Barcalona's crop, and I'm consistently underwhelmed by the players we bring through.

I would wish for there to be more patience and more acadamy youngsters being brought through and given time, but that just isn't the world we live in. When you think back, if it wasn't for an injury, likely wouldn't have even have seen Rashford. He got given a chance, took it, never looked back. But he got that chance from pure luck, granted Van Gaal seemed to have been keeping tabs on him with the youth people, he still needed an injury to get a shot.

So I give graduates and youth players the benefit of the doubt, but they always start basically from a point of "you probably won't cut it", so with those tempered expectations early on, I can then get nicely surprised by a Rashford or whoever. And then I'm looking at what they need to do better, and if they start showing that it can be a nice progression, in terms of me as a fan judging or evaluating.

Can't remember a time when I saw a youth graduate and immediately lost my **** thinking this was the next thing, and I include Rashford in that.

He's been a bit ropey in terms of pressing people at the box lining shots, he was at fault I'd say for the two Galaxy goals, howler tackle last night and I missed the City game so don't know.

But he has shown I guess what was said about him, shrewd in terms of reading the game and snuffing danger, and takes up good defensive and covering positions while play unfolds.

I'd say just a case of him getting comfortable, getting exposure to playing in our team but also playing in England and then gradually coming into the mix. I'm hoping he is the brain at centre back we have been missing since Ferdinand, and to a certain extent Blind under Van Gaal at CB.

We've a bit too many balls to the wall, rash centre backs for my liking always sliding, last ditch tackling and recovering. I'm hoping Lindelof becomes a central figure to manage that defence and be the brain of our defensive org. That seems to be what he is and talked about, an incredible reader of the game and defensive leader at such a young age.

    Fcuk off with those digs.

I thought the second half has been terrible for United, you think differently or don't care how the players play, fine. No need to take shots at me though.

But it's ok for you to be constantly making dig and taking shots at Ed Woodward?

I'm sure you'll be quick to point of that he's not on Boards. Makes no difference in my opinion. Don't dish out what you can't take yourself.

You (and everyone one of us here) are clueless about what is involved in signing players and negotiating multi million pound deals. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. There's still about 6 weeks left in the transfer market but I'm already bored of your over the top outbursts at Woodward.

Anyone else think Jesse was great in the first half last night? I know the goal was a simple enough tap in thanks to Martial but honestly I thought he did very well myself.

Seems to be making better decisions this tour, it was always my issue with him. Gets into great positions and creates plenty of chances for himself but the final ball or shot was more often than not frustrating.

Fair enough if thats the part of my post you want to address. Nothing to say about the apparent hypocrisy (in my opinion) of you complaining about others making digs and taking shots?

Said before that the problem with Lingard is the final ball. He is a great runner and a great worker. He is a very intelligent footballer in terms of movement and positioning and his touch can be very good. The problem is that his final ball can let him down too often and he doesn't have the skill to go past a man, imo, which limits him in the final third.

Its been a good pre-season for him but I expect nothing less from him to be honest. His energy and running will always mark him out, even more so in the more relaxed surroundings of a friendly. I have no issue with him at the club - I hope he stays and continues to contribute as an important squad player. I don't think he has the quality to be what we want in a first choice player though. I don't think anything I have seen this summer has changed my mind on him - he'd have to perform at a higher level in properly competitive games.

You said you are bored of my opinions as they relate to football, on this football forum why should I put any effort into engaging with you?

I think discussing (even negitively, shock horror) any member of staff at the club is completely fair game. Whether that is Fellaini, Martial, Lindelof, Mourinho or Woodward. Discussing and commenting on their performances is completely fair, otherwise what are we doing here? Taking shots at posters is completely different, imo.

Looks like Renato Sanches is going to be on the move - Bayern looking to loan/sell him. Seemingly looking for 43million (is that 50million euro?) for him though which seems insane, even in the current market.

i'd take him on loan for a year with option to buy. if he proves himself then that could be a decent price if he doesnt then we dont buy

He really has dropped off after such an impressive Euros. But then again not an awful lot of tape on him beforehand with only one season in the top flight.

Considering they bought him last summer for around the €35million mark, and he's not lived up to that price tag I don't see how they would expect €50million.

Honestly can't see them selling him however, yes he's struggling atm but he's still under 20 years old and you would imagine can only get better. A loan deal seems the most logical at this point.

I mentioned this last week.. i'd be happy to take him for two years at a pre agreed sale price (€50m as suggested) and see if he becomes a baller. I believe Milan pulled out of a two year loan deal last week. I may be incorrect on that.

Also Lol'd at hoeness saying clubs spending massive money €100m+ are showing weakness... hmmmm pot kettle black Mr Hoeness... Bayern have spent hefty sums of money in their own right and asset stripped several of their rivals in recent history

They've become the most annoying club in Europe, they need to get off the ****ing high horse and stop commenting on other clubs/manager decisions.

They operate in a brilliant fashion, but Hoeness is getting a bit tiresome with his hollier than thou attitude.

For a club that has relatively no competition domestically, can strip rivals of their best players, is disproportionately funded and can happily operate in the generally lower €€€ german market, one CL win in the last ten years is pretty pathetic for the scenario they find themselves in with the benefits associated.

And to be fair while a lot of their operations can be admired, it's hardly like they have been **** hot in the transfer market in recent years. They tend to spend some elaborate money themselves, with as many duds as success'

On Sanchez, again, if they want to offload they will be looking to the likes of us, and other top clubs. He's basically been a flop since going there, unimpressing greatly and failing to kick on from the Euros. This is a player that didn't even appear on http://inbedwithmaradona.com (a great resource for up and coming hot property that get monitored over a season) and while they admit it might have been an oversight on their part, they outline it like the Rashford situation that he was on no ones radar until circumstance fell his way.

Them looking for anything more then £20m is them being proud. To be honest probably ridiculous to even sell him, it's surely a loan. And again who will they look to to pickup his wages and costs, the big clubs. If he couldn't break into a Bayern team that walk their domestic league, not sure what he will do under the weekly pressure at United.

I know it's the same lame drum and a very obscure and ridiculous thing I keep saying, but if we are going to blow 30m on a midfielder on a hope, then I'd rather buy Barkley, who I'd have greater faith of achieving something over Sanchez.

There are unwritten rules on how to post in this forum, just have the same opinion as the regular posters here and you'll be fine. Also, no need to be negative about the club or its staff, unless it's about one of our recently departed players.

I'd love for us to get Barkley. Once touted as next big thing. Still only 23 and if we could bring him in with a chip on his shoulder and a manger that can work with him he could be back to his best.

Has the talent just seems to have lost the confidence and consistency lately.
