Really enjoyed it. Woody done a good job and the story was quite tense and emotional in parts. The true stars though are the motion capture actors playing the apes. Amazing performances by them all

Thought it was pretty good. Tbh i WW was the last movie i saw in cinema and this was far far better. Dragged a bit at times but the LOTR cameo was brilliant.

A good 7 and the first movie i watched in 3D where i didn't mind the 3D. I loved how they followed in the opening scene rather than having it jump out at you.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it but not as good as the other 2.

I wasn't too crazy about Stephen zahn's comic relief character. It was a bit distracting. He wasn't really needed bar showing a different way apes can evolve.

Woody harrelson and Serkis were amazing as ever.

Far inferior to the first two films. was expecting a full on war but what we got was a confused film that started as a war movie, then was an epic quest film, then a prison break movie. very disjointed. the colonel was an awfully cliched character, cartoon like even. and the avalanche at the end was just really stupid. and as said above the comic relief ape had no place in this movie. caeser was badass as always though and will go down as one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

    .
saw the film dont' know what you talking about?
I was wondering for the first half of the film why the humans were still attacking them until they brought up the disease, and why still attack apes, there obviously weren't carriers.

I wasn't clear on how primitive the humans would be after the desease, the girl smart enough just mute?

I thought it was the worst of them so far. I felt the first 30 mins were very promising -exhilarating battle scenes etc. But then it went downhill and was over long.

ah it was a reference to bad ape, his mannerisms reminded me of smeagle so much, especially when they were talking in front of the fire about the "zoo". I was just to lazy to use the spoiler tage and didn't want to give it away.

On the disease i would imagine it was because it had just taken hold. It would progress to humans bding primitive, the same way only caeser could talk at first and then more apes could talk. Or the red ape, cant remember his name, learned to talk at the end.

so how long did the girl have it (did she just get it cos she had blood coming from her nose where did she get it from? ) and how long did coronel kurtz's son have it?
because he said his looked at him with primitive eyes/understanding

How long did the apes have the virus? I mean whats the time span of movie 2 and 3? 5-10 years? It took that long for the maurice to speak. Its conceivable that the diseases affects on humans took as long to mutate with the loss of speach being an early development not a final one.

Thought it was the worst of the 3, I enjoyed it but the story was terrible , I cant believe how poor the story line was ,it was way to disjointed ,
I really enjoyed the start, it felt throw together ,I'm really disappointed as if sometime was taken it could have been amazing,

I thought it was quite good, as good as no. 2, the 1st is still by far the best imo.

War For The Planet of the Apes - 8/10

This completes a solid trilogy. Possibly the best of the lot. Not quite the war film the title suggests but there are big battles/action set pieces.

It's more of an 'epic journey' movie and much of the film is Caesar and his gang traveling from point A to point B. It does drag a little bit at times but it slowly gathers momentum and has a great finale. 'Bad Ape' providing the levity is a great touch and a really likeable character. Woody Harrelson felt a little underwritten but its not a major problem. This movie quite rightly focuses on the apes, much more so than the previous two films.

The CGI/motion capture is jaw-dropping. It is absolutely spot on. I can scarcely believe that they didn't use real monkeys/jungles. Just breath taking. It's not often you watch a film these days and ask yourself how the hell they made it. Serkis and co deserve awards recognition for this. An Oscar nomination would be thoroughly deserved.
It's a shame that there are a number of plot holes and contrivances but the SFX over-shadow all of that imo.

I could actually regognise Andy Serkis in Caesers face - amazing.
Again like people said, very strong opening and ending, some scenes in the middle dragged and could have been cut.

    7/10

Absolutely the best of he series. 10/10 . The score was excellent and the movie really had a spaghetti western feel to it.

Loved it. Best movie I've seen this year.

Excellent movie... I had declared it a homage to apocalypse now long before they literally spelt it out!

So I finally got to go and see this today. Have to say I really enjoyed it. I thought it was very good the way they gave on introduction at the start even do I have seen the other two films. For anyone wanting to see this that had not it would certainly help. Its far superior to the second one which just had a lot wrong with it especially after the first film being so good. It was also a very sad film a lot of emotional parts in it. We get to see the really bad of Humans and good from the Apes. The part with the Apes rescuing the little girl was nice.
We also got to see Ceasar change a lot so it was really sad at the end when he dies.
I thought the other Ape they found from the zoo was very funny. Nice that there was a little bit of humour in the film because overall it was a very dark film. I think its great that it did not go all mad on action and had plenty of tense points as well as a very good build up and story to it. My favorite film of the 3 do is still the first. I missed what happened to the little girl at the end do. Anyone know what happened to her?

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    SPOILER TAGS FFS!!

Had my suspicions but you just confirmed them.

Saw it last night. It was one of the few times that I forgot that what I was watching wasn't real - I was fully able to buy into the fact that I was watching apes. The technical mastery behind it is simply incredible.

I enjoyed it. My biggest gripe was towards the end where
the army from the North was basically wiped out by an avalanche
. It just felt like it was a bit rushed and silly.

I loved Steve Zahn's Bad Ape. He really isn't in enough movies - dude is a fantastic actor.

Sorry about that. Did not mean to ruin it for anyone or spoil it. Best not to read these threads until you have seen the film. That's what I do if its a film that interests me.

everyones pretty much covered what i wanted to say already.

its a brillant film and a great end to the trilogy of prequels. its amazing what theyve done considering theyve got to be the least anticipated flilms back in the day. i dont think anyone was expecting what we got.

i certainly remember being blown a way at Rise.

TBH i hope the lads behind this get the Transformers franchise. THIS is how you do original films, with heart, without pissing all over your original legacy. ceasar in this is more what Optimus prime should be than micheal bays ever managed to produce.

as others have said you have to keep reminding yourself theyre NOT fecking there ! yet the level of emotion they can impart with body language alone is staggering.

    8.5/10 from me.

great to have an action flim that actually makes me bloody FEEL something.

I think the first film is the best of the trilogy, still I enjoyed this and there were some nice funny bits to it despite it generally being a fairly depressing film.
one gripe I had (and this could just be me) is
I'm not sure they made it obvious enough when Caesars wife and son were killed that they actually were his wife and son, there was a bit too much of carnage around it that you weren't sure for a while what had actually happened. It should have been a really really heart wrenching moment and it just lacked the single emotional punch that I thought it should have although maybe that was just me

What this series proves is that the sight of an ape riding a horse is one of the best things in cinema.

Really entertaining film but I felt it was far less intelligent than it's predecessors, the whole plot was totally and utterly daft with regards the
'Army of the North' marching south to face a rogue Colonel and literally risk everything over a disagreement on how to deal with the greatest threat to humanity since the Simian Flu!

I'd give it a 8/10 for entertainment, hugely watchable with a number of great scenes as well as performances.... I just wish the plot had a lot more depth and weight to it ala Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

It's a very solid trilogy of films but this would be my least favourite - though still a good watch.

I was a little dissapointed in this compared to 1 and 2 but then shortly after dragged myself aside and reminded myself how much shyte I've seen in cinema that were high budget films .

This was still a dam good film in my opinion .

Apes talking is utterly daft to some I suppose.

Your spoiler is also the plot to apocalypse now.... Which is interesting coz apes is almost a complete homage to apocalypse now. The choppers, the scene where woody basically turns into Marlon Brando... Oh and "apocalypse now" actually written in the tunnel :)

thought it was great but the previous 2 set such a high precedent i just dont think it lived up to their standards, enjoyable movie all the same.

I wonder will we see a 4th installment?

Something I found funny is that there was such a huge buildup to it happening, with the reveal of the fact that they were actually attacking the Colonel. And then they get there - and they don't even really end the fight. It was Caesar. And then they get all wiped out by an avalanche.

    It felt a bit limp.

Next one is probably a remake... Remember we have some astronauts lost in space from the first one

I thought it was the weakest of the three films. Woody Harrelson phoning in his now quite typical psycho performance. It didn't have the emotional impact even with the spoilery bits. No female characters of relevance at all - seriously - can we not even achieve this in a film about talking apes? The mute child barely counts.
Terribly convenient avalanche at the end, which somehow doesn't knock over the specific trees the apes are on.

I actually considered leaving half way through. I read this morning that a fourth one is planned: feels quite unnecessary, given the ending.
