Also, she may not have been able to find two matching 25kg plates :eek::eek:

I have to do this all the time - it's the mystery of "where the heck do the plates go when I'm not looking?"; aka "people can't be bothered putting them back". It's not ideal as it's slightly unbalanced, but beats roaming the gym to find a missing plate :p

What is it with people not showering before they use the gym in the morning ?

I regularly get a wiff of BO , last night's dinner and fag smoke in Flyefit George's St. It's enough to turn your stomach :(

I bought 1m x 15mm Velcro strip. Roll belt up and wrap with the Velcro. Easily fits in the small bag I have

I use my black mini-band to keep my belt rolled up.

That's the problem. I honestly left them due to the inane prevalence of weird people you find in any of these gyms at any time and the fact they don't seem to be too bothered with ever cleaning the changing rooms.

Plus the one time I tried to go to the Macken St. one, there was a QUEUE to get in at the turnstyles, I kid you not.

I shower after the gym. Doing it in reverse is just weird imo.

That's probably because the card readers are terrible more than anything else

The only response I thought worthy to make to this 'complaint' is: Less sniffing, more lifting

Showering before going to the gym? It's not a day spa ffs.

And bringing multiple poncy purses and overnight bags into the changing rooms..spending ages undressing and folding everything then the same operation in reverse to get into gym gear.

The same blokes also spend hours anointing themselves with various poncy lotions afterwards and blowdrying thier bollocks while adjusting thier hair.

I don't like to complain about other people in the gym, because I'm bound to have done a lot of silly things in my time. Everyone has off days.

But anyway, I finished my workout and went to get a drop of water from the water fountain this morning, only to see that there was a girl on a mat either stretching or doing yoga directly beside the fountain. This wouldn't generally bother me, except there was plenty of room for her to put he mat, and the area in front of the water fountain is usually kept empty.

Felt like people would see me lumbering up to the water fountain thinking I'm only gone up there to perv at yer wan working out!

I presume most people have a shower before going to work in the morning after lying in their own farts and sweat all night, why should people suffer in a gym because some minger can't be bothered to wash themselves "oh I don't smell of BO"

If someone smells rancid first thing in the morning, it's not just because they haven't had a shower first thing.

I feel like as a female gym newbie I cant help but think its a bit sexist when I am constantly approached by guys looking to jump in on sets when its not even busy.

NO go away and let me finish I only just got on and I'm only doing 2/3 sets!

I can stand even a whiff of macho behavior...

Its the one unique environment where the majority of men feel empowered and amazing and a lot of women feel self conscious and vulnerable.

So am I crazy to think this way?

If my program says I'm doing whatever that involves the piece of kit you're using, I may ask to work in, depending on time constraints.

I'm not going to do anything else just because you're using the equipment I want to use at the same time.

It's not about you, it's about the program.

    Pretty much this.

BO is the smell of stale sweat. Chances are they are reusing the same clothes from their last training session(s), hence the stink.

People who take plates from your rack instead of their rack (the same plates were on both) he was just standing closer to mine) so you have to walk around their area to get to their rack to get the plates and then carry them all the way back

Would they be more likely to ask a girl to work in on say for example... the squat rack because:

    a) they think she would be finished sooner than the lads.
    b) she is using lighter weights so easier to remove the plates rather than asking the big muscular dude over in the corner with 3 plates instead of the 1 or 2 on the bar.

I've never actually had anyone ask to work in with me before.

    C) they wanted to do squats too

Of course they do but I think they are more likely to choose the person using the least weight.

There aren't always multiple options. I wanted to do lat pulldowns today. If the machine I usually use was busy, I would ask to work in even if the other lat pulldown machine was free because I haven't used that and it would change how I assess what I'm doing. I could probably use it but I don't want to and it has nothing to do with who is using the machine at the time.

I don't treat the person using it any differently and similarly if someone asks to work in on something I'm using

I'd be more likely to try set in with someone using similar weights to me.
