Anyone noticed any bluetooth issues? Noticing slight pauses every now and then when playing music.

There should be an option in the buttons menu to enable menu if you long press or double tap the recent apps button

Yes I know I can set long press, but I want to set it as single press replacing recents. Think I'll need to use a different launcher

I can't think of a (more recent) phone that still has the menu button.

Google did away with this a long time ago.

Anyone else cases peeling have a sandstone case just over a week and coating is peeling and bubbling away already. Not impressed with durability.

That's not good I'd be straight on to oneplus if that was the case (pardon the pun) with me.

How good is One Plus support when it come to warranty ? Are they easy to deal with ? Typically how long would you be waiting for a repair ?

Also wondering is there any common fit and finish or build quality issues people are seeing. So far the only thing I have come accross is 2 users with loose buttons. Lol.

I got a one plus 5 on day 1 release. First charge and the dash charger broke. Stopped charging. The USB cable still worked when plugged into a laptop to charge it but no dash charge.

I emailed them and customer care rep went into chat with me and I explained the problem. They referred me to another agent and I had to send a picture of the charger. They took their time, told me the replacement would be 2-4 weeks and I was only allowed two replacements of accessories in warranty.

I kicked up about the outrageous amount of time for a replacement considering I ordered it on a Thursday or whatever the launch day was and had it on the Monday after. They ignored my issue and just kept repeating themselves about 2-4 weeks. I tried escalating it beyond that rep but they just kept ignoring my emails and questions and would reply saying we understand you are annoyed and it'll be 2-4 weeks.

I logged another issue with customer care but they never emailed me back. My charger arrived this morning. So it was actually only a week which is reasonable to get a replacement but it was the poor customer care. Even the replies were at times badly written, I'm no English professor and I'm sure I'll leave a wake of errors myself but this bordered on pigeon English. Bad taste in my mouth after dealing with them.

As for the phone. Overall I like it. There is some more finish work they could have done. The screenshot system for example is poor. You can't take a screen record either. You have to download an app to do it. As for the screenshot, it's an awkward power button + down volume. Perhaps with a rejigging of controls it'd be easier. The camera is okay, dual cameras and fuzzy background portrait mode was kinda a gimmick but as I said it's alright.

Running multiple apps and switching between is seamless so far and no performance issues. I can't really comment on the battery charge and life as charging with usb cable is extremely slow but enough to get me through the day.

Button pressing in the pocket is happening more often than my last phone. I didn't like the vibration and button click sounds for everything and having to go into multiple settings to get rid of them. I thought a more central control for that would have been standard.

All in all it seems like a decent phone for the price of it combined with the specs. The s8 is slightly higher spec and a more polished product with a better screen. Pros and cons for all phones on market though. I am dreading the thought of having a problem with the device and having to use the customer care again but fingers crossed!

Power button + volume down is the default screenshot shortcut in Android

Also turn on pocket mode in advanced menu in system settings. This disables the screen and fingerprint scanner when the light sensor is dark stopping your phone unlocking in your pocket

To be honest if you came across in chat to One Plus as you have in the early part of this post you seem a bit rude. You completely over reacted.

I've changed it to three fingered swipe down, it works really well.

Yes my friend who is returning his 5 as he notices the 'jelly' effect when scrolling, commented that the coating is wearing very quickly. Saw it today and it is indeed peeling. So he is sending it back as well. Personally I think the official snap on cases are a little bit flimsy for what they are charging, especially the wood ones. I'd either go for their silicone case or bumper case (though strictly not a bumper as it has a back to it) or probably an orzly which is a lot cheaper

Not a great experience so for you . Then again, english would not be the reps first language so I wouldn't expect them to be perfect or judge them on their english ability. I guess the turnaround time on the charger was just the maximum delivery time they quote and the time you did in fact get it in was pretty good. I probably would not have escalated, especially as they were satisfied with a pic and did not ask you to post it in first so they could analyse it.

To be fair you have no idea how the interaction actually went down. My chat with care representative and then the email exchange and if I my post came off like that it was down to pure frustration and disappointment.

In hindsight they replaced the accessory in a fairly straightforward manner and turn around was decent. If th customer rep had handled it better it wouldn't have escalated to what I thought was going to be a major issue. Also seems the feeling on the web is that they have a poor customer care department and you should either get used to it or not own the phone which seemed silly to me.

The cable of my one plus 2 broke after 18 months. I sent them an email, they asked for a picture, replacement was approved. I was told it would be three weeks. I had the cable the following week, so from my experience they have a very good customer service team (most people won't post on a forum/website to say they've had a positive experience, where as 80%+ will post on social media if they have a problem)

As someone posted above the care team are probably being told to give a maximum delivery date so as to build a bit of a buffer into lead time, very rarely will it take a fraction of this time with One Plus (bar initial launch with OPO, OP2 and early days of OP3 handsets).

I'd have no problem with anyone escalating an issue if there actually is an issue but because you weren't happy with the delivery date you went to 100 straight off the bat. If you had of waited a few days before follow ups you still would have had a replacement and saved yourself the extra time and hassle of contacting them again.

So I'm on the verge of ordering either a One Plus 5 or HTC U11. Pretty neck in neck so far. Has anyone had any annoying build quality issues that caused them to send the 5 back ? I'm not seeing many negative reports on XDA, one guy with a loose button and someone had one where the rear camera had the paint chipped around it. Also the OnePlus website says the 8GB model ships within 8 days. Anyone have an idea whether it takes the full 8 days or do they ship alot sooner. I also assume priority shipping is the way to go. Asking cause on hols soon and would like to get it before I go. Thanks.

That is all fair enough in hindsight. The issue I'm talking about is how they handled it. They could have just said that 4 weeks is the maximum time and that they would do their best to get me a replacement and keep me updated when the replacement is approved and tracked etc. I didn't escalate the matter until my 5th email or so. I don't think that's outrageous. I did in fact wait for answer's to my questions but they didn't answer them and kept saying it'll be 4 weeks thanks for your understanding. I emailed back saying I appreciate the sympathy and that they are trying to help but how could it take up to 4 weeks and again queried the warranty only giving you two replacement power supplies during your warranty period. They kept ignoring the questions over and over. I had to re-read my emails to be sure I'd asked and I had on each occasion.

Also if you read my posts I do acknowledge that in the end the replacement time was actually decent and overall I am happy with the phone and outcome. They are still yet to get back to me in relation to my other issue if even to just acknowledge my message.

Sorry meant to reply. The camera is middle to low in the road I'd suggest but for daily snapping it's fine. Pictures in poorly lit areas and the quality takes a sharp nose dive. That's probably true for a lot of phones. The button layout is good so far. No bulging buttons but as I said had it switch off in my pocket once so far and that never happened before.

Screen wise I think it's very good. Haven't noticed any pixel or jelly problems being described. Speaker is good and loud. Good range.

In another post you mentioned somebody complained about a chip in the camera. It's possible they were mistaken. There is a dot half way on the camera rectangle which at first glance I thought was a chip but I googled it and it's part of the design! Separates the camera's.

Only other thing I can think of is when I got the phone they never included a little metal bar to open the sim compartment. I had to use one that the wife had gotten with her i7.

They could have been sitting behind their PC thinking how does this guy not get it? He's asked the same question a few times and given him the same answer every time.

Edit: just saw your reply to the other poster about the SIM eject tool missing. Mine was in a box under the phone where all the documents were.

Thanks mate. Sounds like an all round great phone with the only minus being poor low light performance. Most of my shots are during normal light and I think the lack of OIS won't matter so much to me as I rarely take videos. Just trying to decide whether the U11 is worth the extra for the better camera and waterproofing.

Also wondering how soon the 5 will ship. Site says within 8 days. Hopefully I won't get one of the returns. Seems at least half the people on the XDA poll are returning !!

It very well could have been a language barrier but hey #Neversettle as they say. They should have native English speakers or at least fluent and fully literate. It's not that much of an ask.

They could have asked for clarification or at least acknowledged the questions. It reminded me of a conversation with somebody who has little grasp of the language but they are still smiling and nodding at you.

Anyway it's a lot of they may have thought this and may have thought that. I don't presume to make excuses for them, as they are a business and a big one given the income these phones are generating but I'll chalk it down to a bad experience, phone wise I'm still happy enough overall considering.

Yeah I turned the box upside down and inside out. I was baffled at them leaving an elementary thing like that out but it appears I got an unlucky box ;).
