Let the National Chairman of the day and the executive do it. Im not being smart but many other organisations do it that way.
Why do we need a full time person. If you need lobbying hire a lobbiest?

The association needs a level of staffing that can deal with members queries, keep up to date with legislation and best practise , communicate with the members and support the executive. It would in my view be a huge step back wards and discourage people to run for the executive if they were taking on a second job for which they are not and cannot be paid a salary

There is nothing you have said there that still warrants a full time Employee. The more important job is the Fund Administrator.

Remind me what does the Executive do in the NARGC..? They get expenses too.

Many people volunteer for the love of it and most local clubs and Regions are all doing good work for the love of it and from this side there are more ordinary shooting men that know more about what's going in the ahooting world than a " so called National Director".... take the 95k + expenses + whatever and use it to develop the Volunteers.

    95k:eek:

I'll do it for half that :P

Just an estimate Company Director salary of a SME with a similar turnover.

I agree a 100k salary isn't required. Being an enthusiastic ordinary member is not the same as being experienced enough to go and negotiate with the depth of justice, or advise members of queries etc.

Anyone hear the final cost of the 5 counties case..I heard legal fees that the nargc has to pay are settled around 90k. .seems there is another case listed for some day next week too

Jaysus..that is some reduction in fees if so.

An expensive day out for sure but at least the five counties took full advantage and made a great case for themselves on the day of the EGM-NOT!

They made a right tit of themselves and since then no one could explain why they couldn't wait like the other 23 counties.

They made tools of themselves right enough.

I heard that they were offered an egm on day one of trial!
Maybe they were not let take up that offer...wink wink nudge nudge...🀔

I heard that too,..but I also heard the rest of the offer to the people was pay all the costs ..

Even I know the answer to this one.

Through a previous court action the Association won the right to have an independent investigation into the conduct of one of its employees .

The Legal Advice given to the Association was that an EGM would endanger that process and potentially cost us €00000.
As you know the Executive are bound to follow the legal advice..

    Hence the case...

Out of the case the judge said the Association had a right to discuss its affairs without fear..

Happy feckin days as there are some with loads to tell about how things WERE done..

Some are still pining after the old days.. gravy..trains...and so on..

It was NARGC vs itself.. NARGC was always picking up costs..

Only stipulation on egm was not to discuss the ongoing investigation..everything else was up for grabs..

Didn't hear lad..but sounds a bit cheap for a high court case even of settled.

Sad to think that this was a case of the NARGC injuncting themselves to stop a meeting by the dissident 5 counties who actually then made a d**** of themselves and he world and there Mother knows theywe're hammered on the vote of no confidence in the Chairman. It will probably make for an interesting Ardeer.

If I remember right and im not going to scroll all the way through the posts.

To stop stuff being said...that would damage the Association they needed a ruling on whether certain things could be discussed...

Are you sure that all came out of the one case?

Of all the things I hear the internal investigation is never mentioned. .did it ever happen?

That gravy train badly needed to be derailed..

Went up to the shoot for both days. Have to say it was great 2 days out. Was great to stand back and watch the competitors doing some serious shooting. The pool stand was good craic. Although it really wasn't an easy shoot by any means. Have to say it was great to see all the officers of the association on the go all over the place over the 2 days and every 1 of them would stop to chat wit people. It's great to see them getting so involved.

Enjoyed the course, and the pool shoot was great crack.

    Well done to all.

I thought the shoot was excellent this year. I see the results are up on the website too. Nice one.

I watched a fair bit of shooting and lobbed a fair few quid over the counter at the pool shoot. I gave it a fair shot but no luck.

Good crowds and the grub was alright.

    Well done to all involved..

    Well done to Cavan RGC
Its a mistake we dont put articles into newspapers or radio stations at this time of year. The press rooms are starving for news with this being the start of the silly season.
Its not a mistake our enemies make, expect to see lots of stories from the bunny huggers.
Last week it was a piece about a white tailed eagle in Tyrone with the added bit about raptor killing. (you only have to plant a seed)
I expect the eagle may have been there for sometime he needed the right time to tell "his" story I imagine.

    Hi ,

Just heard of the sad passing of John Diver, Donegal RGC and one of the Trustees of the NARGC.

John was a staunch shooting man and heavily involved in the Clay Pigeon Committee at National Level. He will be sadly missed. Condolences to his family, RIP John.
