Official announcement video on twitter has Webb.

Going with the same 23 is completely understandable. Would've swapped McGrath in for Vunipola, but no changes other than that.

I also hope Gatland uses the bench sooner. Stander could make a huge impact coming on with 20 to go. Although if the starting backrow plays as well as they did last week who do you sub him on for?

Where is this Gareth Davies thing coming from?

    It's Webb

According to BBC, it's the first time since 1993 that the Lions have named an unchanged XV.

Happy enough with that on the basis of not changing a winning team and Vunipola won't be as bad again.

Glad to see Vunipola was retained. He's a penalty machine and weakens the Lions' scrum, which is average at best. He is good with the ball in hand but needs to cut out the head shots and the testicle grabbing.

It's a kiwi joke about how he's a skinny white boy who looks like he should be nowhere near a professional rugby team.

Mako is a very lucky boy. It's the only change I was hoping for.

Vunipola is a loose cannon and might be the Loins undoing.

Vunipola is the only issue I really have.

As posted previously, Vunipola hadn't given away a single penalty on the tour before last week which is seriously impressive for a prop.

He's nowhere near a loose cannon or a penalty machine. Fortunate to keep his place, perhaps. But he does not have a discipline problem at all.

I do rate Barrett Jnr, but first test start...no prizes for guessing in which direction Conor Murray's first box kick will head.

    Up, I would hope.

    Is Ioane injured or dropped?

Fully agree. Recency effect is always huge though in such analysis. As good as your last game and all that

    9. Aaron Smith (61)
    10. Beauden Barrett (52)
    11. Julian Savea (53)
    12. Ngani Laumape (1)
    13. Anton Lienert-Brown (12)
    14. Israel Dagg (64)
    15. Jordie Barrett (1)

Brave selection, fair play to Hansen, no fannying about there. If you're good enough you're old enough and stuff this notion you need to play a load of games against dross before getting a real go.

    Agree. No discipline problem.

Last week he had a brain problem. He didn't use it.

The Lions simply can't afford another headless chicken performance from him.

Garry Ringrose got his second cap against NZ and his first start the following week against Australia. So the very thing you're congratulating Hansen on Joe did several months ago.....

You could add Carberry in to first or maybe it was second game as well although I dont personally think its as big a game as the winning test of a Lions tour. Would Ringrose have got that start against England in a title decider probably not

    Carbery too.

And Furlong. Got his first cap at 22. Played for Ireland 8 times that season, 7 times against tier 1 opposition. After the first 5 caps he displaced Ross as our number 1 TH. At 23. #conservative

VDF got his first cap and start against England in the 6Ns at 22.

Probably the only game that is as big as a Lions series decider, is a World Cup final.

If Ireland had a similar injury/suspension issue in the midfield to what the ABs have right now, yeah I think Ringrose would have chucked to start a 6N title decider against England. I don't see any reason to think otherwise.

I agree with the importance of the game
And you could be right, although I fancy he would more likely have gone with one of the northern boys
Just a point on Furlong unrelated to your post, but getting ahead of Ross for me isnt a big deal, hes been on his last legs for a while and should have been put out to pasture sooner

As did Stuart McCloskey. Even if you're not good enough you're old enough.
