Noone said its the exclusive domain of the All Blacks. It's just a domain they stray into more than any other side I see us face. Kepu should have gone, you're right. I didn't see the Farrell hit on Crotty but you could well be right. However its not remotely the same thing as the way Murray was targeted by illegal challenges repeatedly.

I'd be fairly sure it won't happen this weekend at least, given the change in ref and given the Lions highlighting the foul play publically.

While the ref watches Murray, the All Blacks will be targeting someone else with illegal challenges repeatedly. They're not stupid.

The all blacks aren't really well liked anywhere, so fair enough.

Thanks for your contribution. Trust life is going well for you. Do pop by for more insightful analysis.

No, they are not everyone's cup of tea, a consistently successful team never really is outside of its own fan base. Tall poppy is the term you were looking for.

It always amazes me that posters who never ever post in a forum, spend time scanning the threads, and then add their mindless vacuities.

    Flatty for Gatty, huh?

    Meow
    😂

I'll perhaps add to this. The all blacks are a nasty cynical bunch, who are the greatest bunch of whinging sore losers in just about any sport. Still whining about an odd decision going against them, despite the fact that they were handed their home WC final by one of the most appallingly one sided refereeing displays of all time.
I'm doing fine thanks btw. Making out like a bandit. :-).

Its not Peyper this time around, we'll see

Jesus. Anyone who has played rugby at any sort of level should know that everyone makes mistakes in the heat of battle. Difference in the top games we have slow mo. To make everything look worse which can be replayed over and over. It's not soccer.stop blaming refs. Had the lions no illegal tackles they got away with.

Lots of stuff goes unpunished. Lots of play by the ABs in particular goes famously unpunished and they happily take advantage of this moreso than any other team I see us come up against. I don't think there's anything conspirational going on, but it'll continue to be pointed out until they start being officiated correctly.

I'm not even slightly concerned about the usual McCawesque stuff, although I'd like to see that refereed evenly at least, but the dangerous stuff is massively frustrating.

Glad you mentioned McCaw. The most targeted player in history when it came to cheap shots. I don't remember you commenting on Trimble's two shoulder charges on AB players in Chicago. Tackles where he didn't wrap his arms. One was on Squires, can't remember who the other one was on but he got away with it. They were above the knees :D

What I'm saying is this sort of stuff happens every game to all teams and by all teams. Sometimes the officials miss stuff and sometimes what we think is illegal, isn't.

I know last Saturday must have been difficult for you IBF. Watching a bunch of powder puffs from the bottom hemisphere physical dominate and beat up the creme de la creme of the NH. Especially when the majority of the tight five was from your beloved Wolfpack. Just because the big meanies from the ABs were rough it doesn't mean they were dirty or that everything they did was illegal ;)

You would imagine that the AB's being the most successful team in world rugby would make you a better winner, sadly not.

    Incredibly sad and childish post

Wow, it hasn't taken long at all for things to get bitter here. Maybe I'm just not invested enough in this (I definitely am not) but a team targeting an opposition half back doesn't really come as a shock to me. Peyper missing foul play also doesn't come as a shock to me. Other than the Kaino incident I don't think NZ did anything particularly unusual or galling to Murray.

Bringing up historical incidents will just lead us down a poxy rabbit hole. Nobody is going to change their minds on this so there's little point in arguing the point over and over.....

TL;DR Alright, alright. Calm down, calm down.

Soooo.....moving on from the dumpster fire that is this thread of late....

Looks almost certain that Lawes is the man to join the 23 and, going by the media reports, the only actual new addition to the match day squad with any other changes coming from within the existing 23.

After yesterday, I would be very tempted to look at naming both Lawes and Henderson in the 23. And if Gatland wants to retain one of AWJ or Kruis, I'd still strongly consider bringing them both in and giving Henderson the 20 jersey on the bench. When a player's confidence and impact is as high as Henderson's clearly was yesterday, it shouldn't be overlooked.

Let Warburton absolutely empty the tank for 55/60 minutes and then bring Henderson on at blindside along with Lawes at lock to invigorate the pack and front five. It would be harsh on POM but I'd be hard pushed to think of a better display in a build up game than that of Henderson yesterday.

Best showed what he can do yesterday in terms of smarts and being a complete pain around the field. He made a case for offering something different but I reckon that's falling on deaf ears.

The back three situation is going to be interesting. I can see North getting the nod despite the lack of promotion from the media. He made strong ground in contact and seemed to find confidence in being able to get his hands on the ball repeatedly. He offers something very different from the other wingers and, if George North is finding any sort of confidence or form, I don't think he should be ignored given the lack of quality in the back three on tour thus far.

'Full wind up' :D I was expecting a bit more from your description. It was foul play but it wasn't that bad.

People are going full on CSI on any incident against the Lions.

Absolutely nothing in it. Muck around the wrong side of a maul and get a big of a slap (which is what it was). Might have been a penalty if the referee wanted to be soft.

Thanks IBF. That's very nice of you to say.

In that spirit, I'll concede that the Bucs aren't the worst team in the NFL. I simply can't go as far as saying something nice about Saracens.

And I appreciate you not calling me an Aussie. Unlike that Awec fecker

After yesterday's game I can see it going one of 2 ways for Saturday.

For me I could go either way. I think lawes HAS to start on Saturday, and so does warburton and so does itoje, which now leaves it as either

    Lawes , itoje , Pom , warburton

    Or

Lawes , kruis, itoje , warburton.

Probably harsh on sob but pom and kruis can't be dropped we need one of them there for the lineout.

I'd be more inclined to go with option a

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I cannot see it going either of those ways, to be honest. I'd be shocked if the second one is even being discussed at the selection meeting. Itoje doesn't have a minute of game time at blindside on this tour. There isn't a hope that he's starting at flanker.

All reports indicate that it's going to be a back row of Warburton, SOB and Faletau and that the breakdown is the area where the Lions have struggled the most and also the area that NZ base a huge amount of their game plan off.

  • Posts: 13,104 ✭✭✭✭ Maisie Wailing Beagle

We knew in the week leading up to the first test that POM would start as captain with Warburton out. This time we seem to know the opposite, POM out with Warburton starting. I'd be fairly sure SOB will still start.

Second row is interesting, I think he'll stick with Kruis and start Lawes along with him. No Launchbury remains madness.

That's just blatant sexual harassment. Kaino is clearly grabbing Murray's butt. I assume Murray as lodged some sort of work place complaint with World Rugby.

I like to call it 'sexy harrassment' :D

New Zealand isn't even on a lot of world maps, it's quite surprising to me that they're allowed to award caps for games against them
