Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Late change as Halfpenny replaces Payne at 23.

That's Payne's tour is done I think...he did look hurt last week...I expect a few to out their hands up for selection at the weekend, Best and to a lesser degree Stander amongst the Irish....Lawes has to be a shoe in if he plays well...Joseph is an outside bet... other than that...can't see anyone else getting in ?

I'm really looking forward to seeing Aso play today.... think the guys a star in the making and would love it if he has an Irish Nanna :D

I'd say the only way Joseph comes into contention whatsoever is if Davies is injured. I reckon the fact that he was the odd man out from last week's midweek game means that he's completely out of the running.

According to Murray Kinsella he's missing this due to a headache...

Jared Payne must be related to my wife.

Payne is in danger of taking the Jonny Sexton/Eric Miller Tampax mantle. 1 week in, 3 weeks out. He has averaged 9 starts for Ulster in the last 3 seasons.

Feel sorry for him. He's a critical part of the Irish set up but he has had a pretty harsh time of it with injury over the past 2 years. If he doesn't get a prolonged injury-free run of it, his test career won't recover given he's 32 in the autumn.

Lions destroyed at that scrum. Poite gives a very delayed penalty.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,091 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

How is that a high tackle?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Henderson with a beast of a carry on his own 22, showing how it's done.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 553 ✭✭✭Elvisjuice

poite should put on a red jersey

Hurricanes are not going to be happy with Poite.

no offside high tackle and scrum was fine

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Poor carrying from Stander and Henderson blow a very good opportunity for points. Both too upright and driven back/held up.

Laidlaw to back up Webb on the weekend :pac:

    Jaysus is Laidlaw slow.

    Oh nice try

Feckin intercept - just hate them as it always reminds me of BOD against Munster. :D

Great from Seymour to get on the end of that pass after making the first tackle. Class craic.

Dan Cole did absolutely zero to help Henderson get to ground.

Good intercept from Laidlaw, try Seymour.

Henshaw off with injury for Halfpenny. Looks like his tour is over.

That's a pity. The tour never got going for him at all.

Uh oh, hope that's not serious.

    Dan Biggars kicking...asking for trouble.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Excellent steal from Best on the deck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

    Good kick by biggar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

Hope Henshaw's shoulder isn't too serious

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Biggar kicking well. Not actually much between these sides aside from discipline. The Hurricanes are miles offside in defence and haven't copped on at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Biggar is average as hell in most aspects as a #10, but he's an outstanding goal kicker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

The issue of Halfpenny on the bench is exposed. A centre goes off and we're screwed with his lack of versatility on the bench.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 6,524 Mod ✭✭✭✭dregin

Lawes reading their lineout very well so far. The test side really missed Best's ruck work.

Murray Kinsella makes a good point re North. He must be seriously pissed off that in his last chance to stake a claim for a place in the test 23 h has been forced to move to 12 to cover injury.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,363 ✭✭✭✭Del.Monte

    Great try - game on!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Kiwi's even their club sides and second tier players are levels above the Lions in offloading. Not just skill level but knowing when to offload and when to leave it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

Did Poite not realize he blocked the lions defence there?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 6,524 Mod ✭✭✭✭dregin

WTF! Poite got in Laidlaw's way!

If he is, then he has totally missed the lions ethos
I don't think he is pissed off, he's just getting on with his job

Can we get Poite for the test on Saturday too?

Poite with some fantastic offensive line play!

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Laidlaw gets hurried and rushes his box kick. Results in his best box kick of the tour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

    Sharp bit of play

Would like to see a reverse angle on that, to see if he actually touched it down or not.

    [edit] there we go...

    Beautiful hands from Henderson.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Oooft Henderson with his bizzzay hands!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,814 ✭✭✭irishman86

Biggar kick, HP contested and North scores all Gats needs to start all three

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Great kick from Biggar, good chase from Halfpenny, lovely hands from Henderson and good support from North.

All of them improving their case for inclusion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

North is certainly more involved today than he had been previously, even before the try.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,814 ✭✭✭irishman86

    Surely taken out

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Biggar keeps kicking long straight down the centre of this pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

    Good defence

  • Administrators Posts: 54,091 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Poite is not at his best today IMO.
