Er, with respect, but receiving brain trauma doesn't make a sport tough. Boxing is no different than pro wrestling or NFL if you want to make brain trauma the barometer for toughness.

I specified the relentless grind and the weight cutting on top of the sport itself. Ever wrestled? It's absolutely miserable. I've trained in boxing, muay thai, jiu jitsu and wrestling and wrestling was way and beyond the most miserable and mentally fatiguing.

There are a lot more factors other than fatigue to consider

Wrestling is a very tough sport.

BTW, folks, the real fight on August 26 isn't Mayweather-McGregor, it's boxing thread vs. MMA thread....Who gets the most traffic....?

My money is on the MMA one for that man, it will be hilarious.

I already saw a post saying the winner of this should get the winner of GGG and Canelo. Magic.

I think Floyd will out-class Conor and beat him. He won't hurt him.

Floyd hasn't KO'd anybody since Hatton. That Victor Ortiz KO was complete nonsense, Conor won't be at that craic of touching gloves or dropping his hands.

    Protect yourself at all times.

There is a genuine poster over there that thinks after 8 rounds it could be 5 rounds to 3 for FM .

    Wow. 5-3 ????????? What idiots.
Sure Mcgregor would already be at the bar by that stage after knocking out Mayweather 20 minutes before that :-)

A genuine couple of questions as I don't follow UFC/MMA except for McG fights. Is striking the best part of McG's game or is he particularly good at it for an MMA fighter? Is he actually fast? I don't really have a lot to go on. Aldo? hmm..Diaz? hmm

On the physical side, striking is his best attribute.

Many fighters have said they didn't even see most of the strikes he landed, and he throws accurate straight shots, not wild hooks, and overhands that a lot of traditional grapplers use.

His best attribute by far is his mental game though. He just has a way of getting inside his opponents heads, and making them feel defeated before the bell even rings.

Even his twitter announcement shows this. Immediately insinuating that Floyd is too old by using a picture of Floyd Snr.

A quote from Alvarez after Conor knocked him out to become the 155lb champion.

'It was more speed (that got me),” Alvarez said. “I think I got dropped. The first time I was dropped, I remember being on my butt, and I was like, ‘Wow that was quick. Whatever that was, it was fast.’ I’ve been there before a lot of times in my career. I’ve been dropped. I don’t panic. I get my composure and get right back up. It was more – his speed and timing were very good.'

Compared to Floyd his boxing strike speed is a B and Floyd's an A+..

Reading over the last few pages seems a few McGregor fans are taking any critique of him a bit personal.

How would you price it with Floyd only allowed use one hand? what chances you giving Conor then?

Well if this happens I hope Mayweather wins as I can not stand that other lad. Would not be so bad if he had a decent personality outside of the ring but he does not even have that. All he sees to be able to talk about is his fighting. I don,t envy his wife poor thing having to put up and listen to him.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

His striking is stunning, lightning fast, watch his demolition of Alvarez.

I know kids who approach standup combat better than Eddie Alvarez.

Seen the sparring v Chris van Heerden. Fingers crossed people buy into the hype and back McGregor, can't see Floyd having any problems here

Conor has great striking for a mma figter . probably the best .

unfortunately due to being blinded by their obsession with him a few people can't differentiate between being a great boxer in a mma world and being an actual professional boxer .

And not only a professional boxer . being a future hall of famer

Of course Floyd lost speed, but even in his final fight 99% of boxers would kill for his speed. Floyd's speed will always be an A. The Floyd of old was up there with Jones in terms of raw speed. No way was that sustainable.

Its a joke that this fights counts towards Mayweather's professional record tbh.

McGregor will be going for a knockout and he'll be eating Mayweather's gloves all night.

I'd love for McGregor to embarrass Mayweather but its not going to happen.

    Holy bat thread.

Those who think McGregor has a prayer would believe anything trump says.

    ****show.

Mayweather put in for those 50-0 trademarks a long time ago for the record, like a year or more even ago at this point, that was the first time they surfaced, think they were looking to match him with GGG back then.

I was thinking Mayweather might carry him for a few rounds, go easy, make it look like a contest. The more I think about it though, Mayweather has demonstrated time, and time again he doesn't give a **** about anybody other then Floyd Mayweather, he is not going to take it easy. If he can get it over in 1 he will, the longer it goes on the more it will make him look bad. Obviously the criticism won't bother him when all is said and done but for his own ego sake he will want to get this over inside 4.

Let McGregor come out firing in round 1, get his timing, pick him off with some counters, more of the same in round 2 but start to come on stronger toward the end. Round 3 I think he will be going for the finish, popping shots off for fun, they don't have to be power punches, just enough to give the ref and Conors corner pause for thought. If he doesn't find a good opening in round 3 to finish the fight I think he comes out pretty aggressive in round 4, McGregor going on past form and the effort he will have put in to surviving the first 3 rounds could be almost spent at that point and it won't take much to get a stoppage.

Then both off the club to celebrate taking candy from so many babies :)

Lol, that's a bit disingenuous tbh.
To me it just looks like boxing fans are foaming at the mouth so hard that they can't see their getting trolled badly.

There's something seriously wrong if you need to resort to constant strawman to reinforce that a Mayweather beats McGregor (in a boxing match).

Goodness me. How long have you known him to come to this conclusion? Also, think I'd envy any poor women going out with Floyd a little bit more to be honest.

Ah I know that. I just think that the pisstakers are getting great mileage out if this one.

For the record, I'll be betting on Floyd if his price keeps climbing. But I'd love it if McGregor won, simply for the absolute comedy afterwards.

I have no issue with the pisstakers . just the odd person who genuinely believes this will be competitive makes my brain hurt
