From a money point of view it's a good deal for him but from a sporting point of view this is a charade.

From a money and a sporting point of view, it's a great deal for McGregor. Nobody gives him a hope. Not a sniff. If he even lasts 3 rounds, he'll get plaudits. And enough money to set him, his kids and his grandkids up for a life of luxury.

Mayweather must be the dumbest man alive for taking this on. It's a complete no win situation for him. Even if he knocks McGregor out in the second round, you'll have some people questioning if he's the greatest because he couldn't knock out a non-boxer in one round.

Mayweather will make a fortune too. This will sell really well and it's easy money for Mayweather. Gets a tonne of buys with pretty much no risk.

Mayweather is worth hundreds of millions. Another hundred makes no difference to him, realistically.

The risk to him is that he's the one putting a reputation and legacy on the line. McGregor isn't. As I said, if Mayweather doesn't take McGregor apart in the first one or two rounds, you're going to have people saying he's overrated. If he knocks McGregor out in 20 seconds the chorus line will be "Of course he did, he's fighting a guy who has never boxed. It would be humiliating if he didn't".

I would imagine that a hundred million dollars makes quite a substantial amount of difference to Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

In fact I bet its worth more to him than his legacy.

Quite possibly which means he's as dumb as I suspect. It will have no bearing on his life aside from a bigger number in the account.

100/1 for Mayweather to win it in the opening 60 seconds. Not exactly likely given his style and I'm sure he'll be very cautious about giving McGregor a chance to hit him....but still, 100/1 against a guy who isn't a boxer. Those are some generous odds.

And if he knocks him out in 20 seconds he'll be slated as a rip off merchant.

McGregor is a better boxer than a lot of people give him credit for. I can see him being beaten but it's a win, win, win for everyone involved (all aboard the money train choo choo)

Well he did spar with a South African champion not too long ago.

But then that chap wasn't exactly hugely complimentary about his chances on a podcast I listened to and I believe his camp was quite annoyed by the McGregor camp putting up a video that was heavily edited to make McGregor look like he was competitive.

Reading online and lots of boxing analysts say CMG's technical skills are very poor. Feet work isn't good and his actual boxing technique isn't great either.

As one journo put it "you can't learn a lifetimes craft in a few weeks".

The chances of this fight actually going ahead are probably close to 0

Why? With that much money involved there's no way it's not going to happen now

If Nevada have sanctioned it then I don't see why it's not going to happen. Money pushes these things through.

I wouldn't put money on this fight. Couldn't trust it.

What if Mayweather fancies stringing him along for a while?

Then I'm happy to lose 10 quid with the upside of 1k on a long shot.

Much like the Lions, I couldn't care less with the result but the spectacle should be entertaining.

It's all just a bit of fun.

It's strange to see an Australian heap praise on the All Blacks.

Rory Best gets an OBE. Officer of the British Empire I think. Was always puzzled by the term British Empire - doesn't an empire have an emperor/empress, not a king/queen?

Basically because the monarchy has been around longer than the British empire
