Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    How's the cut going?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

Morning weight has been 14 s 3lb for the last month, but this stall has been intentional as I wanted to go into maintenance mode for a bit. Gonna hop back on the cut train from Monday.

    Rollllliiinnnggggg
    Squats
    Random reps/sets
    170 x1 pb
    More randomness

The belt has made a huge difference, makes me sooooo much more aware of my body position.

Had to do a huge warm-up as I felt like sh1t, hams and back incrediblly tight from yesterdays expedition up the mountain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

    Rolling rolling rolling
    Squats
    Up to 150 beltless
    With belt
    155 x1
    160x1
    165x1 felt very good
    170x 1
    172.5x1pb
    175x1 PB

    140 x5 x5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,654 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

    Nice!

    How's the belt feeling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

I'm liking the belt, still trying to find the perfect placement for it. Keeping my head up is another thing I'm trying to enforce, I used to always look down and visually judge my dept.

    Rollllliiinnnggggg
    BB OHP
    Warm up sets
    70x9

    85x3
    90x2
    80x5
    60x 10

    Dips
    Bw x 15 x 3 sets

    Dumbbell floor press
    3sets

Nice to get by bodyweight for 2reps on OHP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

    Rollllling

    Squats
    Worked up to
    150x 3 x 5 sets
    110x10

Happy with the squats as 150 x3 was a pb, will head back to my 5x 5 next session.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

No rolling and a foooking cold shedgym

    Squats
    Worked up to
    140 x 8 PB
    150 x 4 PB
    160 x 1

Squats are very slowly moving in the right direction, I feel my hamstrings are finally on board and peace has defended on squatville.

The fact that my squats are going up during the cut while all other lifts have dropped just shows how undertrained they were

It doesn't auto-embed too well on the phone
Also, I think you re being a bit stingey with your BF estimate. Less than 14% imo, maybe under 12%

    Mobility/warmup drills

    BB OHP
First proper go at BB OHP in months so lots of warmup stuff

    Warm up sets

    Working sets
    80 x 1
    85 x 1 current bodyweight
    90 x 1
    80 x 3
    70 x 5
    60 x 10

    Superset
BB OHP 60kg x 5/ side raises/ band front raise
    3 sets

    Dips
    Bw x 22
    10kg x 10
    15kg x 10

    More shoulder mobility stuff

Was stretched for time so a bit all over the place. Have seen a definite crossover between dip strength and OHP. From this session I think a BW x 5 is Def possible for BB OHP.

Nice mini ghettoblaster on the locker!

Would agree with Mellor that 14% would seem to be high.

I'd call that a good cut so far! Jesus though...17 stone!

Ya I spent about 15 months trying to eat as much as humanly possible, the dirtiest bulk imaginable, I had pictures but deleted them all by accident :(

And that video is taken in the most ridiculously complementary lighting imaginable, energy saving light bulbs = gainzzzzzzzzzz

Yeah but lighting doesn't make those veins around your delts pop.

Next year you should do Operation Transformation for the craic. Bulk for 6 months, apply, cut, win.

Found a bulk picture saved on Google

17 stone morning weight and tensing my stomach in picture.

First time BB benching in months. Picked up some kind of injury which rules it out and have been rehabbing it for the last few months.

    DB bench
    20 x 20
    25 x 15
    30 x 10
    35 x 10 x 3

    BB bench
    40 x 20
    50 x 15
    60x 10
    70 x 5
    80 x 5
    90 x 6 x 3 sets
    100 x 3 x 3 sets
    80 x 5 x 2
    60 x 10

    Dips
    BW x 20 x 2 sets

Bench felt awkward/heavy/wonky BUT zero issues or discomfort

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

    Back ham extension things
    5 sets

    Split squats
    Bw x 20 x 2 sets
    20kg x 20

    Squats
    Warm up sets

    Trying new wider stance
    100kg x 5
    100kg x 10 x 3

Will stick with this new stance, felt weak but the movement felt smooth

How do you find your strength now, at your current weight, compared to when you were the same weight before your big bulk? Hope that makes sense!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

With me it's hard to judge strength as I usually jump from one main lift to another so for my push workouts I will focus on BB OHP for a few months then jump to dips then dumbbell bench press. A lot of this jumping has to do with the fact that I train in my shed and don't have access to certain equipment, for example I don't have bumpers for deadlifts or a suitable setup for benching, tho I can do this at the local football pitch gym.

So it's hard for me to think back and compare strength levels before I bulked but I do believe I am carrying more muscle now and definitely feel a lot stronger. One think I remember very clearly is how quickly my strength shot up once I began to gain the weight, more weight = bigger Foundation to push from.

I actually have a video from before my bulk and I do seem bigger now although I don't have the weight recorded, bit maybe I posted it on this log Hmmm will check

So I'm sure that doesn't in anyway answer your question lol

New squat stance is here to stay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,654 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

How wide is the new stance?

I used to have a pretty narrow stance bit widened it out a bit. Trying to get the balance of the extra bit of muscular involvement and what feels strong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

Distance between feet is about the length of your average wombat.

It's not super wide, just wider than any stance I have tried before. It feels weak but smooth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,654 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

I think you might be confusing a wombat with a koala but I get it

An hour of random arm rubbish supersetted with shoulder mobility drills.

Gonna try and increase my Squat/Bench/deadlift and possibly take part in a comp near the end of the year. I feel that having a goal in mind will help keep me motivated, especially since I train alone.

Not even sure of the weight classes, does it jump from 83 --90?

I was planning to bulk again but this time very conservativly, no more dirty bulks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,654 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

    <74, <83, <93

Doesn't really matter what you go in at. If you're 84, just lift in 93s and go for the biggest total rather than try cut to 83s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo
