I'd be all for a two bye week system. There are too many injuries these days and a lot of them happen late in the season. I don't think it's just a coincidence that players suffer later in the season. Two bye weeks means players will be fresher towards the end of the season which is a good thing imo.

From an NFL perspective as well, it would mean better TV coverage.

Having regular season games spread out by an extra week means that more games could be watched by fans as there would be less contention on a weekly basis for major network coverage.

The only downside of dropping a pre-season game would be roster management. Typically the starters only really play game 3, with the other 3 games being used to let guys compete for spots.
Dropping a game means less opportunity to compete.

Kaepernick visiting the seahawkes. He'd do well there as a back up if needed

sure jets have McCowan now - and gonna suck for Sam - they will run with McCowan until he gets hurt in week 3 and then try Petty for 2 games until he shows no sign of promise and then last 11 games with hackenberg to see if he has anything...

Extra bye weeks would result in a thinner pool of games each week. When you take out the prime time games you could be left with a handful of uninspiring games with which to fill Red Zone each week.
Just take out the duds then

Dont forget how many dud games were on primetime last year - the bears seemed to be on every week! So primetime games can be duds themselves

5 Redskins prime time games next season. Plenty of dud potential there.

I don't know, since Cousins kicked on they put up a lot of yards and points, but concede a lot too.

Chiefs cut Jeremy Maclin. Strange timing to do it now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,475 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Maclin's cap hit was $12.4M this year. Release gives Chiefs $10M in cap space. Costs them $2.4M dead money this season, $4.8M next year.

Still makes no sense to me.

A bit flumixed on the Maclin move tbh. There has to be more to it than finance surely. I mean dont the chiefs consider themselves a playoff/championship team? I don't see conlon or wilson providing the same production as a healthy Maclin.

Also if they wanted to release him they could have done so ages ago with the same cap hit by giving him more chance to land a deal to suit himself elsewhere. Has to be more going on.

Chiefs were fairly thin at WR even with Maclin, can't understand that at all. He could be a very good pickup for a few teams.

Maclin apparently skipped his honeymoon to attend voluntary OTA's, wow Chiefs that is harsh

Goes to show there is no sentiment in the NFL

Have they seen something in OTAs from their other wr's to say they can cope without him? Their style of offence is probably less reliant on elite receivers, and in Kelce they have a top 3 TE and I'd imagine hill will play a bigger part again this year

How do you skip a honeymoon? Surely his wife didn't go without him, they just scheduled it for another time? :pac:

How many takes was that done in I wonder, the throw from up in the stadium looks like a1000/1 shot. Unbelievable

Edit: looking at it again I think I should have added a few more 00s to the odds, it it faked?

Maclin expected to decide between the Ravens and the Bills today.

Baltimore badly need to land either him or Decker or it's going to be a long season in terms of the receiving corps.

They recruited Maclin really heavily, so to miss out would be a blow. He went to Tony Jefferson's house with some of the team to watch the NBA Finals game and Steve Smith brought him on a tour of the facilities.

Maclin to the Ravens rubber stamped. Two year deal.

Good signing for ye Paully. Apparently ye are still in the running for Decker too, where that money is going to come from I'm not sure.

That would be a great addition for the titans.

Jealous I think Decker would have been a great fit in New England if we didn't already have so many WRs. He is going to be huge for Mariota and opens up a lot of passes for him.
