New Zealand are 1/4 odds on to win the series and when you look at their squad you can see why.

    Moody
    Coles
    Franks

    Retallick
    Whitelock

    Cane
    Read
    Latino

    Perenara
    Barrett/Cruden

    Savea
    Crotty
    Lienert Brown
    Ioane

    Smith.

I actually think 1/4 is generous... the reality is that the Lions have a punishing few games before the first test with teams that would match many tier 1 nations....I would think a series win for the AB's is realistically 1/16

They can even afford to pay some random Latino guy in at flanker.

I thought it was just any one of Latino origin who could step in and fill the jersey......

Christ, I'm just reading on Wiki that Oliver Jager's dad is a 6"10 Dutch strength and conditioning coach called 'Harm'.

Payne replaced with Daly due to calf injury

That's a shame for Payne. Hope he recovers in time for the super rugby games.

As I'm sure you'll agree, the only enjoyable aspect of watching a show like X-Factor are the naively hopeful but ultimately talentless contestants who make a slight show of themselves on national TV. But have you ever noticed that very few (if any) of these people on the UK shows come from Wales? General consensus is that if you're from Wales, and you can't sing, you'll be made well aware of this from a very young age, and thus not grow up under any illusions.

That cop from Tutira Mai makes me want to watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople again.

Very interesting that Henderson is going to be calling the line outs for the Lions on Saturday.

I think he called them against England, and he has been calling them for Ulster for a while.

I know this is as easy a game as you will get in NZ but it is a good opportunity for someone like Henderson to lay down a marker.

He was s+c coach with blackrock school teams while Oliver was in school.
He's worked with quite a few international teams in a few sports afak

Will every team the lions play do a haka or is just the rep teams and the All Blacks ???

If they all do hakas the players will be sick of them

Was that All Blacks doc on Sky yet ?

As an aside - but it ruins your story - the referee apparently awarded a penalty for a different offence, and was not sucked in by Hayden's ridiculous dive.

    D

Says here it was given for Wheel's push on Oliver. Oliver's response looks more than a tad theatrical in slo mo.

Wheel's reputation may have played a role there.

I remember many people were miffed by Haden's behaviour.

I also clearly remember it as Scotland-NZ.

That cop is former AB fullback Glen Osborne. He is actually a cop now.

The Blues, Chiefs, Crusaders and Maori will all do hakas I think. If the players get sick of them then tough ****. It's part of NZ rugby culture. Like being silent for the kicker is part of Irish rugby.

Does that mean the NZ crowd will be quiet during kicks? :D

Why those three and not the Highlanders and Hurricanes out of interest?

Big Iain calling the lineout tomorrow – Warburton and AWJ excited about his physicality and “composure”.

I think this has been a tough season for him at Ulster. Started of well (a few MotM awards at sic in the first month or two) and then got so quiet and disappointing. This tour could possibly be the making of him.

I see a nz poll says the 78% of new Zealanders can't name a single lions player. Got me thinking that there really isn't a superstar player this tour like O'Driscoll, Wilkinson, O'Connell, would have been in previous tours, maybe Itoje? Whether that's a bad thing I'm not so sure

I never knew the importance of lineout calls until I lived in Ireland. Lived in ignorant bliss for far too long.

They can't even name the kiwis? That's pretty bad.

Probably goes some way to explaining why the set piece has been a weakness down there for so long

i cant believe that considering they played and were beaten by Ireland 6 months ago with Murray getting rave reviews.

From what I've heard it was decision for each franchise. The players and staff decided if they wanted a Haka for the team. The Chiefs had one created a few years ago that they've performed a few times post match. The Blues and the Crusaders decided to do the same but the Canes and the Highlanders didn't. Don't know why.

Reminds me of a story told by Shelford (probably apocryphal). He was playing against Moss Keane. The call came down the line and he heard Moss mutter "Oh fúck, not me again".

To clarify, I know it's important that they are called....I just didn't know who called them was a big deal.
