Peter Hynes won the overall in the Farmer of The Year last night, No background in farmng, milking 150 cows after 7 years, used technology to learn how to farm.
We gave the sheep award to Joe Scahill farming at the foot of Croagh patrick, a lovely guy, so passionate about farming, started with nothing and put together a farm through contract shearing and fencing.....a worthy winner

I was just reading the local rag.

The headline on an article was "Strawberry growers breach Labour laws".
It goes on to say how two well known fruit growers found themselves before the District Court last week facing charges of breaching employment labour laws in relation to both record keeping and the employment of minors.
You have to provide details it seems for under 18's.
Whatever that means now. Not sure if it is illegal or not now but the article seems like they're clamping down on it.

16-18 year olds are only allowed work a particular number of hours a week, IIRC 16 year olds less than 17 or 18 year olds. It's why a lot of places steer clear of hiring teenagers still in school and don't do work experience at all.

Caesarian this evening. 2 year old heifer, not supposed to be in calf. Calf not big, but she was too fat and hadn't opened. In fairness, she was quiet. Calf was a female, so the vet said we should name it after herself. Most caesarians are bull calves.
    Both are doing well.

He's a good journalist, put IFA under a microscope often and threw many scuds into farm Centre......no harm as it turns out

I just said how much land we have, and a bit about our farm and where it is. What type of land , breeding , etc.
I don't think there is any marks going for an introduction so I didn't out much effort into it.

    They all go that way.

The reason being that most people are right handed and that you tend to reach further with your good hand and the curve on the rotary when turning would mean if it starts to get away on you your right hand can stretch out to put the clusters on that cow.
That's a complicated way of saying it suits right handed people better.

    Turning to the left?

You learn something new every day.:)

I have a relation with a Pearson one and it turns to the right and he's right handed and you'd just stay on the one spot (rubber mat) because it turned to the right. Well so they say any way. But I can see the reasoning for it.

What make was the one you worked on and did you have to move at all from the one spot?
Perhaps you are left handed and it suited you perfectly?
