If firing the GM was even on the table, why not get a new guy in before the draft?

Strange move by the Bills now, why not do it when you got rid of Rex and start new, no guarantee the new gm will get on with someone else's choice of head coach,

Jesus the bears only just wrestled the title of laughing stock of the league from the browns and then the bills go and swipe it from under their noses.

McDermott was given control of the draft. They kept Whaley around until after the draft to stop his or their information getting around. The plan was always to give him the bullet after the draft apparently.

Chiefs apparently offered 2 firsts, 2nd and a fourth for the Titans pick #5

File this under weird, the Patriots have signed identical twins Jacob and Cody Hollister as UDFAs: http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/patriots-reportedly-sign-twins-as-undrafted-free-agents-043017

Now if we could just sign Jason McCourty to line up next to his identical brother Devin on defense that would be more beneficial.

    Paging Paully D...

Jags have picked up the 5th year option on Bortles

That was a great read from Peter King.

He was with the Cowboys in their war room last year and detailed how they ended up with Prescott, who has basically their 3rd choice after missing out on Lynch and Cook. Funny how things work out sometimes.

    Here's the link:

Understandable as there's nothing else they could really do now, but he's never, ever going to be good enough and I'd be astonished if they tie him down to a large deal.

He will still show the same issues this year he has shown for the last 3 seasons and they will decide to move on.

I'll be interested to see how he does - he was a lot better after the change in coach last year. He'll never be anything special, but depending on how they look in preseason they might be worth a few bets to cover spreads early next year (assuming they are large underdogs). That defense got better as the year went on and was flat out nasty at times, they added some very good pieces to it, the guys there were very young with a lot of rookies who should kick on further in their second year, they reached for him but Fournette with Ivory & Yeldon behind him could give them a good running game especially with Brandon Albert and Richardson added to the line, and they have decent receiving options (he's not getting reinstated, but if Blackmon somehow does they've got very scary weapons). It has been said about them before alright and we won't know anything until we at least see how the pieces look together, but the Jaguars might well be a surprise team this year.

Im happy about this option anyway.. Jags drafted well i think and fournette will help, but Bortles will kill them in the long run

    Mettenberger released by the Steelers

Such a shame, ****ing injuries :(

He should have gone #1 overall in the 2014 Draft IMO and he had shown enough when on the field to suggest he would become a franchise QB. I genuinely think he'd have gone on to have a greater impact than Carr had he stayed healthy.

Zimmer said a couple of months ago that he didn't know if he would ever be able to play again.

But this just means they'll get one more year of the rookie deal before they have to make a decision on a long term deal. Seems like a good decision to me.

    EDIT: This was about Bortles.

Maybe the real Joe Mixon found boards and thought he'd have some 'fun'.

Kind of weird in my opinion, he doesn't even turn 25 until November. I've a bad feeling this might mean he doesn't play another down in his career, because he's good enough, smart enough and young enough that even if they just flat out preferred Bradford they would likely be able to get at least a third for Bridgewater in my opinion (and if a team needing a QB, or even someone like the Saints or Pats if they trade away Garoppolo made that trade, I'd have to call it very good value).

Word is that there was nerve damage associated with his knee and it's just not recovering. Suspect you're right about his career being over.

Horrible to hear with him being right on the cusp of making tens of millions he'd been working towards his whole life, he seemed a pretty decent guy too. :(

So because a particular team drafted him, it's grand to see his career ended at 23 years of age in his rookie contract only a year or two off cashing in on what he had been working his whole life towards, from when he was a kid in a poor neighbourhood with very high crime numbers etc, and despite him seeming a pretty decent guy all in all?

    Classy.

Personally, I'd far prefer Bradford under center than I would a healthy Bridgewater. That said, its an absolutely horrible injury that you wouldn't wish on anyone. Can't help but have empathy for him there, regardless of the team he plays for, surely?

Hopefully his career isn't over, but it certainly does not look positive for him.
