You judge the car and you're judging it's owner. Is that not getting personal?

Well of course it is! But I wouldn't go up to them and tell them to justify it to me, so I think that makes a difference.

Why are you asking advice from someone who completed their degree 15 years ago?

My advice to you is to stop sending me unsolicited private messages and stop following me around from thread to thread like a beggar. You come across like an obsessive oddball.

He just wants a BMW 5 series help a bruddah out..

I'm going to play devils advocate a bit here Eddy, but by striving to "rise above" your working class origins, does it not imply that you consider it more desirable to be middle-class rather than working class and therefore that in some sense you judge working class people negatively? As if you're saying, "I don't judge them, I just don't want to *be* one of them myself"?

Fair question OB. I would say most people with aspirations to be a doctor or scientist would want to be one based on the qualities of profession and not to "not be like someone".

I always had a passion for science. It's not really a class thing but a fair question all the same.

I'm in government research as I mentioned many times Pbear. I'm not on a base salary nor will I be vulgar enough to mention a figure. Is judging salary another thing we can add to your list?

The second point isn't credible based on some of your ideas about PhDs.

And judging that it's not a huge amount. Begrudgery at it's finest.

More than a PhD anyway, he is worth 20 million dollars now anyway. That is 18.333607.80 euros.

There's a large element of truth in that, but we also get to judge the judgers on the metrics they utilise for their judging.

It's the circle of life. :)

I can based on my own career tell you my first job i was on the high end wage based on my skill, if you were to google my starting out wage on what i should be on, it wouldnt have been near what i was earning, so to say you know someones salary based on google is unreliable at best.

No I'm not. I'm certainly well off and content with my wage though. I am happy with my lot and my contributions to science as well. I'd be delighted If I can make a lot more too.

Whether you like it or not dude I am a success and am happy with where I am. It would be more pertinent for you to examine your own problems with other people's aspirations and success.

    Jasus lads
Perma I don't think the shams in Donegal were judging you on your success cos
1 how could they know how sucessfull you are
2 well I think 2 is self evident

God I wish I lied now and said people gave me an awful time for wanting to be succesful. It's certainly true now.

How much Eddy actually earns doesn't really matter, Pbear.

If he's happy with it, then he's succeeded. Success is as much about recognising the personal worth of where you are and how far you've come personally, not just what you have.
