Is it just me or is this pretty much telling you a big plot twist of the main film
man created the alien when david bombed the creators to hell

Unless the film opens right where this ends I'll be annoyed that I watched this.

Pretty sure the Engineers used the alien as Mr Muscle type cleaner and that was clearly obvious?

Unless there are timelines I am missing?

Are these spoilers for the new film?

Yes we knew the engineers did, but this prologue screams to me that David used the alien back on the engineers themselves. So unless the film opens with the bombing of the creators planet I feel like this is a plot point that normally doesnt come out until halfway or more through the full film.

Quick answer: I don't think so, No.

    Long answer:
Hard to tell. Let me think.
    Non-reveal
It's called a prologue and that reminds me of 80s TV shows. They used to have a scene at the end that would have the word "epilogue". So anyway, as far as I know, and after a quick google.. usually the bit at the very start is a prologue.

As far as cast goes, it doesn't have anyone from the Alien Covenant main trailers.

    Light Reveal
    So it's just basically
a quick summary of "what happened" after Prometheus

    Heavy Reveal
    It's the
quick story of Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) repairing the Prometheus android David (Michael Fassbender) and them setting off on one of the Engineer race ships to the Engineer race home planet

    Beyond the trailer Reveal
    At the
end of the trailer, it looks like the David android (Michael Fassbender) hasn't woken Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and gets to see the Engineer race home world first and he says something philosophical. Of course we've seen a poster where he's standing by watching all those containers being launch at the Engineers below. Now Prometheus left the impression those containers were dangerous biological/chemical weapons. So it looks like it's gonna be an attack by us on them.
    Hence my: Uh oh

Nice of them to release something on Alien day as well.

I am cautiously optimistic for this now...cautiously.

Bar the bit at the end, it would appear that this footage isn't in the film. It's promotional like the last prologue. It's still quite spoilerish, though.

Used the first half of my superticket las night. So managed to watch Prometheus again, and got to see, the original alien movie that started it all on the big screen for the first time.
Personally thought is was sad to see a lot of people leaving altogether during "Alien" as I think is a better movie.

Spoilerish yes, but the last couple of scenes are pretty epic. My curiosity got the better of me last night. However it didn't contain anything that hadn't already been spoiled by accident. As I had been youtubing Prometheus, a lot of related videos which contain spoilers in the actual thumbnails appear on the screen :-(

There are subtle hints of in the prologue too which are giving a little bit away too. Ah well, 2 weeks

    It's pretty gruesome.
Shows the complete back-burster scene, and also the mouth-burster. The cam footage is pretty dark and doesn't do justice to seeing it on the big screen, plus there is a head in the way of some of it . I was suitably horrified/impressed.

The prologue stinks of being something they had expanded on during filming but decided to cut it into a deleted scene and call it a prologue to quickly push themselves away from Prometheus and more towards Alien.

    Got a 16 rating.

    Yep, 16s.

Strong sci-fi horror and bloody violence.

Everything is up at the "Strong" level in that table

Looks like it didn't go from 16s to 18s because no instructional or glamorised drug use:

    DRUGS
Films at this category might feature themes and scenes relating to hard drug use. However, any instructional or glamorised drug use, particularly involving teen protagonists, is unlikely to be acceptable.

In case anyone isn't aware of it, there's an Alien and Aliens Double Bill on later today from 3pm in the Lighthouse.

Prometheus reviews were mixed but I went anyway and enjoyed it.

I will be going anyway and won't bother with the reviews. With the director in question it will be solid at least.

Premier is tomorrow in London? Or tonight, who cares, just hurry up.

I have to wait longer as well, stupid Canada.

I really liked Prometheus, despite some vitriolic fan outrage :)
It was just beautiful to look at and the story I was mostly ok with also.
I won't read reviews - I'll just look at a metascore or something like that. once it's over 45/100 I'll go!

I wasn't mortally offended that it was not true to the "legacy" and "heritage" of a bit of science fiction :)

the only bit I though was really daft was the alien abortion growth and its fight with the creator dude.

    I Hear you.

Saw it in the cinema having looked forward to it for months and really enjoyed the visuals and back story to one of my favourite franchises of all time (I even tolerate Alien Resurrection ;)).

It was only afterwards when i read the reviews/fan theories/plot holes that I started to doubt my enjoyment of it.

    Sometimes ignorance is bliss!:)

I didn't get involved in that bs. take everything on its own merits.
Some people have too much time to get exorcised about things.
