But its asinine to compare them. There is a perfectly reasonable argument to be made that for women 7s is likely to be the more popular version of the sport going forward due to the Olympic exposure. Men's rugby has well established tournaments in XV a side (as well as a fully professional game!) and XVs is undeniably the larger version of the sport.

You can't apply the same standards to two scenarios which have completely different fundamentals behind them.

The only thing asinine is to assume that the women players feel the same way ...But will leave it there now as some of the posts here are getting a little mysoginistic

    No they're not.

That's a bit tinfoil hattish tbh. The freedom of the internet isn't going to stand or fall on application encryption. But the fact that looking for backdoors to the likes of WhatsApp isn't going to actually do much for anti-terrorism forces other than at the fringes, proves (a) that these systems are currently unbreakable and (b) that they're being used.

Isn't Privacy Shield about data transfers between Europe and the US and not just ISPs? I'm not sure what relevance it has to this legislation which only affects US ISPs and therefor US consumers.

Don't think so, it's quite reasonable to view this as a restriction in the freedom of the Internet. Not having your conversations monitored is certainly something I expect as a right. It's hardly Tin foil hattish to have an issue with being spied on is it?

Privacy shield allows for the sharing of information, as it stands, once the information is shared with the US it will become subject to their laws, i.e. Free to buy.

Was going to say more about that but instead I'll just say there's a lot more going on there than meets the eye.

However it's not in the same universe as the ****ehawkery at play over at the FAI

    Wow....

way to completely misrepresent what's being said.

There is absolutely no misogyny here, just a better understanding of the facts.

If you can't debate a topic without resorting to hyperbole and more condescension I suggest you don't start in the first place. Also for everyone, wrong thread for rugby talk. Back off topic please!

For those sailors on here, what do people prefer for navigation, a Sextant or a Radio Operated GPS (ROG)?

Most people clearly don't care, judging by the amount of facebook/twitter etc. users out there. If you want the full tinfoil hat, it's easily available. All you need is the capability (or someone with it) to create your own private, encrypted app. But that's just from mobile devices, there are many other options available outside those platforms.

You're confusing ISP data with corporate data. They are completely different.

Over an hour into the children's choir recital tonight. The Bette Middler medley was probably my favourite so far. Well apart from one of the 3 tenors singing a few Adele numbers.

Are you trying to suggest that what people post publicly is the same as private messages?

This is not about security, it's about data mining, that's not paranoia.

Anything that passes over the IPS servers will be subject to this, so unless it's heavily encrypted it will be subject to data mining.

I feel your pain ohs daughter is doing some drama course in college and I was brought to one of their "productions" last year. I walked halfway through and waited in the bar rather than endure it

I've refused to go to any since

Facebook messenger, Snapchat are all believed to be private when they are not. People use them all the time.

So you're saying that all data travelling through ISPs in the US will be sold. All data? Files, database replication, backups etc.?

You do realise that most of that traffic never goes near a server?

    Anyone using Mastodon?
Mastodon is a free, open-source social network server. A decentralized solution to commercial platforms, it avoids the risks of a single company monopolizing your communication. Anyone can run Mastodon and participate in the social network seamlessly.

Apparently it's popularity is sky rocketing to the point that some of the instances have had to close registration while they scale up their resources.

Yeah, I signed up to it a day or two ago. It's an interesting project for sure!

Which instance did you register with? mastodon.social has disabled registration... the others seem a bit "niche".

FAI have reached agreement with the women's internationals. Talks didn't finish up until something like 3am, as far as I'm aware they got everything they were after. Fair play to them.

...and part of the agreement seems to have been that the PFAI can't mention the fact that the FAI are still refusing to deal with them, even though their solicitor managed to get that across on Morning Ireland there now.

The FAI executive are utterly ridiculous. I can't understand how the likes of John Delaney are "earning" the salary they do. I'd love to see a breakdown of what exactly it is he does day to day.

What's really shameful is that while all this occurred, John Delaney was given a new position and salary at UEFA. That's extending the shame beyond our borders really.

That's an amazing role. I thought I misheard when they said it's a part time role with a salary of 100k, expenses and a per diem of 300 euro.

I could have breakfast in the Shelbourne, lunch in Shanahans and dinner in Chapter One for €300.

I would imagine the surface hasn't even been scraped in terms of corruption within football.

Kilbane was on OTB the other night talking about it. He said the treatment is obviously very shabby but, when the grievances of not being given tracksuits was put to him, he was incredulous. The mens team don't get tracksuits either, apparently. He said they're expected to hand them back and they're passed on to the younger teams, the U18 sides etc.

It seems that 15 years on, the lessons of Saipan are still somewhat unlearned. Ironic given Keane is now sitting on the other side of the table now.
