Is it that bad Joe for the inconvenience of dropping it in?

Nope - hence I didn't do anything about it for 6 months :pac:

It's very subtle. It is a pain in the ass dropping it in but the dealers are fairly close by and they are good about warranty stuff, no qualms about getting it sorted.

Do they have the new R in stock yet. I see the dealer here has a blue one in with the digital dials etc. Looks well

Hard choice between that red in your pic and the dark grey. Went for the grey on the end. Those wheels are part of the performance pack which is silly money. I stayed with standard ones.

What comes with the performance pack and how much is it?

I think there's a few new colours with the facelift, that red and a new blue are especially nice to my eyes.

The Leon has always been a good looking car and I was tempted by it before I bought my Octavia but I found it too small inside.

Best of luck with it, can't wait to see the pics.

I don't think so. I didn't have time to have a proper look around. I did see a few facelift Highline's and the likes but no GTI's / R's...

Yeah I saw the one in Donegal up on FB! Not mad on those wheels but the prets are still a cheap-ish option. The digital dash is nice but the new radios look a bit odd. A bit aftermarket or something.

If memory serves the pack is a few black bits on the grille and mirrors, tiny side skirts, brembo front calipers and discs, those wheels and Michelin Pilot tyres. Thick end of 5k for the privilege. 4k without the tyres.

VW UK have announced details/prices of the R's "performance pack":

    R performance pack
The recommended retail price (RRP) is £2,300 and the pack includes:

    • R performance braking system
    • derestricted top speed allows Hatch models to reach 166mph (267km/h) and Estate models to hit 168mph (270 km/h)
    • new rear spoiler which gives 20kg more downforce (Hatch models only)
    • 65 per cent tinted windows (this is already standard in UK)
    • 19-inch Spielberg alloys

    R performance Akrapovič titanium exhaust
This lightweight titanium performance exhaust with a honeycomb design made by Akrapovič will cost £2,975 RRP.

The R performance exhaust has round instead of oval pipes and will have valve control which customers can manage through the Driver Profile Selection. It’s 7kg lighter than the standard exhaust system, high temperature resistant and has optimal rust protection.

That is mad money alright. The wheels are lovely though...

Before I bought my car I was very interested in the Leon cupra 3 door with the sub 8 performance pack. I was told point blank there was zero chance of getting either a 3 door or the performance pack.
    Have they changed their tune?

Officially the 3 door isn't available here but the guy I was dealing with suggested it could be ordered. The performance pack is available but stupidly expensive.

I had a good look around an indium grey facelift R today.
TBH there wasn't anything that I thought the mk7 was lacking, the LCD dash is nice but other than that it's more or less the same.

I thought indium would be nicer too, car didn't have prets so maybe I was put off by that.

Bob Flavin's video here of the official Irish launch today shows Indium on a GTI. Looks good with the red bits, but maybe it'd be a bit plain on an R...

Also a very stealthy looking black R on Black prets ;)

Mad speed from a hatch, but odd that the estate is marginally quicker. Must be weight thing...

Would ya do it Joe? Cos you know, that sort of speed is accessible every day on Irish autobahns.... ;)

Kidding aside, I am presuming its just a software thing that derestricts it?

Also Joe, keep us posted on the squeak... interested in that.

    Thx

Deposit contribution on facelift is now gone. Still 1.9%.

How do those work anyway? They tell you they're giving you X towards the PCP deposit for the new car? Thereby making your trade in / cost to change seem more attractive?

Basically dressed up that if you originally needed €4,000, you only needed €2,000 of your own money. Decent trade in price seemed to be separate.

Meant to post this yesterday. I did a bit of DIY over the weekend that I had on the long finger for a while. The rear wheel hubs were starting to look very shabby. So after a couple of hours effort they went from this:

    DEF688B4-921A-449A-8312-A7370D623E6A_zps4irus622.jpg

    To this:

    3CCC53C3-617A-477F-869B-30402639D5D8_zpspvxa3mjm.jpg

Happy with how they turned out, makes a big improvement!

    Yeah...
It occurred to me that the "performance pack" is priced at around £2,300 in the UK, it includes the 19's (a £900 option in UK) which are standard here. So it's more like £1400 for the other few bits.

    We are getting somewhere now.
It looks like prets are available as part of that pack, they also have pilot sport cup 2 tyres, he mantioned semi slicks and you can see they are Michelin tyres on that car. The Geneva car had Pirelli semi slicks.

So wheels and track tyres, clubsport brakes, rear spoiler and derestricted, still poor value but making a bit more sense for the £2300 asking price.

I've a feeling DCC cars with the performance pack will get a unique setting similar to the Nurburgring setting on the clubsport S.

The exhaust sound is a bit flat too, cheaper aftermarket ones sound much better.

No, the pack includes those 19" Spielbergs - not the prets! A "performance pack" with the heavier of the 2 19"s options fitted... hmmmm! That's UK though, so it could well be different here - if its made available at all.

This is what you get in the UK for your 2,300:

R performance braking system (i.e. CS brakes)
derestricted top speed allows Hatch models to reach 166mph (267km/h) and Estate models to hit 168mph (270 km/h)
new rear spoiler which gives 20kg more downforce (Hatch models only)
65 per cent tinted windows (this is already standard in UK)
    19-inch Spielberg alloys

The exhaust is separate again and its daft money.

I'd say the prets will be offered in some way too, both the Geneva car and now the car in the video have had them with semi slick tyres and the performance pack.

Just got the car back after it's second trip to the dealers and squeak is solved now (so it seems). They replaced the left side shock and the suspension top mount. Seems good now although the squeak itself had seemed to be less obvious after the first attempted fix (where they just replaced wishbone bushings).

How does the tire pressure monitoring system work on the Golf? Does it work using the ABS sensor? I got a warning a few days ago, for all four tires. All tires are fine no signs of a slow puncture.

Yeah ABS sensor... detects a change in the rotation of the tyre. It should tell you which tyre is the problem - at least mine does. Sometimes it is just a false alarm.

There is a far more sophisticated system that you could retro-fit if you had the DIY skills / inclination - http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?5328-TPMS-(Tire-Pressure-Meter-System-Direct)-for-VW-Golf-MKVII-MQB

The standard system works well enough I find. It flagged up a slow puncture (screw in the tyre) for me a few weeks ago. Luckily it only required a plug to fix it.

It will highlight (orange) which tire is the problem, but this out of the blue just flashed up all tires. Every time it has popped up I've had a slow puncture, picking up screws/nails from site visits. So I've faith in the system working, just curious as to why it would flash all four.

I might just ring the garage as I have the squeak coming from the front right as well.

The 'B' pillar between the front and rear doors has an information card which details the correct tire pressure for front and rear tires.
