Mock Georgian was just a magazine show house. Maybe I'm used to my own clutter and can't afford a cleaner but it looked a bit sterile from the inside.

House down in kerry was just a tonne of money given to an architect.. same cold sterile feel with no colour.

Both of them would be 'house' of the year but the other one would have been 'home' of the year. It looked lived in with things added and taken away. The owner had their own unique personal taste and wasnt afraid to do colour and interesting styles (like the internal room/favourite spot).

I like the show but the 3 judges often seem to see the 'house' as opposed to the 'home'.

Totally agree with you. While I thought the last house was unreal, it didn't come across as a home. I'd have half the ornaments broken in about two weeks if I was living there.

The kerry house, while lovely, did nothing for me

    Delighted the first one won.

All family homes but a bit fussy for me. Grey is obviously the flavour of the month for interiors. The Georgian house in NI had a lot of money invested in it but was spoiled by having the garages plonked in front of the house. No Georgian would have done that.

Weakest selection of 3 houses in a long time on the programme

Can anyone ever recall a judge giving less than 7? I know that the 21 houses were chosen ahead of all of the other applicants and so by definition are fairly strong, so it's unlikely.

Also, what do they do if there's a tie? I was expecting Deirdre to give the Georgian house a 9, which would have resulted in two 27s.

That would be far too awkward  You can almost tell by their enthusiasm which house will win, I thought the Georgian house would do it but houses with a 'lived in' look seem to fare better than the glossy magazine look ?

    Tis on again...

1st house... not doing it for me sorry! Too much grey.
You'd be baking up at that mezzanine peering out at the neighbours missus in the shower with yer telescope.

They never really bother with the bedrooms.

2nd gaffe seems a bit more homely . Like the greenhouse look.

I liked the inside of the first house. Wasn't keen on the outside.

I've just watched back 3 weeks with of episodes, an a bit dizzy with houses now - and still tonight's episode to go!

Hated and loved the "Georgian " house last week in equal measure... whoever said it was a magazine show house but the nail on the head.

Did the Danish woman in the bungalow not have a bedroom  There seemed to be lots of sitting rooms but nowhere for a bedroom! Thought that was a worthy winner. Although not sure i could live with all that darkness.

    Right, on to tonight's candidates....

Wowzers to the first one!!! Although it seemed strangely cluttered somehow. And too grey-brown. And beer complicated. But oh those views!!!

Another interior designer  This series is starting to turn into just a showcase for their own projects. Makes it all the better when an ordinary punter wins!

The railway house has been my favourite of the series so far. Absolutely in love with it. The stonework was amazing and I love converted buildings, I'm not sure if I'd have the patience for 8 years of renovations though. Fabulous end result however! So much light and warmth in that house.

Wasn't massively keen on the second house. Agreed with Declan calling it 'busy' it definitely had a lot going on, the kitchen / dining room was lovely though.

Wicklow is very well represented this season!

That last house was pretty spectacular alright - I think it's probably my favourite of the season as well. It was like a tardis - looked tall and tiny from the outside, but huge inside. Looked a bit mad sitting up on its plinth as well - one too many glasses of wine and you'd walk off that handy enough  Presume that's why they had the edges lined with plant pots!

I've said it before, but I'd LOVE if they said where exactly the houses are - mind you, the owners probably don't want to be plagued with nosey nellies like me wandering up for a gawk!

As an aside, having binge-watched four episodes all at once, two things occur to me -

    1. if I hear the phrase "a POP of colour" once more I'll scream, and
    2. a throw on one arm of a chair, or over end of a sofa, is the thing this season. Assymetry is clearly all. Who knew?

My fave was the railway house, though all three were spectacular. Having just sold my own house, I am looking for somewhere else to live. Unfortunately what I can aim for is far less than those houses that appear on HOTY.

The railway house did it for me, loved the stonework, the kitchen, the original window arches and doorways etc. One of those houses you could spend ages looking around at all the details.

Didn't like the first house, it was too dull or something, there was no personality, it was very showroom, show house, dull colours of greys, beiges, browns, neutrals.

The middle house, wasn't mad about it either. Liked the kitchen, kinda. Was that the one with the front room with mustard coloured walls and a mish-mash of different furniture, really didn't like that room.

What kind of a rubbish article is that?

They obviously just watched the programme and quoted most of it word for word! It's plain they never met or interviewed the couple, nor saw the actual house.

Is this what we've come to now? Just watch the telly and it's fodder for an article in a national newspaper?

They do this all the time. Throw in a few tweets from people who were watching, headline to reflect some off the wall comment on Twitter and job done! It's ridiculous, gotta fill those column inches...

There are 7 "rounds", and then the final.

I watched at least four episodes in my binge-watch last week, and I think there was one more before that (or maybe two?)

Seems to not be on this coming week - maybe something to do with this "Big Week on the Farm", whatever that is

Anyway, you definitely haven't missed the final :)

Nobody watching this (well, last) week?

    Just catching up now.

House no. 1 - tried to hard. Lovely, but I'd be sick of that colour scheme fairly quick. Just a bit..... twee... for my liking. Gorgeous living room though, and that outdoor area was fab.

House no. 2 in NI.... wowzers!! Now that I could live in! Loved the orange kitchen (although whether I could look at it for 20 years, I'm not sure). Just seemed like a gorgeous, well-designed family home.

House no. 3 has just come on, and I hate it already! And could the owner be any more blatant about promoting her business while describing it?

ETA - and every single cushion in the place has a different motto..... God this place is giving me hives

    Bling, bling, bling.

Totally agree re house 3 Heidi - I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until I saw the first Marylin painting! All very tacky, and as you say, everything she said was a blatant sales pitch for her services. I don't think I've seen a house with such immaculate finishes that I've liked less.

I have learned from this show 'alot of personality' means a lot of stuff everywhere :D

What's the point of that first room when you walk through the door of the second house? It's like a reception area.
