The dome in Rathmines could be seen from his roof top, interesting house.

Loved the cottage, inside and out, felt really homely. The pink and blue probably shouldn't have worked on the windows but were fab. Such a snug living space. The outside was just as nice, would have liked to see what they did with the outside buildings.

Wasn't too keen on the second house. Didn't feel like a home you could relax in, and agree with Patrick on the distance - imagine carrying any food from the kitchen to the dining room! Madness!

Anyone gonna watch the 'Celebrity' episode tonight. 'Celebrity' is usually a bit of a joke in RTE land but sure it's probably worth a look.

Yeah, I'm gonna take a look.

I wouldn't be a fan of the yellows or oranges in Ballagh's home.

    Watching now. Can't hack Hugh.
    Ballagh's house looks cool.

These programmes show me that I'm not brave with mad colours in my own home.
    And that makes me happy.

I hate every curtain in Ramona's house! Agreed with most of their comments about the waste of a view.
John Boyne's house was my favourite.

I loved John's bookcases, it looked like the most homely of all the houses featured.
    Glad he won.

Robert Ballagh's house was my favourite

Delighted John won-heard him interviewed on Marian Finnucane (with Brendan O'Connor presenting) and it was a gut wrenching interview. The colours in his house were beautiful. Ramona's house screamed money-those curtains must have cost a fortune.

Very ironic than a single man living in 3 houses is supporting a homeless charity

Hugh Wallace should hand his architect cap back in.. Ramonas house is textbook celtic tiger mcmansion. Its probably an eyesore on the very view they were talking about...

Thought his comments to the other judge (Peter?) were undeserved. I watch Home of the Year and Hugh has often voted very differently to the other judges.

My favourite was Jean Byrne's followed by John Boyne's. Least favourite was Ramona's Celtic Tiger display of wealth, not my style at all.
I liked what Robert Ballagh had achieved but I don't think I could live with the picture of him with all his credentials hanging out.
Thought the new judge was very easy on the eye. I didn't realise that Deirdre had Dutch connections until she mentioned it tonight.
All in all I enjoyed the show

    How old is Ramonas house????.

It looked much older to me than Celtic tiger McMansion.

(And yes I realise it's possible to deliberately design that way)

    Just watching now.

I hate Ramona’s house. Curtains are not to my taste. It’s ina fab heavenly setting though.
Can’t understand how Hugh could rave about it so much. To me it was text book join the dots evening class interior design. No personality especially compared to the other houses.

I liked Ballagh’s house, loved John Boyne’s house. I though Eleanor Macavoys house was quirky and lovely. I also enjoyed jean Byrnes house.

Fab program, lovely way to spend an hour while not feeling very well.

That was actually a fairly good program.
My favourite house won - I thought his home looked so welcoming, comfortable and interesting.
Next favourites were Ballagh's and Jean Byrne's.
Wasn't a big fan of McEvoy's house, it was quirky and a fine building, just not decorated to my taste.
Did not like Ramona's house. It just screamed money and lots of it. Big heavy drapes everywhere blocking out a fab view. The daughter's bedroom was tiny compared with her own massive suite.

What I did find interesting was the first 3 houses - Ballagh, McEvoy and Boyle - all 3 houses showed that they eat, sleep and breathe their work - art, music, books.

Anyone watching tonight, that first house by the architect in Antrim was stunning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,267 ✭✭✭jos28

It was definitely the best of the bunch. I hated the clutter in the other 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,519 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

I actually feel the opposite. While the first house was nice, I thought it lacked colour and personality. The views were fab though.
The second house was nice, with great touches like the fun cushions and nice colour scheme. But that bathroom was far too busy looking and what was left of the garden you could hardly fit a chair in it to sit out.
The last house was my favourite, the outside was picture perfect. I did like the inside of the house but there was just too much stuff, it was like she was trying too hard. If she did a good declutter and brought in a few personal items like their own photos it would have been far better.
