Was onto them on behalf of a family member today, they told me to cancel and then sign up again.

    Perfectly fine.

Anyone who went to the unlimited flex max SIM only (€30/month) gets this, as it is their standard offering from April 3rd.

3 will gladly take your money, but is it not a bit silly to re-sign a 1 or 2 year contract after cancelling? Yeah you'll get a new phone for free or cheap, but in the long run the 30 day rolling plan is the best option.

I still find three the best out of the bunch for signal where i live.
Vodafone are too high priced and eir and meteor have brutal signal,

Did anyone try getting an early upgrade out of this?

Yeah, I basically said I'd stay if they could give me a phone and your man went droning on with 3 or 4 different things they could offer me, none of which had a phone. So I said, look, give me a phone and I'll stay. All he could say was "you are not due an upgrade until blah, blah..." Yeah dude, I know that. So I'm off then. See ya!

In short, they wouldn't give me one :(

FYI, apparently Virgin are piggy backing on 3's network so Virgin should have exactly the same coverage as 3. This is info I got from my mate who is a mobile phone/broadband junkie. It's like his hobby to keep up with this stuff.

I got a call from Virgin today offering me a sim only contract for €5 per month for 5 months but I can't see what the minimum contract is on their website. Anyone got the same offer ?

There's no minimum term, you just need to give 30 days notice when leaving.

Has anyone that has cancelled their contract been informed that they will loose their number if they dont port or move to another tariff before the 30 days are up??

Yep. Ported after about 20 days just in case. Losing my number? Fook that.

Was on chat with them earlier and was told that I could retain part of the friends and family discount if I went to Sim only. and here's the interesting part : he went on to tell me that even if I stayed on my current plan that my discount would be cut!!!! From 20%to 10% in both cases.
I argued that this was NOT notified in the Three letter. In fact, it states the opposite : that current discounts will not be affected. He said this was definitely the case and offered me a cash back on my bill for next few months, but basically tough luck but discounts being cut as well as prices rising.
TBh I found that hard to believe, but he was insistent that this was the case

What's the best option if u are on a contract with 3. Change provider or speak to them?

Can this method be used to take out a contract now and then cancel it before the change comes in?

Need a good phone but cant afford it .

I just break my €55 Unlimited Flex Max contract(24m starting December 2016) and switch to €29.59 Unlimited Flex Max 1 month contract with no problems.
BTW, yes they will unlock my iPhone 7 plus, as its contract free now.

I signed a new contract on 28th of Feb and managed to cancel.

They told me over the phone that 28th of Feb was the last date you could have signed up on the old terms therefore probably the last date that you sign up and cancel.

I am on a pay as you go deal with 3. I joined them late last year. I contacted them to get an unlock code as im looking to change can and they said they can't give me the code as i haven't spent enough. I've spent 70€ so far but i need to spend €130 before they issue me the code. Any ideas ?

Get the unlock code from a reputable seller on ebay for maybe 5-10 quid.

Thanks Kaiser. I'll probably do that. Is this sneaky stipulation with all operators or just 3 ?

They generally all look for a minimum spend before they'll give you a code.

Ok I've moved to the 30 day sim only plan, cheers for the heads up fellow boardsies I got no letter so this would have passed me by completely.

Anyway question time I was 3 months into a 24 month plan with them and had an iPhone 7 of them for only 199 at the time.

Question is can I go back onto a contract and avail of a new phone again or is that a no no.

For clarity around my question, I would be happy to sign into another 24 month contract as I was happy with the service. ( actually feel a bit guilty over getting the phone so cheap and leaving even tho I was happy with service...silly I know but I'm kinda sorry I did it lol)

I was told by 3 that my plan is not affected it's 24 month €55 it that correct?

So I just moved myself from the 40.66 to the 30 sim only bill pay - only 3 months left in my contract but there is no upgrade discount worth talking about anyway. I will probably stick with phone and on this plan for a while and save 15 a month.
Moved my daughter who got an iphone se in January from 25.41 soon to be 30 a month to 20 euro payg cos we all on 3 anyway and her brother is on this and apart from the pain in the ass remembering to top everyone up every month, it's a good deal and now she gets to keep the phone and move away if we want to.
And moved DH from 40.66 to 30 although he hates his phone so he may well sign up to a new plan in the near future but for now he also saving 15.
total saving a month if it all goes well 40 euro a month

Was just on with Three to that nightmare 1800 number; which after several endless holds and dropped calls (I'd gotten through to an operator three times, but the call went mid-conversation, which is infuriating after all the waiting) I finally was on to a lady in a call centre in Mumbai (I asked) - and when I queried if the Sim Only Unlimited Flex Max plan being offered had the same FUP as my current plan, Classic Flex Max 350 (FUP was 15GB/PM, now 60GB/PM AFAIK), she couldn't tell me; and when I asked her to find out she was unable to do so, so had to end the call as I'm not going to change without knowing the answer first.

So, my question is - does anyone know what the FUP on the Sim Only Unlimited Flex Max 30-day rolling contract plan is? And is it the same, or more , than my current plan?

Do you mind me asking what type of phone is in the free upgrade?

I didn't ask as I only just got a S6 last October and I'm happy with that.
