Few would agree with you. It's essentially a state funeral.

A relative of mine at the funeral said Arelene got a round of applause as she entered he church. Is he pulling my leg or did anyone else hear that?
Fair play to her for going, and to the congregation for receiving her in such a manner.

Thought it was very dignified myself. More than I expected.

    Gerry Adams speaking now

It's all lip service, they'll be back to the norm on Monday.

Should have been a more private affair. I didn't believe in his cause but any man deserves to be laid to rest in a better way than a circus.

    What were you expecting?

Feckin man doesn't know when to shut up

No point in sugar coating what he and most there feel is the truth just because there's a TV camera there.

Ah FFS cut it off again.

Very sudden cut off there, and just to go back to the same repeating report on the guards??

He was done speaking anyway no? Was anyone else due to speak?

I thought we might have had Enda embarrassing himself by speaking in tribute considering he took every spiteful opportunity he could to do them down.

I thought the list of speakers was very well chosen in that sense.

Does anyone have a link to what Adams actually said?

RTE have made it quite clear that they were not over enthused about showing it.

I think the coverage of this funeral on rte has been very disrespectful.

4 or 5 news items on the news before it.
Why is Adams' speech not being shown?

Apparently Christy Moore was due to sing.

Why is Adams' speech not being shown?

Probably because it started before the news & went on till about 5 mins ago.
It was live on rte news now

Is the graveyard ceremony being shown live anywhere or was it to be private?

Being honest I think it's fairly odd. I'm just in from work and wanted to see the coverage. They are mentioning it as a headline but haven't gotten to it yet and it's nearly half six.

    Newstalk doing exactly the same.

    Stop now Gerry.

It's always disappointing when a funeral eulogy becomes a party political broadcast.

I haven't been to any circuses where they buried party leaders so i wouldn't know.

I saw it all on the Player.

If they don't have it up later, check YouTube, its bound to be up there later for sure.

Twenty seven minutes into Six One on RTE and still no report on the funeral. Doubt that would happen if a politician of a similar status in Dublin had died.

"We applaud Martin McGuinness. We salute Martin McGuinness. He was a republican. Up the republic."

This party broadcast was brought to you by Sinn Fein.

Gerry welcomed the Palestine Ambassador. Ambassador to what country, I wonder?

Could be the leader of the Palestine Mission in Dublin, or one of the various embassies they have throughout the world. Could have been their ambassador to the UN?

    Edit:

    Ambassador Ahmad Abdelrazek

RTE refer to him as Ambassador too.

    It was a republican funeral.

Which part of that exactly are people having difficulty understanding?
