The GF rang up and they insisted her plan won't be going up. She's on the 55/month plan and her contract is up in September.

They said in store that she must wait for a letter, was waiting over a week and rang them. She also checked online and it says her plan is going up to 60 in April.

She got into the supervisor on the phone and he said there are "no plans for her contract to increase but if there is she will know before any changes"

So is it not everyone from the 55/month plan going to change or is he winding us up?

    was she with O2 previously?

Don't know ref vf,but ATM im still getting bill notification from eir, even though i finished with them last September, most inept shower on God's earth

I had no end of trouble with EIR cancelling a fixed line, don't waste time, complain now to ComReg , you will then get a reply from EIR.

PS is hassling ex customers on a regular basis a sign of ineptitude?

that's interesting that you were told that. I ended up calling them and was told I would definitely lose the discount going to 30 day rolling!
I might call them again so

My discount is a 'Friends/family' discount and he clearly told me (three times) that it applies to my account and as I was not closing my account merely changing to a different price plan then i retain the discount.

Apparently they're letting you cancel by chat now, would you try that?

Great i will try that then:)

I canceled my mobile broadband last Thusday as the reception had been desperate last 10 months having to reconnect numerous times a day to different masts and now an increase to boot.
Rang up the 1913 number and was finished in few minutes.
No asking me to stay or better deals etc just straight to the point and told when my internet will cease.

I forgot to ask for the unlock code to the mifi device I use and went on their online chat to be told that MiFi devices are not unlocked by three. I was then told that I have to contact the manufacturer directly to get the Mifi device unlocked.
I'll send them an email but doubt if they will give it to me

Anyone try postmobile? They use the Vodafone network, they've got some very good deals.

Had a look at that. Yes, seems quite good. No 4G and looks like you only get €5 of your €20 top up.

She only moved to 3 in September 2015, I don't think it was O2 then, was it?

Edit- sorry read that wrong. She was never on O2, she went from Meteor to Three

    Hi.
I just spoke to a really helpful person in 3 after getting through on the 1800 818021 number straight away. I had just gotten engaged tone when I tried last week. I said I had gotten letter about price increase and asked what were my options. After a 5 minute call if that my contract will end on 18th April and as I have opted for the 20Euros payg option with 3 I just need to call into a 3 store on 16/17th April and get a sim. The person I spoke to was really nice and helpful. Good luck to everyone.

I'd pick up a SIM long before that, not unknown for three shops to be out of stock of them. You can still leave it till your contract ends before porting the old number over to the payg SIM.

Ok, just had a chat with Meteor. Was good until it got the the point where she told me you don't get to keep any of your €20 top up.
Do you keep any of your top up with Virgin? It's not clear on their site.

Virgin plans are billpay. You don't get credit. It costs what it costs.

Well that's that then. Thought sim only plan was like pay €20 a month.

Thinking about it, keeping your €20 top up with Three is still a better option, just not as good as it was.

Sim only plans are like paying €20 a month but you get the bundled minutes/texts and data for that €20. You don't get to keep the €20 to use on other things. The sim only plans are 30 day contracts so it is like pay as you go in that sense. You can leave after a month if you don't like it.

What happens after those 30 days though, do you stop having service?

Im trying to leave it as long as possible before moving to 3PAY so I don't end up paying for both!

I'd say switch over on the day the contract ends if you want no interruption to service at all.

Are you not able to set 3pay as billing method for google play store, so use your credit there?

my 3 contract is cancelled on the 10th of April.

What do I do about transferring my number to Virgin ?

Do I simply inform virgin and they port it over onto a new sim card on the 10th or afterwards ? will my number go dead after that time even for receiving calls unless I arrange with Virgin ?

When your contract with three ends your SIM card becomes invalid on their system and you can't make or receive calls. iirc you have another 10 days to port your number after the contract ends before its lots forever but don't quote me on that check with three.

Note you also loose access to your account on My3 as soon as your contract ends.

I'd port a day or so before the contract ends. You could even port back to three on a pay as you go SIM if you can't find someone else to go with.

I still get them too, I finished with them in 2015. Saying that i was refused a meteor €15 pm 30 day SIM only by their credit department last week!! Probably because of those stupid, your bill is ready notifications. I wrote to them querying it but they never replied, surprise surprise.

Not surprised either, spent over ,5/6 weeks, maybe 4/6 hours, with at least 25/30 different customer care/sales ppl on eir, including on boards ,all except 1 were utterly uncaring, and useless

Buy a sim free phone on e-bay from an EU country (no customs issues) , the Samsung S7 costs €465.

Have you looked at your bill? I'd put money on it that it is that you are in credit. Until you contact them and tell them to return the credit to your bank account you will continue to get the bills forever more.

First off I'd like to thank the OP and various contributors for raising this matter.

Secondly I'd like to ask a possibly silly question, I tried searching for an answer but maybe I was wording it wrong because I couldn't find it.

So I have made the request to have my €55 p/m contract cancelled. Very helpful on the phone and I switched to the rolling 30 day contract. Also have the unlock code for my phone.

    My question is this.

    http://www.three.ie/eshop/sim-only-plans/prepay-sim-only/

    This costs €20 per month.

What is the extra benefit for going with Bill Pay Sim only? What do you guys see as the extra benefit? It's just if I can save another €10 it would be nice :)

    Thank you.

The bill pay one has free any network calls. Anytime.

You also don't have to remember to top it up. Before the off plan three data charges devour your €20 top up on the prepay. Use to just vanish when I used that sim. I assume you could set an auto-top up to avoid this.

I have a 6S which had its battery replaced by Apple 2 months ago so it's good for another few years. I'll see what's available when the time comes but I intend to hold onto this phone for quite a while as it does everything I need for now.

That's a good point, i don't think I can check my account now. I'll give it a try later.

Has anybody who has changed plan seen it reflected when they log into My Three?

I rang on 1st of March and downgraded to sim only. New billing cycle kicked in yesterday but looks like I'm still on Flex Max 350.

Wouldn't it be 30 days from the 1st of March before your plan changed?

Well wasnt I getting a similar bill monthly from eir, having left them ages ago. Went onto their live chat and it turns out that they owe me €82. Cheque will be with me within 30 days. Thanks FrostyJim! In fairness their online chat was very good and they emailed me a transcript of the chat.
