Oh really? Darn. Was hoping I could get an improvement on the speeds I have, but my only other option seems like Vodafone, and their prices are extortionate :pac:

Postmobile use the Vodafone network and are a lot cheaper. Meteor have come on a lot with regards to coverage, in my area especially. With WiFi at home and WiFi in the job I don't need half the amount of internet allowance I thought I needed. I've a day left on my Vodafone SIM only package and I've used 800 meg!! I was thinking of trying the meteor€15 pm 2gig of data, 250mins unlimited texts deal, sure look, if I use it up I use it up. That's the beauty of an unlocked phone and SIM only plans.

    Thanks OP!

Maybe they want out of the Irish market, everyone I know is cancelling. Even those on prepay deals due to the 30 day offer changing to 28 days.

Having been thrown out of the q 18 times, i finally got through and cancelled my contract, having asked to be moved to PAYG.
Does anybody know how to check to make sure my contract is cancelled? At the moment the end date of my contract in My3 on their website is still 2018. Should it get updated? How long does it usually take to get updated? Any ideas? Thanks!

I just cancelled about 90 mins ago and my contract details are updated, with my minimum term finishing today:
    My minimum term.

Your Minimum Term finishes on : 06/03/2017
Your minimum term is the minimum duration of your contract. Unless we receive notice, your contract will automatically continue after this date.

So I'm on a 30 day contract at €25 a month, which is going to €30. Not happy about paying €30, and I'm considering moving to pre-pay on account of this. Just not too sure whether it's a worthwhile move. I'm 95% a data user, with the odd call and text.

So just had a live chat with an agent.

My details - upgraded to a new 2 year contract iPhone 7 in Jan on the Classic Flex 350 for €40.66 a month.

    Summary:
Me:Asked was my plan going up in price and could I leave?

Agent: Certainly you can leave without penalty if you wish, but why would you? The plan that you’re on is still excellent value, and you'll now be able to use it while roaming in the EU - with no extra or additional costs unless you go outside your allowance (which now includes 3GB of data). And on top of that , you will still continue to enjoy AYCE data, which is a service benefit of being on your plan and can only be used in Ireland for as long as you stay on your current plan.

Me: Can you confirm price increase?

Agent: The price of your plan will increase by €4.340000000000003 a month from your first bill after April 3. However, your plan now includes a 3GB data allowance, which along with your calls and text allowance, can be used when roaming in the EU

Me: I see there is a sim only plan on bill pay for €30 month that gives ALCE data in Ireland. Can I switch to this without penalty?

Agent: Sure we've a dedicated team who can help you with the new plan details and any further queries you may have about the changes. Give them a call on 1800 818 021,

I cancelled mine about an hour ago and still 2018 is shown as my contract end date online. The lady I spoke to told me that my contract will end on the 5th of April (I presume this is todays date + 30 days notice). After this, she said, i'd be automatically moved to PAYG. I doubt it'll happen.

I can't get through in on the 1800 818021 number to cancel it. It seems to be off the hook. I messaged them on Facebook and live chat and you can only cancel on that number. The The opening times for the number are Mon-Fri 8.30am - 8.30 pm, Sat 9am - 8pm,Sun 10am - 5pm.

Cancelled my Flexi 350 contract just there. 16 months left on it.

Moved to the 30 day bill pay contract. Updated straight away online.

I would love to move to Vodafone for their great data but its is crazy dear for any decent amount of data.

    - On hold for just 15 minutes.
    - Cancelled 18 months remaining on 24 month contract.
    - Moved to sim only 30 euro per month rolling contract
    - New phone unlocked.
    - Lad on phone was sound as a pound.

TBH, the whole situation has probably given me a more favourable view of Three and increased my customer loyalty. Can't see myself moving anytime soon.

    Best. Bargain. Alert. Ever.

The 30 day has all network calls and texts included where the PAYG doesn't. So if you use those the 30 day is a better option. Otherwise the PAYG seems better.

I'd also consider how much data you use. Many people who think they are heavy users are actually under the cap for PAYG on other networks.

For me its all about avoiding bill shock. Whatever plan does that.

Cancelled mine on Friday, my minimum term time (time it finishes on) is displaying as 02/03/2017. Plus I've got confirmation today that I can unlock my iPhone after 24hrs.

    Have a little faith.

As you're switching to PAYG don't forget to pick up a PAYG sim card.

my bill date is in 3 days, and she says my plan will change over then, i was paying 40 a month and usually i was going over this to 50 and 60 if I rang other networks, the 30 day sim only is unlimited calls and texts and they normal unlimited date, i usually use up to 20gb pm

Well, lots of things to consider:

    - lots of people are staying with three just moving down plans, onto sim only, or onto prepay.

    - prepay is now only 28 days, but still one of the better deals on prepay in terms of data. So they make more money from PAYG.

    - presumably, all of this is to get around the roaming + data law in June (which apparently they can't do) but now we're just getting 2GB roaming data versus all you can eat (with a fair usage) - so they're saving tons here in the long run.

Three wouldn't have done this without being sure they can take the hit, so they're fine.

They are making their plans more expensive so it probably will offset it.

Just called 1913, and entered my details

    Checked my upgrade satus.

Says my contract ends 2nd of March 2017

I can upgrade my phone on 2nd Dec 2016.

When is the market due a big influx of new technology, does anyone know?

You'll have to get a new three sim (online or in store) for prepay and then call them to get the number ported

Why are people staying with three on €30/month rolling contracts when ID / Tesco sim-only plans are cheaper (and use the three network)?

Virgin Mobile also use the Three network and are cheaper with unlimited everything for €25/month... and if you signup to 12 month contracts on either virgin or ID, you get discounts that essentially amount to 3 or 4 months for free...

anyway the sim only 30 euro plan isnt a contract , we can get out of it easily enough, im currently satisfied how I am now, also the phone will have to be unlocked to work with Tesco, once I switch over to the sim plan ill request the unlock code and I will wait to see whats in the pipeline, no current phone grabs me, there is a awful lot of good budget phones, I got my son the motorola g4 and its a impressive phone at a budget price
