To those who moved to the 30 day sim only option were you moved straight away or is it taking effect from your next billing cycle?

Next billing cycle so in my case it will be at the end of April

Just after moving two contracts to SIM only. Was 40 minutes on hold, was talking to a nice Irish lad for about 5.

The FlexiFix plans aren't affected unfortunately.

After 8 years with them I'll be porting over to Vodafone X when the first month of SIM only ends. Thanks OP!

Rang on Friday. On hold for about 5-6 minutes. Contract cancelled, moved to 30-day rolling contract which should be reflected on my next bill. Request unlock code for my iPhone. Just got email from Three about 10 minutes ago stating I can unlock my phone within 24 hours which is good. Will see tomorrow so :)

Whats a better plan for all you can eat Data, and calls then?

30GB of data I can actually use ?

3 at present is providing very very congested data services in a lot of urban areas. I get amazing speeds in the oddest outer suburban location in Cork and Dublin but their 4G is often slower than a Meteor 3G connection, especially in urban areas and the 3G services on 3 is often just unusable.

On Meteor I have usable 3G that seems to often top 8Mbit/s and reliable speeds of 4G that are at least 50Mbit/s

Having all you can eat is fine, in theory but the capacity clearly isn't there

Just of the phone 35min on hold but after that only took about 5mins very nice girl on the phone my contract was a €55 a month I'd a year left it was to go up to €60 a month as a result of this price increase I said wasn't happy with that and I'd like to cancel she then offered me the €30 a month sim only with everything I had on my other contract I accepted that half price saving for me for the year now I'd really no intention of leaving wanted to stay as 3 have great signal here and the unlimited data is a big plus for me but getting what I had for half the price happy days great deal :)

    FYI
I don't know if this point has already been covered, but I am a former O2 customer, and this offer to change does NOT apply to us, nor is it likely to be, according to the guy I spoke to. I had a 40 minute wait ON HOLD this morning. Better than the 90 minute wait on Saturday, with no reply.
I also have a Pay as you go card, Top up €20 per month. This gives me unlimited tethering. That has been changed from 30 days, to 28 days, so it means one extra payment per year, and it does not allow free calls to other networks, now I will be using my €20 Credit to make any calls. Hope this clarification helps some else and saves them ages left On Hold

    Have a good day,

    Conor

cant see why the wouldn't apply to former o2 customers? maybe not now but you got to think they will

Got out of my contract, delighted. €60 a month down to €30 a month now.

    Entirely different contracts

After about 45 seconds of silence it might connect. You will wait then for 30 -45 mins.

maybe not now but you got to think they will

With the amount of 3 users users that are using this as an excuse to jump ship or go onto a lower plan without having to pay off their handsets, I would imagine 3 are rethinking their strategy. The last thing they want is former O2 customers using this as a way of leaving the network early.

Has anyone switched to Virgin Mobile's €25 a month plan, any issues?

    I'm on a rolling contract with 3, currently €25 a month rising to €30.

    I use nothing but data.

Ported over to vodafone this morning on a sim only plan. Speedtest at the house on three (4G) was 3.81 Mbps. Vodafone (3G) is 36.84. Some difference.

To give credit to 3, the cancellation process was very easy, and I got the unlock code without any trouble. Bill pay customer of over 10 years. Only had a couple of months left on contract so no massive savings for me, but the way they handled the roaming changes left a bad taste in my mouth.

Which sim only plan did you port over to? Currently looking at option on Meteor and Vodafone. Thanks in advance!

Anybody here on the Virgin Mobile 25 euro plan?

Was wondering if their 4G speeds might be better and worth having a look at, mind their fair use policy looks much scarier:
Virgin Media Mobile Service Fair Usage Policy:

Virgin Media Mobile Services are subject to a Fair Use Policy. Fair Usage Policy applies to usage exceeding 10,000 Voice call minutes or 10,000 Text messages or 30 Gigabytes of Data in any monthly bill cycle. If you exceed these allowances as determined by Virgin Media, in our sole judgment, Virgin MediaVirgin Media may take any of the following actions, or any combination thereof:
    - Suspend your access to the Virgin Media Mobile Service and/or
    - Terminate your account for non-compliance with the provisions of this Usage Policy in accordance with the provisions of Virgin Media’s General Terms and Conditions.

Where breach of our Mobile Services Fair Usage Policy is suspected, we will endeavour to contact you before taking the actions described above. In the case of severe abuse, as reasonably determined by us, we reserve the right to suspend your use of the Service or end our Agreement, having attempted to contact you first.

Seems very severe for "Unlimited data"

All the MVNOs (with the exception of Postfone) use the Three Network.
    Postfone use Vodafone's (2G & 3G).

Not sure how good or bad Virgin Mobile is but the fact it uses Three's already congested network is a turn off for me.

Oh really? Darn. Was hoping I could get an improvement on the speeds I have, but my only other option seems like Vodafone, and their prices are extortionate :pac:

    hey

for those trying to get through dont stress you have until the start of April to get out ... say its best to leave it this week unless you want to be on hold for ages ... the web chat are unable to do the cancellation but are able to request the unlock code

The chat crowd refused to process an unlock for me. I will be closing two accounts with them.

Question on unlock code. How should I expect to receive it? I requested mine last week and just wondering how it will arrive. Htc ten phone. Thanks Mick

While I can agree about three's already congested network I think there may be some minimum level service agreements in place for the MVNO's so you may find some of the MVNO's customers on three have a better service than three's own customers.

just wondering how long people have been waiting to get to the top of the cue. Im 30 mins in and still waiting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭bob11

Just got through to 1800818021 eventually ..
I had 9 months remaining on Iphone 6S at €55 per month, so dropped to €30 per month sim only plan and got the handset unlocked as well, saving 9*30 = 270 in the process ..

Had a few offers to tempt me to stay, 2 months free line rental, keeping the monthly fee at 55 , without the increase, but none to match my savings with cancelling ..

    Thanks Three !!

Why is everyone switching to 30 prepay sim only instead of €20? That looks better to me (my wife is on three and I don't really ring other phones or send many texts.) Data is all I need really.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks..

I've got no letter (yet) and I cancelled this morning i wasn't sure so just rang and chanced it didn't want to leave three but wanted to see what they would offer now out of my contract (had a year left) and am now paying half of what I would have been paying for the next year not a bad way to spend an hour ;)
