You know the way you could turn on the WiiU using the gamepad?

Can you do that with the joycon yokes?

This might sound odd, but actually turning the machine on is giving me problems. It turns on, but usually takes a little bit more effort than I'm used to.?

Do you not just press the power button? Or press a button to get to the unlock screen?

I'm having no problems with the Switch Joycons attached to the grip, comfortable to use in any of the configurations.
I will wait to see what the Horipad reviews like, also might see if the WiiU Pro pad gets a compatibility patch.

According to that ProJared video you can't - machine has to be turned on from the unit itself not the joycons

If the console is asleep, you press home, then any button 3 times and BOOM! It explodes because you're using cheap Chinese usb-c cables that don't conform to specs. Or it switches on. Damn sight more than my WiiU does, I always have to power that on, force off and power back on from the console.

I've done it with joycons docked, joycons in a grip and pro controller. Works like a charm. Ive also done it with a lady, but I don't like to brag.

I have no idea what power consumption is like in Sleep vs Off.

Also, I'm starting to wonder what battery life long germ will be like given that its on charge when docked...

BTW, in case you are lying awake wondering what happens if the Joycons are attached to the Switch but you want to use your Pro Controller, it asks you to press L and R on your controller of choice.

a press of the home button turns wakes the console

I must say, after playing around with it since yesterday, I'm very impressed. It's comfortable to play in handheld mode, being able to pop out the kick stand and play with the joy-cons detached is super. The included joy-con grip is also pretty comfortable. It also goes without saying that Zelda is just excellent, I've always liked the series, but so far there is just something about BotW that I am super digging. As long as they keep the high quality games coming, It will be well worth the purchase. Now, fingers crossed for a proper Fire Emblem and a Monster Hunter.

Only one problem I've had is with surround sound on TV mode, have it connected via HDMI to a surround sound/home theatre system, but it won't give me surround. I came across a few others on another forum reporting similar, while others reported no problems with surround. So hopefully it's just a software fix down the line. Not a deal breaker by any means.

I am really enjoying playing the Switch with a Joycon in each hand rather than using the bundled grip. I was thinking of getting a Pro Controller but right now I don't see the need. Initially playing Zelda with this control setup felt very odd, especially the right Joycon with the buttons directly above the stick. But a few hours in now and I've totally forgotten about it. It just feels very relaxing sitting back not have to hold a controller in the traditional sense.

Anyone still waiting on parcel motel delivery? Mine was delivered Friday 06:30am to Belfast depot, reached Dublin depot at lunchtime Friday, and nothing since. A joke of a company

It's weird, the longer I have the system the more I'm glad I took the plunge and bought it. It's a gamechanger. I really want to see a ported third party game and see how it holds up against the PS4 and one, because the potential is amazing. If let's say, For Honor could run and the only sacrifice was I dunno, lower shadows, less particle effects etc etc I'd be beyond delighted. I'd take the perks of the switch over the grunt of the PS4 with some titles. I think the switch can and will find its market and share it with the 4 and One. I'm just curious to see what it's capable off.

Being able to play snipper clips, two players on the telly with two controllers out if the box then switching over to Zelda before just picking it up and carrying it to bed.... Unreal.

Mario Kart and Splatoon will be system sellers. It's not till I got it out of the box and seen how effortless it all is that my mind started wandering and thinking how great the machine is. The great thing is, even if it is underpowered compared to the 4/1 if it becomes the home for titles like Pokémon stars and Fire Emblem etc who cares? Not me :D

    No regrats

Still waiting on Zelda from Amazon...

So purchased Snipperclips last night and brought it over to the boyfriends house. Him and his flat mates had so much fun, they were singing the praises of the Switch.... trying to show it to as many people as possible and recruit them to our cult....:

I was going to post the sane message last night, I totes agree;-) my only issue at the moment is I don't have as much free time to play Zelda while I work (taxi driving) as I thought I would have. Strange one that...

Nice! I don't sit at ranks I work with a big company so usually kept going. I used to let some passengers kids play with my 3ds but they won't be getting their greasy little paws on the switch that's for sure! Might get a bit of time today Sundays can be quite. Fingers crossed anyway!

Most companies require a certain number of stuck/dead pixels before they count it as a manufacturing defect. It's pants I know.

That would drive me insane. My first 3ds had a dead pixel, in fairness the girl in Argos took it back and gave me a new one, no issue. If anyone has this and it's annoying you, don't hesitate to bring it back to the shop

That's been copy and pasted from when the DS was a thing. Nintendo are actually far and away the best company when it comes to these faults. When the PSP was released it had awful issues with dead pixels and Sony refused to fix PSP screens with 3 or less dead pixels. Most other companies took a similar position. Nintendo are the only ones that would replace the system with just one dead pixel.

What games are you guys playing - I'm playing Zelda - and I think its amazing - I am new to the Zelda franchise - dabbled a little bit with the Wii U - I am blown away by it - I wouldn't normally play a game like this - is anyone else feeling the same way?

Yep. Never got fully into a Zelda game but loving this.

Is the E25 Shovel Knight game worth a purchase if I've never owned or played Shovel Knight before?

Zelda is good from what I've played so far, but Bomberman has me hooked. I was a bit worried about Konami's involvement after their disastrous Xbox 360 effort years ago, but this version is top notch all the way. Camera angle can be a bit irksome at times, but the overall package is an 8/10 for me.

It's excellent. If you like old games like mega man and duck tales, you'll like it. I'm on my third play through!

Is this version of Shovel Knight the same as the Vita/PS4? Already have both.

There is a setting buried in the menus (in case you haven't seen it/found it).
