Three have been excellent to me over the 5.5 years I've been with them. I've often paid my bills late without penalty or hassle. I never have any problem getting through to their customer service. They even neglected to charge me for my new device when I upgraded my phone the last time. My data usage has always been heavy. And in spite of all of that they haven't increased the price of my all you can eat data plan in 6 years. I think this price hike is totally acceptable and I'm very happy to pay it and stick with them.

I sticking with them too only instead of being locked into a 24-month contract I'm free to do and go where I want. And, I'm going with the Three 30-day sim plan which suits me fine. The only reason I signed up to a 24-month contract was to get a new HTC 10.

Got through this morning. Took 4 attempts to dial, 30mins on hold. Man I got through to was very friendly and helpful.

Had no issue cancelling or requesting unlock code. Chose to go to 30eur unlimited SIM-only as it seemed like good value and don't need to get s new SIM etc. 30 day contract and unlocked phone means it's easy to shop around going forward.

If you've had bad service from three then I'm sorry to hear that. My experience with them has been excellent and I'm quite vocal about it given the crap experiences I had with Vodafone, Meteor and O2 during the preceeding ten years.

I've had decent service in fairness but I don't see the point of paying an extra €35 per month for the next 16 months when I don't have to.

    That's €560

When you say "jump on" do you mean they send you a text? They've sent me texts but that's all. Believe what you want sure :-)

Well if you get sent a txt which I still don't believe then you were already paying a surcharge of an extra fiver a month for not paying by direct debit - lucky you.

Sorry if this has been asked already but does this apply to three open 1000 extra accounts?

You still have to contact them to give 30 days notice of cancelation. The sooner you give them the notice the sooner your contact will end.

I don't see why? They've already broken a contract their end. I don't envisage any penalty or repercussions for anyone not adhering to their terms and conditions on 3's end.

Three's billing system will automatically send your outstanding balance on to a debt collection agency.

Whatever you think yourself. They've given people notice of a contract change. People have to contact them to tell them they don't agree to the change. If they don't contact Three then they're agreeing to the change of terms and Three keep billing at the increased price.

Like I said. (And I'm not actually advocating it) if someone chose to just walk away from the contract, 3 have broken.

Then i suspect it would be on fairly dodgy grounds for them, should it get "legal", ie debt collection agency etc.

3 are hardly gonna send the bad man around to make you honour terms in a contract they themselves made null and void.

    Just my two cents.

I signed up for an old plan in December called "three open plus extra". I can't see if my price has increased, can anyone tell me if I can cancel -

It would save me the remaining 20minths of a 65€ pm month contract , please please ;-)

Must you call that 1800 number from your Three mobile or can you use a landline? Or does it matter at all?

But it's not null and void. The contract is perfectly valid if you don't cancel it. 3 aren't cancelling your contract. they're changing the terms which means you can cancel it without penalty.

Why are people switching to the 30 day sim only plan for €30 when they can switch to all you can eat prepay for €20?

Because if you miss your prepay top up you can be without service or you can be gouged on expensive data.

And don't you need a new sim card too?

Let me get this straight so. 3 are perfectly entitled to change the terms of a pre existing contract, but the other party aren't?

They have made existing contracts null and void, hence why so many are being released, phone and all, penalty free.

    Contracts work both ways.

The €30 gets your unlimited data, any network calls and texts.....

They have changed the terms of the contract. They haven't cancelled the contract. You still have to contact them to cancel, which you can do without penalty.

If you want to change the terms you have to notify them and allow them a period to cancel like they have to if they want to cancel the contract.

Does the 30 euro sim only plan include calls to landlines or are there certain units allowed for landline calls?

This is going off topic now, so im going to leave it here.

In my own contract, it was stated that i would pay them x amount for 24 months, after which i had to notify them of my intentions to leave.

They changed the terms and conditions of the contract, Mid-term essentially making the contract null and void. (Hence why i could leave penalty free)

Im just guessing that people who walk away now without going through the formal channels or notifying three that they don't accept the new changes will hardly be pursued to the ends or the earth, because in a legal scenario it would possibly be deemed that the contract was null and void anyway.

Just my two cents, my opinion, im not stating it as fact.

Any existing customers with Virgin Media customers can avail of an unlimited* sim only for €5/month for 5 months and €25 thereafter, I'd say it will be a 12-month contract.

The contract (terms and conditions) says they can change the prices if they want and if you continue using the services after you have accepted it

    4.1 Subject to Section 4.4 below, we may vary any of the terms of your agreement, including our Price Plans, on the following basis: (a) any updated Price Plans and new terms will be available on our website and on request to Three Customer Services; (b) if you are a Bill Pay Customer, we will let you know at least one month in advance if we decide to: (i) discontinue your Price Plan; or (ii) make any variations to your agreement;

if you carry on using Three Services after the variation commences, you will be deemed to have accepted the variation.

You'll end up with a letter sent to the Irish Credit Bureau and have trouble getting a loan again. Better ringing and canceling.

Anyone tell me if "three open plus extra"plan has changed?

    Got my letter...it just says
We're getting in touch to let you know that the price of your plan will increase by 4.34 per month on your first bill after 3rd April
Your plan. Ow included a new additional data allowance which along with your call and text allowance can be used when roaming in the EU blllaaaaa blaaa
Then the important bit we hope you'll continue to enjoy the great value this plan offers including threes exclusive all you can eat data however if you do not accept these changes you have the right to cancel your current plan eithin 39 days without penalty you can do this by contacting us on blaa blaaa.

So my question.... can I cancel.... then sign up again to the new plan and get a new phone? Cheeky yes but possible?

As far as I know, they won't sign you up as a customer again for a month? Might be 3 months.

The other party's entitlement is to cancel the contract. It's not to just stop paying the bill and cancel the direct debit.

Only banks/financial institutions are members of the Irish Credit Bureau and are the only entities able to record transactions on your file (unlike England where every unregulated, unaccountable entity can record entries on your file)

I wouldn't be too worried about being pursued but I would be concerned that Three have control over your phone number so there might be issues getting the number ported to your new network.
