If you sign up to a new contract today it will include the new prices so you can't break it.

The prices are still the same as current plans on the website

Doesn't mean the new prices won't be in the t&c somewhere

Of course not. If you get a new phone the contract will be at the new price already so they won't be in breach of anything.

But if I order the phone online I get to keep my current contract

You have to agree with the statement below to extend your contract or get a new phone.

I accept that certain changes to my agreement with Three, including but not limited to price plan changes, available at three.ie/customer-agreement will be effective from my first billing date falling after 3rd April 2017. By ticking the box I confirm this communication constitutes notice of these changes.

    I don't see why not.

It is shocking to see three, rather than accept new eu roaming laws, willingly lose customers hand.over foot via trying to implement loopholes etc.

Loyal customer my hoop, just goes to show you, you're viewed as a cash cow and nothing more.

I was with them since 07 btw.

I don't know how it works with the roaming, but do 3 have to pay something to the local providers if people are roaming? You can understand why someone like Vodafone is willing to allow people to use their plans abroad, because they are hugely limited on their data allowance already. Imagine all the 3 users who take the absolute piss with their plans, and then doing it overbroad as well.

I signed up last August for a 2 year contract, got an iPhone 5s at the time, and a bill of €25.41 per month. So I understand this will now be €30 a month...
I don't mind the increase too much as I'm lucky enough to live somewhere where the coverage is pretty good....
Am I better off switching to the 30 day sim only plan for the same price of €30? Isn't there unlimited any calls with this?
Also, if I switch to the Sim only plan do I need to get a new direct debit set up or can I continue with the one I currently have set up?

One last thing - when I ring to switch plans can I request an unlock code then?

Yes, 30/month SIM only is unlimited everything. You can switch to this without having to change your SIM or set up a new Direct Debit.

When you cancel your current contract and switch to SIM only, you can request your unlock code.

Have seen on here and heard others I know looking to go in to their local three shop thinking they can get a new phone today and then cancel their new contract straight away. The greed of some people!

You can't do that though, if you sign up today the deal is you get the old rate for a month then it goes up. To be fair I've been with three for about 10 years always had problems with them (billing me twice is a golden oldie that they do about once a year is taking my direct debit twice) impossible to get through to resolve an isssue and their plain ignorant when you do get through. They however are the only network that offer unlimited internet which I need so I have to stick with them... for me I'm on a 24 month contract my bill is going up by a fiver not a massive deal but it's a pain in the hole how they have the market cornered so I'll cancel go on pay as you go for a month then sign up again and get myself a nice new phone

My contract with three is up on April 7th and u and I had planned to change to Meteor, but got that letter from three re price increase and am wondering if I ring three now and cancel contract, what happens with my number in meantime while I switch over to meteor? Can I just go onto meteor website after cancelling with three and carry my number over or do three keep it? Sorry, I have no idea how these things work!

I'm not keeping the phone, changing from Samsung to IPhone

Call 3, cancel contract and switch to SIM only or PAYG. Go to Meteor, set up a new contract asking to port your number over. I would call 3 and ask them the best way of doing it on the 1800 number, they're pretty helpful. The problem with cancelling and going to PAYG is that I think you might need a new SIM then, which could slow up the process.

You'll be giving Three 30 days notice of cancellation so you'd still be a Three customer for 30 days. When the 30 days are up go into a Meteor store and sign up as a new customer. They'll port your number across for you, will only take a few hours.

Yeah, guess it could be more hassle then it's worth, like the price increase sets in on April 3rd, my contract is up on April 7th so I could just wait till April 7th and change over then? I don't need to inform 3 then cos I'd be out of contract right?

You still need to inform them. You are out of contract but your account will still keep rolling each month till you cancel.

Apparently 500 in queue on the infamous 1800 818021 cancellation line before 10am Saturday .Epic greed and stupidity ( having increase letters arrive the morning of EU roaming law announcement!) from 3 .
You get to keep your phone !Who WOULDNT leave ?!
After repeated pi55 takes from government , land lords , insurance etc this is a nice reversal of fortune for the little person !Expect the value of iPhone 5S to half on adverts in next month or two !

Just checking I'm not wasting my time, the number to call is 1800 818 021?
I've rang it 50 times this morning and it's always engaged!

Three have been excellent to me over the 5.5 years I've been with them. I've often paid my bills late without penalty or hassle. I never have any problem getting through to their customer service. They even neglected to charge me for my new device when I upgraded my phone the last time. My data usage has always been heavy. And in spite of all of that they haven't increased the price of my all you can eat data plan in 6 years. I think this price hike is totally acceptable and I'm very happy to pay it and stick with them.

Why pay extra when you don't have to? You're just another number to them

Three have always been very quick to jump on customers who pay their bill late so really can't believe a word you are saying.

When you say "jump on" do you mean they send you a text? They've sent me texts but that's all. Believe what you want sure :-)

If you've had bad service from three then I'm sorry to hear that. My experience with them has been excellent and I'm quite vocal about it given the crap experiences I had with Vodafone, Meteor and O2 during the preceeding ten years.

That's all fine, enjoy paying more than you should. I'm sure they'll toast you at the next Christmas party.

To all the people fretting over not being able to get through to three via the number given on here.

Now, to be upfront about things, I got through with relatively little hassle, but had I not have, it not be worrying too much.

Would i not be right in assuming that you could now just leave, cancel direct debits etc, because they broke the contract, leaving you free to walk away on your end.

The only reason I can see for wanting to formally notify them is for people that require an unlock code for a handset, and once again, I didn't require one anyway, as my handset was already unlocked.

I also have had very little trouble with three. Aside for some signal issues for a while after they acquired O2, I have found their service great in rural Co Limerick, and their customer service has been exceptional on the rare occasions that I've needed it.

That's in contrast to Vodafone who although gave a great reliable service, when I had an simple issue after 14 years as a customer, I was told there are plenty of other operators so why don't I sign up and annoy them.

Then there was meteor who spent 2 month and 50 plus phone calls telling bare faced lies to my wife.

That said, I wouldn't miss an opportunity to break from contract.

Finally got through to them after about 70 attempts, on hold for 40mins but got on to a lovely guy..I did an early upgrade on 26th Jan, so still in last contract till April, was able to swap to sim only plan for €30 a month all you can eat, keep the new phone and will have my unlock code in 3 days!

I've been with 3 over 10 years now, very happy with the services etc but you must be mad if you think I'd pay €15 extra per month out of blind loyality 😂😂

You still have to contact them to give 30 days notice of cancelation. The sooner you give them the notice the sooner your contact will end.
