According to a post on Reddit, from dbrand, Switch doesn't play well with vinyl wraps.

Just an FYI the switch charges fine off my Google Pixel C USB c charger. That was with the controls attached and in need of charging too.

Having a few sync issues with my left controller when switch docked and controllers in the controller unit. Sitting about 7 ft from the unit. Not impressed, hope it's fixed in an update!

Jaysus, put the wrist straps on the right way, still couldn't get the buggers off!

I like the switch use option for having multiple save games for Zelda, eldest daughter started Zelda and freaked out at that first Bokoblin. Daddy and a tree branch to the rescue!

So far played hand held and tabletop+grip yet to try it on TV or with pro controller. Loving it so far. Are any of the NeoGeo games fun, 2player and not SF-style fighters?

After hearing a few concerns about the Joy-Cons, very pleased to discover they're more than capable. Are they top tier controllers? No, but in the grip they're a good step or two beyond being merely functional at the same time. Relieved I didn't splash out on a Pro Controller now.

The screenshot function is faster & more effective (and, thanks to a typically Nintendo feedback flourish, more satisfying) than PS4, and frankly probably Steam too.

It's a very consistent 30 fps but the odd time it drops momentarily to 20 fps. It seems to be a bandwidth issue. It's never a sustained drop though just a momentary one. Nit game breaking but it is noticable. Did expect better since its the xenoblade engine and that runs amazingly well. Apparently there's none when not docked.

I'd hope for early adopters it can be patched.
It's just given me another reason to avoid for now until I see how it all fairs out over the coming months. The fact that it has no VC, no youtube, no broswer, sync issues with left joycon etc at launch adds to that.
I'm going to do my best to hold out until at least E3.
Upcoming games is what I want to know about.
I nearly caved today only for reading that piece on Eurogamer.

It seems to be rare Mick, I have played about 6 hours now and it's happened about 4 or 5 times for a split second so it's not exactly going to affect my enjoyment of the game!

I have barely scratched the surface of Zelda and it already feels like a masterpiece. The whole combo, music, art, gameplay is stunning!

Digital foundry reporting fps as low as 20 while docked and no dips while undocked.
I mean 20 FPS is completely unacceptable in 2017 for a console IMO
That seals it then. Il be waiting a few months at the very least. Thank Christ.
The game has just been rated at one of the best games of all time with only one or two games above it on metacritic and you decide not to get it because of a few frame rate drops?

No but it doesn't help, mainly dropped because of the console and it's faults at launch above.

Been playing snipperclips with the boyfriend since I set it up - so much fun! Getting a great laugh out of it so far and thrilled with the Switch in general!

Fair enough. I wouldn't argue that it doesn't have faults I just though you seen a couple of nerds check the frame rate of Zelda and that put you off getting it. I'm playing it at the moment and it does seem fine to me, granted I haven't played very much but it is gorgeous!
    Happy switchmas everybody!

When I try to dock the tablet, the dock flashes green for about a second and then nothing happens???

    What's going on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 710 ✭✭✭Victor McDade

Yeah that happens, then hit to home button and you should be up and running.
You check HDMI and power cables are properly connected, TV displaying the correct source? (apologies if stating the obvious)

Joy-Con Not Responding or Responding Incorrectly When Used Wirelessly

    Applies to:  Nintendo Switch
    Description:
    • When using the Joy-Con controllers wirelessly, the characters seem to move on their own or do not respond correctly.
    • When used wirelessly, the Joy-Con controllers respond intermittently.
    • The Joy-Con controller appears to lose connection with the console.

    What to Do:
    Try these steps:

    1. Ensure your console has the latest system update.

    2. Ensure the Joy-Con controllers are charged. How to

    3. Try to decrease the distance between the Joy-Con and the Nintendo Switch console.

    4. Ensure that the Nintendo Switch console is placed to minimize interference with the Joy-Con. It is best if the Nintendo Switch console is placed out in the open and that it is not:
    • Behind a TV
    • Near an aquarium
    • Placed in or under a metal object
    • Pressed against a large amount of wires and cords
    • Within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point.

    5. Check for possible sources of interference and turn them off. Interference can be caused by devices, such as:
    • Laptops, tablets, etc.
    • Wireless headsets
    • Wireless printers
    • Microwaves
    • Wireless speakers
    • Cordless phones
    • USB 3.0-compatible devices such as hard drives, thumb drives, LAN adapters, etc.

In most cases it will be enough to move these devices three to four feet away from the Nintendo Switch console and/or Joy-Con controllers. However, if you continue to experience this issue, please power these devices off while using the Nintendo Switch console.

The cables are in right. The power cable goes both ways and the HDMI obviously can only go the one way.

It's not even charging the tablet in the dock. But the adapter is charging the tablet when it's out of the dock?

Try adjust it in the dock, it doesn't really "click" into place or anything, just sits on to the charging point. Sound like it might be faulty though

Are the shovel knight campaigns being released seperately, or I do have to buy treasure trove?

Think they said separately as well. There's also rumblings of a physical release so waiting to see what happens there.

Swap the HDMI around. Put the end you have in the console into the TV and vice versa. Happened to me when I set mine up earlier.

No Zelda until next week so have had to make do with co-op Snipperclips so far. Really fun game!

Initial impressions of the machine itself are that it is very sleek and even thinner than I expected. I'm not sure how anyone expected it to have PS4-level power considering its size.

The "switch" from TV to handheld is so smooth.

Joycons feel pretty small when used for two player but feel pretty good when in the grip.

The pro controller feels very comfortable to hold but I've yet to play anything with it.

I downloaded Spector Of Torment for a tenner off the EShop, I assume via price that was the DLC?

The other one was 25 quid so thought I'd give the tenner one a bash to see if I like it...

    Really enjoying it actually... :)

The joy con grip....my hands are just too big for it. I'm going to have to buy a pro controller soon me thinks :(
Still getting to grips with removing & attaching the joy cons; a few times I had to press L & R to resync I guess. My own fault though. Thought the triggers would be a nuisance but they are surprisingly nice to use.
Zelda looks amazing on handheld mode, I think less so on TV with regards sharpness. Haven't played a whole lot of it yet mind.

Don’t put stickers on your Switch, says sticker maker
Aftermarket “skins” might mess up your Switch and Joy-Cons

Nintendo Switch owners might want to refrain from decorating their new consoles with stickers and skins. Manufacturer dbrand, which makes skins for a variety of consumer electronics like phones, laptops and video game consoles, says applying those skins to the Switch and its Joy-Con controllers can damage the surface of those devices.

My left joycon ZL has almost no travel, the ZR has a decent travel, anyone else notice that?
I didn't notice until you said it, but yeah, my ZR has a bit of travel before the click while my ZL doesn't. Curious to see if my second pair have the same problem when they arrive.

I have to say that while expensive the pro controller is easily the most comfortable controller I've ever held. It just seems perfect (for my hands at least). Bigger face buttons and both sticks are just magic.

Probably helps that Zelda is so bloody good too. :-)
