O'Haras stout is quite nice but it's pretty strong if I recall. I wouldn't stomach more than 2 of them.

That 2011 HEC final really must have done a number on you.

The O'Hara's stuff is alright but I can't have more than a couple.

Every time I go out I inevitably end up back at the old faithful and ever reliable Guinness. God bless Arthur.

Whatever would Sally O'Brien say to that?

On a separate note, I don't have adblock on my work laptop and boards needs to stop with the automusic ads.

I had a very nice Guinness in Finland once.

Their pale ale is usually what I have.

I can't drink other stout. I feel like I'm cheating on my wife, the Guinness tap looks at me with a hint of sadness.

I wouldn't dare touch Guinness outside of Ireland, some of it is atrocious stuff.

And there have been a few hints:

    :D

There are even more once you search for the correct county!

TBH I like beamish too. Kind of viewed as a granddad drink in cork though. They prefer Murphy's which I find too bitter. Guinness on tap is always good.

Hmmm like these ones where you said you were from Kildare?
Yes I was fortunate enough to be raised in Kildare.

Unlike most mixed marriages I managed to avoid most of the more unfortunate tendencies of the wildlings
Don't get me wrong I love going racing. I'm from kildare, punchestown was a rite of passage!

I just don't get why absolutely everyone is into Cheltenham so much! It seems everyone gets sucked in.
I'm from Kildare. I was a season ticket holder for a long time until last year (live abroad now). When I first started attending games there was very much a south Dublin feel to them (D4 is a stupid term because the fools who use it are generally referring to people from places outside D4) but there was very definitely a larger minority of fans like myself from all over the province. As the RDS and Leinster became more and more popular that changed more and more and nowadays I don't think you'd notice it at all, if you went in there without preconceived notions and unfair bias.
Yes, I'm from Kildare and this is how I ensure we keep our place as the 2nd biggest contributor to Leinster rugby.

That last one was in response to Buer actually asking where you were from. Which is pretty funny.

If you want a stout that is as near to nirvana as possible, give this a try, best stout I've ever tried from a bottle

Haven't tried that. But they do a porter called engine oil or similar which is nice.

I was actually pining for a pint of harp recently. Instead I drank a few bottles of the insanely good Blacks of Kinsale pale ales.

Their regular stout is similar ABV to Guinness. Their Leann Foileann is about 6%.

Happiness is knowing my local off-licence had just started stocking O'Hara's beers. What is more they priced the Leann Follain cheaper than the stout. Suckers!

I just found some of that, and Porterhouse oyster stout in my favourite beer shop which is literally a guy's garage.

Damn, I had a bottle of that in my hand earlier (in the aforementioned garage) but I put it back and got something else*. There was another one beside it, an Inish and Gunn in a cardboard box, that might have been great too.

*De Molen Rasputin - one of the best stouts around, as flat as Holland and as rich as Luxembourg.

    Random fact.

I once met Sally O'Brien and got a kiss from her. The lads I was with had told me I wouldn't have the nerve. :)

'twas a good while ago, not long after the ad had aired. :(

Do any of you like beers like Spitfire or Bishops finger?

If so would you have any others to recommend?

Real Ales? You'd be looking for a Red/Amber Ale, maybe. Something like O'Hara's Red would be a decent start for the Irish alternatives. Not sure if anyone goes out and out for the "Real Ale" characteristics, but there're that many craft breweries in Ireland now that there must be some options.

Notorious is enjoyable enough, it's solid and drinkable for anybody trying to develop a taste.
Spotted Blacks "Irish giant" 11° barley wine...Must give it a go this weekend

Just finished a bottle of Brewdog Punk and a bottle of 8 degrees Hurricane IPA. Both were a lovely drop.
