From sleep to playing again is really quick.

Another one of my Switch questions answered, nice.

Looking at that clip I think I'd get the standard grey joy-cons (unless a stealthy black set is released), prefer the unit to blend in with everything else under the tv.

Not many days left to go chaps! :)

he somehow cut his own finger with his own nail
how do you even do that?

there's probably a knack to doing it is a safety feature so you'd expect them to stay in place securely

Do you people read this thread? :p A few hours earlier and a couple of pages back:

I'd be wary of that 'Stealth' guy on Twitter saying about the joy-con thing being resolved, apparently he's a bit unreliable and makes things up.

I'd be wary too because for starters it's not a syncing issue.

CNET has lost their mind over the Switch kickstand

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCaj9h3UoBo
SWITCH - DAY 1 UPDATE INFO

    - update will provide access to network features including the eShop, online gameplay, ability to share images via social media
    - link Nintendo Accounts
    - update lets you “connect online using hotspots that require authentication, such as at a hotel or café. A web applet will open up so the user can sign-in or accept terms of use.”
    - update will launch “just prior” to Switch’s release
    - the update “downloads in the background, is designed to install quickly and doesn’t disrupt gameplay.”
    - in order to to buy digital games for Switch from Nintendo’s website, you’ll have to access the eShop one time
    - if you don’t have a Nintendo Account when you are asked about it, you can ask the system to send an email with a guidance manual about how to create an account

going on his comments its a very good possibility of it being patched

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the LAN adapter options. I know HORI are bringing out a branded one later in March, but it's a bit pricey. The issue with the plethora of cheaper options on amazon (e.g., this https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Adapters/Support-AX88772-chipset-UtechSmart-Ethernet-Chromebook-Specific/B00F41TWAO/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1488108211&sr=8-27&keywords=Lan+adapter ) is that many don't say how long the lead is* and looking at the back of the Switch dock (shown here: http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/13/14268270/what-does-the-nintendo-switch-dock-do) you are going to need a minimum length of wire between the USB plug and the box housing the Ethernet port to allow you to close the back cover of the dock (hope that makes sense)

*also many, like the example given above, have nonsensical dimensions in the product description...e.g., how can that lead be 6.4 x 5.1 x 2.5 cm unless they are actually talking about the box the lead comes in

Think I've been over by this, the enthusiasm here has been a factor 8)

It is terribly expensive though, so can only justify it if I do a mass clear out of old 360 and PS3 titles. Apart from trying to offload them on Adverts or the like, what bricks and mortar will give best price on games? A few weeks back Gamestop offered me 28 euro for my 360!

cex is your best bet for a B&M ie.webuy.com

otherwise you could chance local cash converters/pawn shops etc

Lads how are Smyths for Pre-Orders usually? I pre-ordered the Switch and Zelda on the 23rd and it seems to all go through fine. Got a order number for each other them.

On the email it says this:

As this is for a preorder item that is not currently in stock, we will send you another email closer to the time that your order is ready to be collected in your chosen store.

The estimated availability date is 3 March 2017.

Anyone have experience with Pre-Orders in Smyths before? Should I expect it on March 3rd?

Not sure if this has already been posted but here's some impressions from IGN after 2 days. A good few close ups of the unit itself.

Considering selling my Gamecube to raise funds looking at CEX site I'd get €81 cash for gamecube,1 controler, Windwaker, Metroid Prime, Double Dash, Soul Calibur 2 memory card. Have XIII, Enter the Matrix, LOTR Return of the King, Tiger Wood 2005 not even a fiver all them together! Still doesn't seem bad compared to what people are asking and getting on Adverts. Thinking I may as well shift it it's being sitting unused for over 10 years. Did play the games on the Wii a bit early on but despite still having the Wii set up haven't played them in years. It's the console I'd be least nostalgic about though I really like Windwaker and Metroid Prime I have them on the WiiU.

Annoying my N64 went awol it and the games I had are worth a lot more though I'd be much more nostalgic for it. Would love to try Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Rogue Squadron again.

Don't know what I'd put the funds towards it would make Switchmas a bit more affordable but the sensible thing I think is to pick up a few more Wii U games while I can still get them cheapish. Few of the selects and Yoshis Woolie World mostly. Zelda BOTW is the big one I want though so not sure how long I can wait! Want to try and wait till I can afford the Switch but so tempted to just pick it up for the WiiU. The switch looks so great though and portability will make it so much easier to find time play.

Anytime I've pre-ordered from Smyths, it arrived on the day of release so you should be good for March 3rd.

If you want the Switch, the real question is how badly do you want the best version of Zelda, and how fast do you want it? If you really can't wait till summer or even end of April to have Mario Kart as well, get it now. If not, its most logical to wait.

I am very impatient and dying to play Zelda though so thats fine :pac:

I had the Switch pre-ordered since it became available at Smyths a while back but yesterday cancelled my order and changed it to the Wii U version of Zelda. I've owned every Nintendo console released since the NES and on Day One since the N64 but I just feel they're making the same mis-steps as the Wii U in rushing it to launch. Even now this close to launch the lack of info on the online aspect is just not good enough and coupled with no Virtual Console on its release just soured me on picking it up next week. As a Wii U owner of Mario Kart and to be able to get the new Zelda just nothing else really impresses me on the Switch line-up between now and Christmas.

Just my 2 cents but hope everyone picking up theirs on Day One has a blast and I'm sure I'll also be an owner when Mario Odyssey gets released!

Virtual Console is not a selling point for me personally. Now, it would be nice to have it on Day 1 but BOTW is going to suck hours out of me so I'll likely be too busy to really care about a lack of VC.

I wonder if they're planning on doing a Direct come the summer months when most early buyers have completed Zelda and just unleash a torrent of VC content all at once including Gamecube titles to peak interest until they start the advertising campaign all over again for Mario during the holiday period.

Caved in and just preordered from Smyth's.
No neon for pre order so got the grey, I'll need a second set of controllers for my son so I'll get the neon ones later.

paid off my switch and Zelda in GameStop

    can't wait until Thursday Night

the guy in gamestop said if I can to call in during the day as they will give a voucher for later that night to speed up the process to collecting

so I assume two queues one for people with vouchers and one without

Jaysus, if I didn't own a Wii U I would be so hyped for this! Almost as hyped as the time I rented G-Police from Chartbusters.

Roll on E3 and then Christmas (and all the good stuff in between).

G-Police was bloody great, my budget is stretched big time, I think I need to cancel my master zelda as the €50 extra for the sword and cd is a killer, not sure I am gonna spring for a pro controller neither but will wait until Wednesday for the zelda reviews to see if it is required, at the moment I have €395 tucked away for this with my target being a Neon Switch, master zelda and the pro controller coming in at just under €510, it is a lot to pay.

If I go down to regular zelda I can almost squeeze in Bomberman, I also will need a 64gb micro sd minimum.

Wish I didn't have to but it is just sitting in a press. Would love to have it set up but just don't have the space. Want a games/cinema room but probably won't happen for years till we move house/extend/throw the kids out!

Easier to justify getting a few new games or the Switch to the wife if I shift it, though any budget for Switchmass is diminishing as I just missed a second week of work this year with another bloody chest infection. On the plus side I got a good few nights of Twilight Princess in!

Pm if interested in Midlands near Athlone not in Galway too often. I might chance an ad on Adverts but honestly it looks like it's easier to just throw them in CEX for the little extra I'd get.

Good news for Amazon.fr orderers. A fiver less!

    My order is €297.04 delivered.

    https://www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B01N5OPMJW neon version at least.

Grey is still 299 it looks. Btw they don't take any new orders from outside France anymore.

Amazon have the Neon Joy-Con pair listed with SnipperClips for £79.99
They don't ship it to ireland, by the way, at least not yet - I'm only mentioning it to contrast the pricing :
The Grey and Neon pairs without Snipperclips are still listed as being released 3/3 and for £74.99 so basically if you're buying SnipperClips and Joy Cons, wait for Little Switchmas.

Note : No picture on the site, so I can't tell if the 'Con's are the right way around (Left Red, Right Blue) for going all-red/blue on your Neon Switch.
