Unscrew the end piece, I'd say, and run water through it.

It's only mid Feb yet, but in terms of weather and grazing conditions, best start to a year I've ever seen! Average rainfall around here from Nov till now must be a 1/4 of normal however!

Scanning autumn calvers today, picked them out at milking and let them off to a paddock, first day out at grass in 2017, kick your heels up time :)

So you antibiotic test everything? We did a batch over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised at how soon they were clear. Going to do everything from here on.

Getting cows into tank here after 5 milking.
    DCT says 9 milkings

You'd want to test before chancing it. Cow calved early here. 2 weeks later milk failed antibiotic test edit cepravin used

Write on board daily as they come to parlour then test each group after the required period. They'll pass Charm test quicker than antibiotic manufacture would suggest but if we CMT too soon they can fail. Best to wait requisite period. No cow to tank without antibiotic test EVER here. All penno cows kept seperate at all times of the year, the cost of a mistake is too high

    All tested here

    All tested here

Tested first collection here ,nothing after that cows in tank from third milking ,used cephaguard dct which has 24 hour withdrawl .if I use mastitis tubes or injections I allow 12 hours after reccomended withdrawl .has anyone failed a milk test by Creamry lab after passing charm test ,were told the Creamry test could override the charm test as its a longer and more sensitive test

Lorry driver won't test tank with snap test as said it could fail delvo test in lab and didn't want to risk being caught in middle. Heard of a case disputed because the lab test was sensitive to even below the EU requirement dunno how it panned out

Passed my Bord Bia this afternoon. Now trying to get someone to collect my milk again.

Damn tired atm, up early every morning for the last week or 10 days trying to get the place sorted and all the bookwork squared away along with normal spring work and calving cows.

    I won't need a sleeping tablet tonight:)

Did they stop collected you while you didn't have it? Thats ridiculous how such a pointless inspection could if thats the case...

Just got a text from Glanbia about excess water. How could that be as I only ever milk myself and what's the story regarding fines etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,135 ✭✭✭kowtow

Ordered tags from mullinahone on 30th January, still no sign (although they charged me for them).

They say they will be shipped "in the next few days"..

Do you have a flush out system on the milk line? Do you have jars would there be any excess water remaining in them, is milk tank fully drained after washing? If milk supply is very low at the minute a small bit of water could result in the excess result

We got a letter saying that once you had applied, your milk would be collected so I was in no hurry waiting for a call to get it done. A neighbour in the same boat was collected the day before I had the lorry in the yard and was collected but they changed the settings the night before I was collected so no one without the full cert would be collected.

I should have been done before Christmas but damaged my hip and wasn't able to do much and last month was hectic doing other bits and pieces. It was a bit annoying to be told one thing and then have a different rule apply without being told of a change though.

I'll be moving my purchases from them this year because of that, don't like being fcuked around especially at this time of year.

Think there should be no bord bia dairy inspections in February or March

Or from March to February either:pac:

Most lads due in Feb and March are either moving them earlier or later round here but I don't know how that works for certification if you go over 18 months, tbh:confused:

She's under as much pressure as any of us atm. I was having a fcuking meltdown today with reg problems and she got me squared away in no time. A young one in progressive got a serious rocket at one stage. Just don't need the tech letting you down when there's a lot of registrations to be done in a limited time. Nothing will get away in you faster than calf reg if you don't keep on top of it. Both of the women on support from ifc are very good.

Is there any hope that bird flue would do for crows what myxomatosis did for rabbits. I have every f'n crow in Munster eating and sh1tting at the maize pit or in the head feed.
