So you not only installed Linux but not even Linux for saps and you don't know what you're doing and won't look it up? This sounds like the time I tried to use an iPad!

I've tried nothin' and I'm all out of ideas

How did he surprise you, unless it's the kind of surprise awec gives his missus in which case I'd prefer not to know

Has anyone noticed awec is not about this evening?

Anyway I came home, and there were flowers, violates (well a selection box), some fancy jelly beans that I like and a piece of jewellery.

Totally unexpected, and a soppy card from my bearded dragon.

Then we went out and had a lovely meal

    Twas a lively surprise

Strawberry ones are the best ones! I always eat them first.

If you could buy a box of just the strawberry ones I'd buy it.

Is that the ones with the maltesers? If it is then we eat all those ones first then leave the rest.

You used to be able to buy a bar of that strawberry chocolate roses sweet. It was deadly.

My wife would view that as punishment.

For Valentines a few years ago, I took her to the RDS for a game. I even splashed out on seats for the Anglesea Stand. The lucky girl. She has it good.

It was a home game to the Dragons. The one where Darren Hudson went over in the corner from a long Madigan pass for the BP in the 82nd minute. Just about the worst game played in the RDS in several years.

I haven't convinced her to go back since.

I asked my wife on Monday if we were doing anything for Valentines and she gave me a blank stare. Moments later she realised the next day was Valentines.

Farcical event, contrived romance is no romance at all. Whatever about "bah humbug", I think "bah hallmark" applies this time of year.

Are you sure the blank stare wasn't because she was incredulous that you'd not organised anything yourself? :D

I'd say it had more to do with the Rohypnol I'd borrowed from Stheno's fella.

Absolutely. Been there a few times and enjoyed it immensely. If you are bringing kids then take the tram up to tibidabo. It's on a huge hill overlooking the city and has a great theme park there. Not too expensive...think it cost me €100 for the 5 of us and everything was free to go on.

Great restaurants and plenty to see. Accommodation is reasonable as well.

I like my football and have been to Madrid many times....It would be like you going to a Limerick game and cheering on Munster...Or Thomond going to the RDS and cheering on Leinster....Oh..!!

Yeah go for it, one of the best cities in Europe IMO. Cheap beer, great food, loads of sun... Personally I try and stay in or around the Gothic quarter, loads of cool dive bars and places to eat and it's a very young town.
