If Samsung had managed to make a patch that restricted the facebook app to only 98 megabytes I'd be impressed. Messenger alone is 170mb

Not sure if this an s7 or google issue but my wife isn't getting any calender notifications on her phone, she has tried outlook calendar and the Samsung calender but neither work.
Notifications on both apps are turned on, so after that I am stumped.
Any help with this greatly appreciated.

Oh, thought you meant S-Voice. Samsung's own version of the google voice thing.

Don't wish for that stupid screen. There's not a massive pile of difference in size and having to use a case on the edge to use the phone properly is a pain.

Can't see myself buying a Samsung at all this year as they've no flat version, I just hope Apple stay away from curves.

No flat version? That's me gone too.

From the leaks anyway, which look fairly spot in from the pictures, there's an S8 and an S8+ with curved 5.7 and 6.2 inch screens.

    Ah Jesus.

What's the actual point in a curved screen? I thought it was just the usual technology fad like 3D televisions and curved televisions :(

So I am going on holiday later in the summer and will be at the beach and pool etc. Will also be using the phone in the car for navigation etc
With 2 young kids I am wary that my S7 Edge might be knocked around and get damaged.

It's a work phone but I like to look after stuff so I have a few cases currently.

It came with an Otterbox and that was ok but a bit bulky
    http://www.otterbox.ie/en-ie/galaxy-s7-edge/symmetry-series-case/sam28-galaxy-s7-edge.html#q=S7%2Bedge&start=3

I purchased one of the clear view cases and I use it as my current case as it's great
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-Edge-Clear-Semi-Opaque/dp/B01BSSH7O4?th=1&psc=1

I was thinking of getting a Punkcase like this
    https://www.punkcase.com/collections/galaxy-s7-edge-waterproof-case-punkcase-studstar-series-slim-fit-ip68-certified/products/galaxy-s7-edge-waterproof-case-punkcase-studstar-white-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-thin-fit-6-6ft-underwater-ip68-shockproof-dirtproof-snowproof?variant=27223441345

Anybody have one and any comments?

I bought one of these a while back. I found I just can't use the massive cases so I hated it but the metal effect rim felt better than some others I tried in shops. Sounds like they could be worth a look for what you want and they're not mad money.

That looks similar to the Otterbox. It's fine as an everyday runner whilst in and out of the office and stuff but I am looking for more comprehensive protection that the Punkcase seems to offer. There are others like a Ghostek case that offer all-round protection and IP68 waterproofing but that's twice the price.

I'm reading online from a few places that the battery life in the s7 edge with the nougat update is supposed to have gotten worse..

I've had amazing battery life on 7.0 BTU using package disabler.

Do you have a list of good things to disable?

Here's an XML document which you can import into your package disabler app.

You could probably also disable the facebook & gear vr apps etc. but I personally use these so left them enabled.

    See how you get on...

I am wary of these type lists
Straight away I see com.android.contacts on the list. Once that is disabled on my S7 Edge then the contacts app disappeared as did the phone icon on the homescreen. Thus making my phone unusable as I couldn't actually phone anymore.

I would disable things one by one and make sure everything works as there are things some people use and others don't..... Such as the actual phone to make calls!!

My phone icon is still there and I can access my contacts from within that icon?

Just had a look in package disabler and there are 2 more that are enabled.

    Com.samsung.android.contacts

    &

    Com.android.providers.contacts

The one you mentioned is just for "contact data migration" apparently.

I can assure you my phone dialler and contacts work 100% and I use my phone for actual calls regularly.
