There were farms in Russia in the 80s milking horses. I remember reading a bit about it. There were yields of around 1k liters given but I don't remember the solids though.

There were people milking horses in this country too a few years ago.
    Maybe they're still at it.
    Draft horses obviously.

They milk donkeys to make cheese in Croatia...

And before you laugh - it's the most expensive cheese in world apparently...

    From article below
"It is the world’s most expensive cheese according to the World Record Academy website. Donkey cheese goes for $576 a pound (wholesale) and up to $2900 a pound (retail)."

You'd want to be brave to try and milk a donkey

If you got paid a few hundred euro a litre (or however much it takes to make a pound of cheese) I'd say you'd give it a go... ;)

Herd test today. Have two cows (mother and daughter) that I am going to enter in the Grand National. Heifer tried and nearly succeeded clearing the front of the crush and she is 8 months in calf. Damned if the cow tried the same on the outfarm.
Never mind worrying about the result, I hate the whole thing - wish someone would come up with a better way to control TB. Also heard a reasonably near neighbor went down so now am on tenterhooks for the next couple of days. :(

The Dept seem very hopeful that reducing the badger population to relieve stress in an area and vaccination of the badgers left will yield a good result.

I'd prefer money spent on investigation into vaccination of cattle tbh.

Totally agree with you. A vaccine for the cattle would be much more useful. To make sure all animals were done perhaps it would have to be vet administered and wrapped up with lots of paperwork, but it would make life a lot easier for both man and beast.

The dept have finally accepted that deer are a vector too so hopefully they'll do something on that front soon too

It's good news but I wouldn't have much confidence in the Dept being able to take out enough deer to make a significant difference. As soon as a cull is announced, Facebook will come alive with calls to 'Save Our Beautiful Deer' and the protests will start trying to stop any deer being killed:(

ah i'd love to see them brake out the 'its a native species' argument.
most of the deer in wicklow are sika

I think the problem with vaccination of the cattle is you lose access to certain markets as you then can't test to prove free of TB.

The state hasn't got the church to pawn off its sick and infirm anymore while Irish people where happy to let the status qou carry on for years.
Now the state has to start looking after people they haven't a fcuking clue what to do or start.
Now try and but their way out.

Had to wait 2 yrs to the day to get knee done after a fall on ice in yard.

Had to get local TD involved.

Went to TD at end of October with all the files, after hearing nothing for 17 months. Had appointment for consultant by mid Nov and surgery in Jan.

You pay through the nose in your taxes for HSE and then get screwed properly for health insurance to have access to private health and then find it clogged because of the inefficiency of the HSE.
Obviously have to get chronic now to get seen
A friend got a job with the public service last October, he took 2 weeks off at christmas and has been told now that he has to take 3 weeks off before the end of March......no industry would stick that

He's doing well. I get 21 days pa. Like your friend if they're not taken by the end of March they're gone. I think I can carry 5 days over. In reality I don't use all the days in fact I'd say I've never went over 15 days a year. Mores the fool me. The lads that milk every holiday and sick day get on just as well.
