He's one of the best coaches in the world and has delivered an historic list of results from back to back championships to wins over the SH teams.

That you don't like him has everything to do with your ignorance of his ability as a coach and the decisions he makes and nothing to do with his actual ability as a coach.
I'm going hmmmm at this point.

I think we badly needed a France win for that happen today. Can see England taking massive wins along the road to Dublin.

My prediction is that at best, we will need to beat England on the last day, with a TBP and denying them a losing BP to win the championship.

This is best case scenario imo.

If all you did was go "hmmmm" you would be adding about as much to the conversation as what you are posting otherwise tbh.

I'll bet you my house that if Joe picked Tiernan O'Halloran and dropped Rob Kearney, aled would be singing his praises from every rooftop.

    It's tough being a coach really :D

It's amazing watching a match (rugby/hurling/soccer) and people just see an entirely different game. One of the traits that makes sport great.

I don't think you get the same variation in what people see in other sports. Rugby definitely unique

funny thing about this game is there was nothing to change. the only thing to change was a mentality and a strategy

If things take a wrong turn we could end up with one win in the tournament. Equally we could win all four remaining games and win the Championship.

Given many, including yourself, believe Sexton was the missing link today we are fortunate he will back for the last three games.

On that basis I reckon we'll still win the Championship.

I think we badly needed a France win for that happen today. Can see England taking massive wins along the road to Dublin.

I haven't thought too much about the maths behind it but assuming we get 5 points next week that takes us to 6.

England will hopefully have to settle for 4 points in Cardiff meaning we'd only be 2 points behind them after 2 rounds. You'd have to assume England would take 10 points from their next two and the best we can hope for is 8 really, unless we get embroiled in a high scoring game under the roof in Cardiff. Therefore we'd probably end up going into the game in Dublin 4 points behind England. You'd assume their PD would be better so a BP win over England by 8 points or more would give us the title.

    That's probably best case scenario.

Although in saying that if England play like they did today in Cardiff next week they may not win at all.

Yeah, especially why ref's get such a hard time generally. They have their interpretations and are looking for something specific, whilst both sets of fans are looking at things like offensive players going off their feet or defending players killing the ball. Everyone see's what they want.

Bringing home the bacon in the Fantasy Rugby atleast.

He picked up a kick chase with more than enough time to get rid of it and ended up in touch. Great player going forward but he has weaknesses that Sexton would have exploited.

I am firmly of the opinion that half of his performance today was us making him look good.

It would be a communal sigh of relief :-)

That I can agree with. The one tackle that Garry Ringrose missed was against Hogg for their first try. He shot up in his usual fashion and Hogg just calmly sidetepped him and poor Garry went on his arse.

Still, he won't be the first (or last) to wear the "I was stepped by Stuart Hogg" tee-shirt. :)

There's all this discussion about him being the 15 for the Lions. I can't see it personally. For all his attacking flair, I'd still pick Liam Williams ahead of him.

Pretty sure Ringrose was going for the ball, not Hogg. It was a failed intercept as opposed to failed tackle.

Not really anything else he could have done with a 2 v 1 on the wing 5m out.

Well he missed him completely. I didn't think he was going for the intercept, just to hit him before he got a pass away and beat the 2 on 1.

Thought Kearney had a good game, probably best of the back 3 but his lack of some basic skills irritate me. He's been on multiple lions tours yet can only carry the ball in his left hand, can only step off his left foot and can't pass off his right to near an adequate level. Many times today in the Scotland 22 the ball was being moved from left to right and when it reached him all he could do was put the brakes on. Though still comfortably the best option at 15 until O'Halloran sorts his tackling out.

Was very disappointed by Zebo, I thought that this would be the 6n where he cements his place in the side for the next 3/4 years and he might yet do so but I think once we get a few more options in the back 3 he'll be most likely to drop out.

Was the miss not more due to the pass being behind Hogg, which wrongfooted Ringrose (though Hogg gathered, spun, and accelerated very adroitly).

He missed him alright. But there was no step involved. Hogg didn't beat a defender for that try, the ball did. Ringrose shot up to hit Maitland but Russell threw a skip pass to Hogg that fell short. Ringrose adjusted his run to try and get to the ball, but as it bounced he slipped and it went into Hogg's hands who simply ran straight, unopposed.

It was a definite misjudgement though. It was one of those where a bad pass becomes a great pass as it tempted him out when it was just out of reach. Looked like he'd have easily gotten to Hogg if he'd stayed on him.

Thought Zeebs was good today, but tge system wasnt creating any real opportunity for him.
Yes he is limited, and only a stopgap until we find a top class winger. But to be fair, he has dramatically improved his game in the last 2 years, and deserves his spot as stopgap at the moment.

Jeez, Bowe, is that a symptom of our friends Kearney and Earls

And the ball would likely have already been in the hands of the extra Scot on the wing that nobody had much hope of getting to. Ringrose had to at least try for the interception given the Scottish overlap.

OK, clearly misread who was who from the overhead shots. I only saw one of the replays, missed the first fifteen minutes of the match due to a very annoying driver using her phone as a sat nav on narrow country roads. :(

Those are the days that you want James Bond's car.

Looking at the time I thought he'd a good chance of getting man and ball, with the ball bouncing it would've been very difficult for Hogg to take it and move it on quickly.

That said I am not a huge fan of Joe these days. In truth its not about any player its about joe schmidt. and he is currently not providing much guidance

I'd say if Joe squatted in front of you and shìt a gold bar at your feet you'd hand it back to him and tell him there's a smell of shìt from it.

Last year we beat SA in SA for the first time ever. We beat NZ for the first time ever and followed it up with a victory against the Wallabies. What more could Joe do?

Win two six nations on the trot maybe ?
